Hakai no Miko
Lesson 23 Gold Coins
On that day, the king of Holmea, Walius Sadma Holmeanis, was responding to the sight of the envoys and dignitaries who visited the Royal Palace of Holmea.
It is part of my affairs as king and the sight of the royal palace as usual. King Walius was also able to conduct pale affairs, such as meeting with the envoys, listening to the petitions of the powerful, and consulting with the ministers who would be in line if there were any problems with them.
And the last one, who was allowed to worship King Walius that day, was passed through during the sight.
"Yo ho! I am so grateful to His Majesty King Walius Sadma Holmeanis, the great King of Holmea!
It was Joash Shapiro who greeted him with an exaggerated gesture, when he entered during his gaze.
King Walius, frowned upon by a thin narrative as if it were a dogma, asks his squire, who is this guy, who refrains by his side. Then the samurai snuck his ear.
"We're at the Shapiro Chamber of Commerce."
King Walius had also heard rumors about the "Great Ugly of the Shapiro Chamber of Commerce". It was painful to have to devote precious time to such a fool, but it cannot be left unscathed in the Chamber of Commerce of Menahem Shapiro, one of the ten members of the merchant guild of Jeboa.
King Walius concealed his dissatisfaction, labored Joash, who visited the Royal Palace of Holmea all the way, and asked for its purpose. Then, Joash first enters from his greeting at an unusual time, complaining that the merchant guild of Jeboa is in trouble without being able to pass through the city of Bornis, pleading for the revival of the trade route as soon as possible.
Leaving the city of Bornis under control by a rebellious slave is outrageous even as King Walius. Not to say clearly how long, but King Walius promises to regain the city of Bornis as soon as possible.
From conversations like the social dictionary where such kings and merchants interact, Joash cut the point at once.
As a matter of fact, when I stopped in the city of Bornis, His Majesty's brother, you gave me the honor of worshipping His Highness Vritas, and His Highness entrusted me with a letter.
The air in the chamber swayed deliberately at the name of the king's brother, who jumped out of Joash's mouth.
In it, Joash uses his forged throat as a sailor to read out Vritas' letter.
Vritas was dull and dark, but apparently only talented in poetry. The letter began by appealing to the brotherly sentiment, lamenting the ill fortune of visiting us, and speaking emotionally of the spiciness of the present situation. That is enough that the court ministers, who hate Vritas furiously, accidentally clog their chests.
"As it was, His Highness was too pitiful. So when I pleaded with the head of the rebel slave who illegally occupies his (or) land, the soma xaki man, for the liberation of His Royal Highness the King Brother, I was told:" If you pay for the expenses you have incurred so far while keeping His Royal Highness the King, it will not be a bluff either, "he said."
Finally, you're asking for ransom from afar, King Walius interpreted.
"I see. It depends. - So, how much money are the slaves demanding?
"If you do, 50,000 gold coins"
King Walius was stunned by the amount offered by Joash.
"Give that pig such a lot of money...?
But the amount offered by Joash is by no means expensive, if you consider it to be the figure of one royalty. Rather, as for the royal ransom demand, let's say a critical amount too low to be ashamed of.
But brothers' affection for each other is thin in royalty, which kicks each other down for the throne even though it is a parent brother, and sometimes even points the blade of assassination. Not to mention the unexpected amount of ransom for King Walius, who thought only of his brother and other fat pigs. If this is the case, it's better to pay the real pigs as much as you can still eat meat.
"All of you slaves......! I don't know if I've just defied the rest or even demanded money, but I've got enough on my face!
King Walius, so open that he seemed to pop out of his gully eyes, shudders his whole body with a grasp of his elbow hanging with the kind of force he tries to grip.
Joash thought this was a bad idea.
I knew King Walius' eclampsia, but I didn't think it would be as good as this.
I have not even realised that leaving Vritas trapped in the city of Bornis as it is will leave internal and external problems for the Holmeer State.
King Walius and Vritas are still brothers who divided their blood. Vritas, the king's brother, was famous for his folly, but King Walius, who could not see things when blood went up on his head, was also foolish as a monarch who kept the country. Besides, this darkness has a blade of kingship, which makes it even worse.
But even if we talk about the profits of buying out Vritas here, King Walius will instead cause eclampsia.
It is clear that King Walius has a strong jealousy for those who are better than him, given that he only once lost the battle against Darius, who was called the Supreme General of Holmea, scolded before the generals, and ordered prudence without allowing any defense.
But if you think that the person in this hand is inferior to you, it's more of a listening to this one to inspire your excellence.
Moving as others thought it would have been, but Joash decided to ride the pale horse's plan.
Joash even poses as an attitude he doesn't suspect because he believes he has done good for Holmea. I'm pretending to be a big-time liar, as rumored, who misunderstands the reason for King Walius's fury and just believes that he will give his credit for his accomplishments. Joash showed it by playing with only a few facial expressions and tone changes.
