Chapter 140 - 169: A Mortal’s Sainthood, Known to the World; The 7th Sequence of the Evil Spirit Pavilion
The Celestial Net Sword!
Su Bai looked at the Golden Jade Longsword in his hand, his expression shifting slightly.
He had never heard this name before. Perhaps only a select few among the highest echelons of Great Xia knew anything about it.
Coming to his senses, Su Bai took the Celestial Net Sword and swung it casually through the air a few times. It sliced through the empty space before him, leaving streaks of golden brilliance. A resplendent Golden Dragon burst from the blade, soaring and roaring!
’This Celestial Net Sword isn’t half bad!’
It was much sharper than the black horn he had broken off of Chaos, and it felt better in his hand.
He peered into it with his Divine Thoughts, and his vision was immediately filled with scenes of corpse-mountains and blood-seas, of overwhelming Evil Qi, of a Demon Dragon blotting out the sun.
Heaven only knew how many Sword Masters this mysterious blade had passed through, or how much slaughter it had witnessed!
The sight was utterly horrifying!
The next moment, these terrifying images transformed into a surging, mountainous wave of intense killing intent. Like a tide, it crashed against Su Bai’s Divine Spirit again and again!
Su Bai frowned.
’A Demon Sword that devours its master? It can even influence the user’s will?’
After carefully examining it, Su Bai murmured to himself, ’Once its killing intent overwhelms your body and mind, you’ll become the Demon Sword’s complete puppet.’
’At that point, the Sword Master becomes a Sword Slave!’
At this thought, Su Bai’s expression grew serious.
Admittedly, the killing intent currently emanating from the Celestial Net Sword was not enough to shake his immense Divine Spirit.
As soon as the killing intent surged into his Sea of Consciousness, it was imperiously swallowed by golden waves and vanished without a trace.
But what if?
What if this thing’s power suddenly surged by tens of thousands of times? Wouldn’t Su Bai be at risk of a backlash from the Demon Sword?
’Forget it! It’s just a sword. I’ll just toss it back into the cavern. I can grab it again when I need it. It’s not like anyone else can take it!’
Su Bai mused to himself.
After inspecting the Celestial Net Sword, Su Bai lifted his gaze and looked into the depths of the cavern.
The Evil Qi was still endless, and Malice churned in the air!
With a flicker, Su Bai tightened his grip on the Celestial Net Sword and plunged deeper into the cavern!
With the Celestial Net Sword no longer blocking the way, his journey was quite smooth.
Su Bai soon arrived at the place where he had been forced to retreat last time.
In the void, black chains writhed madly like Demon Dragons. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but surging Evil Qi!
Su Bai leaped onto the thickest of the chains.
At the end of the chain, a corpse with a completely unrecognizable face sat quietly in a cross-legged position.
’This must be the Celestial Net Sword’s previous Sword Master!’
Looking at the corpse, Su Bai came to a realization.
He leaned down and searched carefully around the remains.
Finally, near where the corpse’s right finger bones rested, he found a line of small, engraved words—
"Third Sect Leader of Rashomon..."
He could only make out the first few words. The rest of the inscription had been blurred by the passage of time and the erosion of Demonic Qi.
’The Third Sect Leader of Rashomon!’
A flicker of light crossed Su Bai’s eyes, but he said nothing.
SHIICK!
He plunged the Celestial Net Sword back into the man’s chest, returning it to its rightful owner, so to speak.
Then he continued deeper.
The Evil Qi ahead grew denser and heavier!
Even with Su Bai pushing his Immortal Golden Body to its limits, he felt like he couldn’t absorb the sheer volume of it.
After breaking through its realm bottleneck, the Third Transformation Immortal Golden Body could once again absorb Evil Qi to increase its Experience Points.
Just by walking here for a short while, its Experience Points had already risen by several thousand!
Su Bai was both delighted and alarmed!
He was alarmed by whatever lay in the deepest part of the cavern, that it could release such an immense amount of Evil Qi!
He didn’t know how long he had been walking, but the Evil Qi absorbed along the way had already caused the Immortal Golden Body’s Experience Points to skyrocket by tens of thousands!
Su Bai finally reached the deepest part of the cavern.
The deepest part... he supposed!
There was no path leading any further in.
Su Bai stared fixedly at the object tethered at the end of all the massive black chains—
It was an incomparably huge object, like a great mountain.
A nine-story-tall tower of brilliant gold, covered in inscribed runes!
The tower sat in the deepest part of the cavern, and its base seemed to be Sealing something.
The tower was covered in horrifying, shocking cracks!
And it was from these shattered cracks that the almost endless Demon Evil Qi was leaking out.
