Chapter 526: Splitting the Soul
"How do you split a soul?" Gu Sewei asked.
Li Wei didn’t know how to split a soul either.
It wasn’t his area of expertise.
However, he knew of someone who was an expert at splitting souls.
The Legendary Witch Lich—Torresta.
But trying to find the Legendary Witch Lich now for a soul-splitting method seemed too late.
’No, maybe there’s still time.’
An idea suddenly struck Li Wei.
He seemed to have something that would let him contact the Legendary Witch Lich immediately.
Li Wei raised his left hand. A Bone Ring was hidden within the flesh of his left middle finger.
The Golden Bone Ring.
A treasure the Legendary Witch Lich had given him from the Dream World.
It was said to be a piece of Legendary Level equipment.
Currently, Li Wei was still unable to unleash the Golden Bone Ring’s full Power.
Besides controlling Undead Skeleton Monsters, the Golden Bone Ring could also summon the Twelve Deadpool.
Savinia the Bone Flute Dancer, Arno the Undead Minotaur Warrior, Mephit the Mountain Giant Beast, Dark Wind Trace, Elizabeth the Undying Ghost...
Li Wei already knew five of the Twelve Deadpool.
Through the Golden Bone Ring, he might be able to contact the Legendary Witch Lich and obtain the Soul Splitting Spell from him.
’But I’m not entirely sure if it will work.’
He glanced at Gu Sewei and said quickly, "Wait here for me."
With that, he turned and walked out of the cage.
Gu Sewei nodded. "Okay."
A glimmer of hope appeared in her eyes as she watched Li Wei’s departing figure.
Monice watched Li Wei leave, her thoughts unreadable.
Gu Sewei reached out and took Monice’s hand, finding it incredibly cold—not like a human’s hand at all.
She comforted her softly, "Monice, it’s going to be okay. Li Wei will definitely find a way to save you."
Feeling the warmth from Gu Sewei’s palm, the tense Monice slowly began to relax.
She didn’t speak, just stared quietly up at the ceiling, lost in thought.
After leaving the cage, Li Wei found a safe place.
He used the Power of the Golden Bone Ring.
His consciousness plunged into the Golden Bone Ring, sinking into a dark space.
Within the dark space, twelve dim figures of light appeared.
As he approached the figures of light, Li Wei could feel the distinct aura contained within each one.
These figures of light were the Soul Fires of the Twelve Deadpool, preserved within the Golden Bone Ring.
Li Wei could use the Soul Fires to summon the Twelve Deadpool to his side to fight for him.
Now, however, he didn’t need the Deadpool to fight for him.
He just needed one of the Deadpool to help him contact the Legendary Witch Lich and obtain the Soul Splitting Spell.
The problem was, Li Wei couldn’t use the Soul Fires within the Golden Bone Ring to communicate with the Twelve Deadpool over long distances.
Simply summoning one of the Deadpool here would be useless.
The Golden Bone Ring only had a summoning function; it couldn’t send the Deadpool back to where they came from.
Unless one of the Deadpool had the ability to communicate with the Legendary Witch Lich over an extreme distance.
Li Wei pondered for a long time, continuously sensing the twelve auras before him, trying to identify which Deadpool each Soul Fire represented.
The Soul Fires were almost identical; only their colors were slightly different.
Li Wei could only identify which Deadpool a Soul Fire belonged to by the distinct aura it contained.
So far, he could only pick out the five Deadpool he had already met.
As he sensed one particular aura, Li Wei’s spirit stirred.
’If it’s her, she might be able to do it.’
Li Wei looked at the translucent blue Soul Flame before him, reached out, grabbed it, and poured his Power into it to summon his target.
After selecting his target for the summoning, the surrounding dark space quickly receded.
Li Wei returned to the Ice Jade Palace, a translucent blue Soul Flame floating in his palm.
As he poured Mana into the Soul Flame,
the translucent blue Soul Flame rapidly expanded, forming a person-sized vortex from which a translucent figure gradually emerged.
WHOOSH!
The fiery vortex created by the Soul Fire dissipated, its sparks scattering and vanishing into the air.
Elizabeth, the Undying Ghost, appeared before Li Wei.
She gave Li Wei a noble’s curtsy. "Lord Li Wei."
Li Wei greeted her, "Elizabeth, long time no see."
After the pleasantries, Li Wei got straight to the point.
"Elizabeth, do you know any soul-splitting Magic? I seem to remember you having that kind of ability," Li Wei said.
Elizabeth replied, "I don’t know any soul-splitting Magic. My abilities are all instinctual."
"Is there a reason you ask, Lord Li Wei?"
Li Wei said, "Right now, I need to safely separate a person’s soul from their body."
Elizabeth considered this for a moment before replying, "My master might possess such an ability. I’m sorry, but I cannot do it."
Li Wei asked, "Where are your other bodies? Do you still have one over there?"
"Can you help me find your master and ask him to give me the Soul Splitting Spell?"
Elizabeth nodded. "Contacting my master is no problem."
"Please wait a moment. I have another body active elsewhere. It will take some time for it to return to camp."
Li Wei nodded. "Understood."
Glancing at the last rays of sunlight on the horizon, Li Wei thought of Torresta.
