Gundam Fire Still

The Battle of Gundam Remains Chapter 117

==========================

Welcome to the Radiant Waste Land, a new age of humanity.

End:L5's Bloody Wolfsbane - The Most Likely Ending

No miracles, no skyfall Deusexmachina, no alien intervention, everything must be resolved in the most primitive and normal way possible.

That would be iron and fire.

In order to stop that weapon of mass destruction aimed at Earth (and in order not to cause panic, Earth's governments have consciously not leaked any more details about Zaft's WMD), even the most rigid and stubbornly neutral forces on Earth had to make their stance known. When on one side of the scale are the lives of about half the people on the planet - and that may include the population of one's own country - the weight of the principles, traditions, remnants of humanitarianism, or cultural values placed on the other side of the scale add up to near zero.

And so the ORB's lone, witness to a portion of the truth flagship was also present in L5's outlying ufdoms, apparently docked a little farther to the side of the Combine's fleet array in a deliberate attempt to draw a line with the Combine.

Zaft's main force, meanwhile, was based at the PLANT satellite cluster's tentacle Boaz Fortress, which extended out towards Earth, and in its wake, Yakin. Multidimensional. But the three-dimensional nature of the universe dictated that the spherical defensive ring that the two fortresses could hold up was far too large to cover the entire three-dimensional PLANT satellite cluster. While some of the fleets faced off at the front of the fortress, on its side away from Earth, the fleets belonging to the Combined Forces formed a semi-encirclement of the satellite cluster - incidentally cutting off the cluster from the moon surface base.

And Zaft's mobile fleet did nothing in the meantime. Shortly after the three NASCARs pursuing the renegade ships returned to L5 from their L4 voyage, Zaft recalled all their ships as if they had been electrocuted. To some military commentators, this was clearly an absurd action, and abandoning fleet maneuvering to hold before the Great War approached was tantamount to voluntarily giving up the initiative.

But it was easily explained to those who knew something of the truth, Patrick. Sara, the tough, but at the same time headstrong ruler, was fearing betrayal and did not want any army out of his grasp.

Shortly after the fleet recall, a piece of bad news that had made many circles around the gravel belt and the moon was placed on the desk of a small group of decision makers on the Earth side. It seemed the old Sara was more angry at the Kleinites for their betrayal and their attempt to compromise this aspect of Earth than she was at her own senior advisor and trusted commander for trading with the Blue Perestroika, and angry at her son for returning with the bad news.

No one has seen Aslan D. since the three NASCAR ships returned to L5. Sara up, the provider of this intelligence suspects that he was grounded, if not imprisoned.

Apparently, the intelligence came from the Terminal, an organization with roots in PLANT and some overlap with the Moderates, but with a more military and operational bent that was actively and abandoning some of the preconceived notions of being part of the Adjuster's peace side of Earth - although there had been a turnaround with the ORB through the Waste Dealers organization.

After a series of secret negotiations, they reached some sort of unspoken agreement before the Earth Armada fleet began to advance, and it was clear to both the Atlantic Federation, Eurasia, and East Asia that the organization called Terminal had some ambitions for a post-war PLANT, but the agreement clearly showed that Terminal could prove their worth.

It's hard to say where the whole thing started.

For the combined forces facing the Boaz Fortress head-on on the first line, the battle began with an uncharacteristic exchange of artillery fire, particle cannons, magnetron and live rounds slicing through and illuminating the cosmic void between the fleet and the fortress, and some sparks began to bloom on both sides of the formation.

But for others, that was actually the least important part of the battle.

For them, the battle began inside the PLANT satellite cluster.

The Zaft, clearly aware of their own disadvantage in terms of lack of supplies, was in the midst of an intensive military expansion, and a large number of early Ginn models, obsolete by the front-line pilots, were being parked in the plazas and stadiums of the satellites, to be used as training for the "volunteers" and, soon, probably as props for the battle. With both new and experienced pilots already in short supply, it was the only way to use the excellent adaptability and physical abilities of the adjusters to recruit temporary volunteers.

Then a voice rang out over the public address system of every colonial satellite, over the speakers under the big propaganda screens in the streets, and also over the public channels of these MS communications (having the public channels on all the time was an ongoing bad habit of the MS pilots of PLANT, it seemed), and it was a voice familiar to most of the PLANT population, Sigel. Klein's voice. Then the familiar figure of the speaker also cut into the large screens and TV channels of the plaza, the old man slightly thinner and haggard than he had been before he was wanted, but with the same gentle tone as usual, and at the same time, as usual, firm in his gentleness.

As many could have expected, he was calling for peace, for PLANT to stop this war that had shed too much blood, and, for Zaft not to use nuclear weapons.