Su Bai stood there for a long time.
Suddenly, he noticed that there seemed to be words carved into the tower.
He subconsciously took a step forward.
He focused his gaze and looked closely!
Carved on the body of the tower were two words—"Venerable Nine"!
...
Su Bai had just walked out from the depths of the prison and arrived at the Cyan Hall.
Longbo Hai, who had been waiting at the entrance for a long time, took a step forward and spoke with extreme reverence, "Congratulations, Senior, on stepping into the Martial Arts Saint Realm!"
Su Bai was taken aback.
Immediately, he spread his Divine Thoughts.
A moment later, he learned that he had once again caused a huge commotion!
’A Boxing Saint... So the realm bottleneck for the Fist Sect to advance to Boxing Saint is one million Experience Points beyond the Returning to the True Realm!’
It finally dawned on Su Bai.
His expression remained neutral as he glanced at Longbo Hai. "You’re quite perceptive."
"I wouldn’t dare claim so."
"It’s just that this junior was nearby, so I sensed the aura coming from the depths!"
"After thinking it over, I figured only Senior could have accomplished such a feat."
Longbo Hai gave a wry smile, then congratulated him again. "Congratulations, Senior, on breaking through to the Saint Realm. This is truly a blessing for Great Xia!"
Su Bai smiled but remained noncommittal.
"Actually, this junior came here specifically because I have two matters to report to Senior!"
After a few more pleasantries, the wily old Longbo Hai’s expression turned serious as he spoke.
Su Bai looked slightly surprised, then said, "Speak plainly."
"First, the Old Ancestor of Rashomon is planning a grand celebration for his thousandth birthday. He has sent a special invitation, hoping Senior will grace the ceremony with your presence!"
’Rashomon’s Old Ancestor is having a birthday celebration?’
’What does that have to do with me?’
Without even thinking, Su Bai shook his head. "I’m not going."
Longbo Hai didn’t press the issue and continued, "Second, the Old Sword God from the Outer Realm’s Celestial Sword Sect would like to invite Senior to visit the Celestial Sword Sect for a chat!"
"He is also a contemporary Sword Saint!"
"Not going to that either."
Su Bai didn’t bother chatting any longer with Longbo Hai. He simply left him with one final sentence.
"If they want to see me, they can come themselves!"
With that, Su Bai stepped into the air and vanished in a flash.
Longbo Hai stared blankly at the empty space before him, the words caught in his throat sinking back into his heart.
Then, he sighed deeply!
When one enters the Saint Realm, the entire world knows!
The Old Ancestor of Rashomon, the Old Sword God of the Celestial Sword Sect...
Countless people in this world would do anything just for a chance to meet them, a chance they would never get.
But this one... he just did as he pleased, not giving them an ounce of face.
Only he could be so domineering!
...
With invitations from both the Old Ancestor of Rashomon and the Old Sword God of the Celestial Sword Sect, Su Bai had thought the commotion he caused this time would be even bigger than the last!
Only later did he discover...
...the commotion was much smaller than he had imagined.
Or rather...
...the people who were shaken by it were of a much higher echelon.
To the common people, the disturbance caused by him becoming a Boxing Saint was, at most, just a strange incident.
Strange things were always happening in the Imperial City, and this matter was quickly forgotten.
「One morning.」
Su Bai was eating breakfast on the street.
He happened to see a procession of exquisite horse-drawn carriages speed past him!
Like a gust of wind, they were gone in an instant.
It was the entourage from the Prime Minister’s Mansion!
"Huh?"
When Su Bai’s Divine Sense swept over them, he was surprised and suspicious.
His gaze shifted as he sensed a faint trace of Demon Qi!
He immediately used the Soaring Snake Transformation to conceal his presence and stealthily followed them.
...
"I’m afraid I’ll have to trouble you both for this trip, Mr. Wang and Lord Tao!"
Inside the carriage, Minister Chen bowed respectfully to the two men.
One of them was handsome and dashing, with the air of a refined gentleman.
The other was an ordinary-looking, white-haired old man.
The handsome middle-aged man, named Wang Feng, smiled warmly and said slowly, "The Prime Minister’s devotion to the nation is a great service. We Martial Artists will certainly ensure your safety. It is our duty!"
"Chancellor Chen, there is no need for such formalities."
Chancellor Chen gave a wry smile. "This time, word came from the Fate Peeping Pavilion that the assassin ranked as the Seventh Sequence in the Evil Spirit Pavilion has publicly declared he will take my head!"
"If it were just me, I would have no fear!"
"But I fear for my family... that they will be caught in the crossfire..."