Torresta was gone.
Although the Legendary Witch Lich and Torresta were the same person,
Li Wei couldn’t bring himself to see them as one and the same.
Seeing Elizabeth, he couldn’t help but be flooded with memories of Torresta.
Li Wei asked, "What have you all been doing lately?"
Elizabeth stood quietly beside Li Wei and answered, "We have been gathering the Undead within the Ancient Battlefield and subjugating those who refuse to submit to our master."
Li Wei’s expression shifted. "Torresta... your master, what is he planning to do?"
Elizabeth shook her head. "I don’t know. Our master hasn’t told us. He simply gives each of us our missions."
Li Wei glanced at Elizabeth, then looked away and murmured, "Is that so?"
The Legendary Witch Lich gathering the Undead in the Ancient Battlefield... It was hard for Li Wei not to suspect he was planning to unleash a true Undead Calamity.
A few months ago, the Legendary Witch Lich had already started a small-scale Undead Calamity.
Millions of Undead had surrounded the Elemental Tower, causing it considerable damage.
However, compared to a true Undead Calamity, a few million Undead were nothing.
If all the Undead in the Ancient Battlefield were to leave it and attack Central Earth, it would be an absolute catastrophe.
Li Wei had no idea what the Legendary Witch Lich was truly planning.
Was he seeking revenge against someone in the Human Empire?
Or was he gathering all the power of the Undead in the Ancient Battlefield to challenge the Demon Dragon King?
TAP, TAP, TAP!
The sound of footsteps came from outside the courtyard.
Gu Sewei rushed into the courtyard and saw Li Wei and Elizabeth.
She eyed Elizabeth warily. "Li Wei, be careful!"
"Why is there an Undead here?"
Gu Sewei had sensed the aura of an Undead—and a powerful one at that, at least Tier Six.
That was why she had hurriedly left the cage and followed the Undead aura to find Elizabeth.
Li Wei saw Gu Sewei take out her Frost Staff, ready to fight.
He quickly raised a hand to stop her, shouting, "Wait, don’t be rash!"
After stopping Gu Sewei, Li Wei took a moment to explain Elizabeth’s origins.
Gu Sewei looked at Li Wei in surprise. "You can summon Undead? How do you know an Undead Mage’s Magic?"
A thought occurred to her. "Is it from the Arcane Magic Codex, too?"
Li Wei gave a wry smile and shook his head. "No. It’s a very complicated story, too long to explain right now. Just trust me, Elizabeth won’t hurt anyone."
"Elizabeth, this is Gu Sewei, the City Lord of Fred City."
Li Wei introduced Gu Sewei.
Elizabeth curtsied gracefully. "Greetings, Lord City Lord."
Gu Sewei stared at her for a moment, then grabbed Li Wei’s arm and said, "I’m more than just a City Lord. He’s mine."
Elizabeth looked at her, then glanced at Li Wei, a flicker of understanding in her eyes.
Li Wei could only smile and say nothing.
Once the misunderstanding was cleared up, Gu Sewei grew extremely curious about Elizabeth.
"Are you a Ghost? Why is your body transparent?" Gu Sewei asked.
"Yes, I am of the Ghost Race," Elizabeth said.
"Your body is transparent, so why are your clothes transparent too? How do you even wear them?"
...
As they talked, the conversation veered off topic.
Li Wei quickly cut off Gu Sewei’s questions. He looked at Elizabeth and asked, "How is it going?"
Elizabeth, who had been about to answer Gu Sewei, turned to answer Li Wei first.
She said, "My other body has returned to the camp. I should be able to see my master shortly."
"Master?" Gu Sewei looked puzzled.
Her gaze shifted between Li Wei and Elizabeth.
Gu Sewei asked, confused, "Li Wei, didn’t you summon her? Aren’t you her master?"
Before Li Wei could speak, Elizabeth explained, "Lord Li Wei is one of my masters. The master I was referring to is the one who created me."
Gu Sewei was stunned. "Someone who can create a Tier Six Ghost?"
’Just how powerful is this master Elizabeth speaks of?’
’And Li Wei actually knows such a powerful being?’
She instinctively turned to look at Li Wei.
Li Wei explained helplessly, "Elizabeth’s master is, in a sense, my teacher."
"Your teacher? But isn’t your teacher..."
Gu Sewei recalled what Gu Ze had told her.
She knew that while Gu Ze was Li Wei’s instructor, the true master who had actually taught him was someone else.
That person was the most powerful Mage in Gu Ze’s Mage Tower, as well as the master of the tower itself.
Elizabeth suddenly spoke. "My master has given me the Soul Splitting Spell."
Hearing this, Li Wei said with delight, "Excellent."
Then, his brow furrowed. "But if you can’t use Magic, how am I supposed to learn the Soul Splitting Spell?"
Elizabeth extended her hand. "If you take my hand, Lord Li Wei, you will be able to see it."
Without a second thought, Li Wei took Elizabeth’s outstretched hand.
It was soft, almost as if he were holding nothing at all.
The next moment, Li Wei felt a sensation as if their souls were merging.
Elizabeth was channeling a stream of power from her palm into Li Wei’s soul.
It was the Power of the Soul from Elizabeth herself.