As bizarre as it may sound, the fear and hatred of nuclear has been ingrained in the PLANT population since the tragedy of U7, and compared to the preceding, appealing but actually clichéd words, this last explosive statement left those who heard it wide-eyed.

And then the bold act of leaking also visibly irritated the nerves of Mr. Zaft, the Commander-in-Chief, who was in one of the control rooms, and who clearly didn't like having his base shaken from behind in the face of coalition pressure on the front lines. But now that the nuclear weapon had been poked out by that traitor, there was no need for him to keep it hidden any longer.

Located between the L5 satellite cluster and the Yakin . The massive object between the Dovey Fortress began to uncloak, and at the same time a small team was sent out to search for the traitor who was hiding in the satellite cluster.

Siegel made no attempt to hide at all, and was taking to the streets in a last-ditch effort.

He knew what that gamma ray cannon could do, but he couldn't say it, but he couldn't make himself indifferent, just as he couldn't be indifferent to the attacks and persecution of Adjusters in his youth.

His connections and wealth were enough to allow him to flee PLANT, but he chose to use any means at his disposal to broadcast to the entire PLANT; in fact not only PLANT, but the Combined Fleet encircling the cluster of satellites in the rear hemisphere of PLANT could hear the speech being delivered by high-powered communications antennae.

Then they too witnessed the end of the speech.

Siegel, who was marching through the streets of April City, the PLANT capital, in a crowd of people, crossed paths with an oncoming barrage of bullets.

"The singing has stopped!"

The code was transmitted to the outside world from a communications relay placed on the outer wall of the colonial satellite, probably the first time the Terminal Organization had communicated directly with the Combine without a neutral force pulling the strings.

Then they started a second part of their operation as well, and an engineering MS that was filling the gamma-ray cannon called Genesis with nuclear reaction fuel suddenly broke off from its original trajectory, holding the nuclear fuel canister that had been deactivated from the safety device in its hand and chose to self-destruct in the center of the entire satellite dish-like reflector. The blast of wind blew away the surrounding engineering MS and the nuclear fuel they were holding, and even with the protection of the heavy armor, the central portion of the reflector's fuel tank remained in an unusable state.

This was the last time the Terminal Organization's men were buying.

The combined forces at the back of the PLANT began their advance, there was no longer any barrier between their front and the satellite cluster, in their orders the rules of engagement were different from those of the forces holding up the front of the fortress, they were instructed not to fire on civilians and non-military targets, and the same priority should be given to the armed men to persuade them to surrender rather than fire - apparently they had been given the right information, the temporarily recruited Adjuster militia did not have the same fanatical loyalty to the Zaft.

The "militia" that was supposed to stand in their way was killed because of Siegel Klein's speech. Many of them laid down their weapons, while others turned their guns on the Zaft soldiers who were their instructors. The casualties suffered by the combined forces in some of the satellites were more likely to be caused by the firing between the PLANT and the Zaft Salarians.

The Eurasian and Atlantic Federation fleets and MS were forced to sabotage the outer walls of the satellites during the fight over several of the satellites, causing some civilian casualties. But a worse fact occurred in April City.

As the capital of PLANT, the Atlantic Federation, East Asia and Eurasia all demanded that fleets be sent to capture it, and so ended up turning their backs from it to Yakin . The detachment approaching from that side of Fortress Dovi was a mixture of fleets from all three nations, and with the addition of the 'Terminal' group's Eternal, whose actions had earned them the capital to participate in the occupation.

But they were all shocked at what they had seen. April City, Siegel. The street where Klein, the famed Adjuster social activist was conducting the last demonstration of his life, was covered in blood, and the bodies of large numbers of, unarmed civilians apparently shot to death were strewn about the street. Sporadic gunshots could even be heard from a little further away, and the first responding 'terminal' group sent their Adjuster members to restore order, and after stopping more Salarian fanatics from attempting to kill or injure the Kleinian masses involved in the demonstration, street battles broke out between the PLANT Supreme Jury and Zaft. .

Three hours and 18 minutes later, the Supreme Jury building was occupied and the JFC declared the entire PLANT satellite complex occupied.

Patrick Sara, located in the Genesis control room, ordered the defenders of the two fortresses to open fire on the PLANT satellite cluster. Sara ordered the defenders of both fortresses to fire on the coalition forces landing on the satellite cluster, including the cluster itself, which was occupied by the coalition forces and largely intact.

Fourteen minutes later, Fort Boyaz declared a halt to combat operations.

32 minutes later, Yakin. Dovi declared a ceasefire.

One hour and 12 minutes later, there was an unidentified explosion in the Genesis core, from which a lifeboat and dinghy emerged.

Zaft Commander-in-Chief Patrick. Sara's voice was lost from the radio, he was not among the adjusters rescued from the lifeboats and dinghies and has been missing ever since.