"What makes you angry is you. It is also impossible to suppose that a mere 50,000 gold coins is an insult to the ransom of Holmea's noble blood muscles. But think of it as winning with my tongue."
Besides, I don't forget to say just 50,000 pieces of gold and make them smell out of the blue that if you refuse to do so, you'll be exposed to shame.
To this, King Walius just as well had no choice but to contain the eclampsia.
Furthermore, Joash divulges serious information while playing a trick that makes him good at it.
"We're also supposed to get an intermediary fee, but naturally, we're going to take it from the head of the slave. We've already taken Rodonia gold as a deposit from them."
And not only King Walius, but the chief ministers that were with him, were dismayed.
The Rodonian gold coin is the currency of the Romanian nation of hatred. Regardless of the silver or copper coins generally in circulation, gold coins are the only currencies used in large business deals and awards. When it comes to being paid as a ransom negotiating fee for 50,000 pieces of gold, it should be quite an amount. If all of that were to have been paid as Rodonian gold coins, it can only be assumed that the hands of the Romanian state extend to the rebel slaves.
When that happens, the value of Vritas' physique, who is a prisoner, changes.
It was not all the glory of King Walius that the Holmeer nation had not so far demanded of the Ethereal Horses the stature of Vritas that they could bargain with every slave. For for the Holmeer country, Vritas' figure was not of much value.
It wasn't just that he had problems with his own character and predisposition. In the Holmeer country, where King Walius is alive and has an adult prince, there was little chance that the throne would turn to Vritas, the king's younger brother, even if he had the right to inherit the throne, and his value as a substitute for the king was low.
But still, it's no different to a royal family with the right to inherit the throne.
If the Romanian nation gains the stature of Vritas, it will hold him hostage to King Holmeer and force King Walius to leave. And if we stick with it, it is imperative that the Romanian State enter the Holmeer State with the great nickname of having responded to the request of King Vritas of Holmeer.
In that case, even if we know that is the plot of the Romanian State, it is nominally a seizure of the throne by our brothers. Even if we understand that we have to unite and intercept the Romanian state, the Hormeans will be greatly upset as to which King Walius or Vritas should be. All that or even the fear that some of the marquis in the area close to the Romanian state will use this as an opportunity to replace it with a Romanian state.
King Walius has managed to contain his eclampsia now just to figure it out, but I don't know how long he can keep it either. He was still dyeing his face red and black and shaking his whole body with a pull.
"Your Majesty!
One of the ministers, who remembered the danger in King Walius's condition, raises his voice in haste.
"When it comes to His Highness Vritas' personality, the importance of the state. I know I won't be able to answer you as soon as possible. How would you like to come back to Lord Joash and reply after consulting with the Minister?
Besides, King Walius shook his head vertically in a giddy move.
◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆
"Whoa! That pig! Something good if you're damaging yourself...!
As Joash left the room, King Walius' fury echoed into the chamber of sight.
"Sire, please calm your anger. Fortunately, Bu... no, His Highness Vritas has not yet fallen into Romanian hands."
Furthermore, the Minister adds that he explains that it is difficult to transfer Vritas, whose face is known as the King's brother, to the Romanian country because he must cross the Holmeer country to get from Bornis to Romania, and manages to calm King Walius.
"No way! If you just stand by and make the king call you a king, you'll have to put it on your license!
But King Walius shouted furiously.
"All of you old Doldea! You cunning romaniac! Have you fallen that far to join hands with the filthy slaves!
The more he curses, the more anger King Walius gets. At last, that anger drives reason away.
"Come on, it's Dordea, King of Romanias! After that, he'll lead the army, screw the slaves down first, and then attack Romanian!
Besides, the chief ministers change the blood phase and spoken of King Walius.
"Your Majesty! That won't happen!
"The rebels in the city of Bornis are in the rats. If we're serious, let's twist and crush it easily. But don't forget the old wolf waiting for the lion to turn his back in an attempt to twist and crush the rat!
A lion is a Holmeer country that draws it on its flag. And I mean the Romanian state and the old king Dordea, who paints it on the flag as well as the old wolf. The heavy ministers say that if they try to attack the city of Bornis, the Romanian state will attack them from the thin east.
"It's on your left! If we think of it in terms of the hands-on nature of the slaves' insurgency, it could possibly be called a Romanian plot from the outset. Don't get on that hand!
That, it was a total misunderstanding, is a more convincing story than just a rebellion of Zoan and slaves to be told that he had received support from Romania, given that he had hitherto struck down forts and cities one after another and even defeated General Darius, who was praised as the best General of Holmea.
Other heavy ministers also spoken out to Warius asking for restraint.
Among these heavy ministers, it is those who have been overheard beforehand by Joash about the possibility that their own sons and daughters may survive, especially strongly, to King Walius.
The only reason they had ever solemnly proclaimed negotiations to bring back their own children was because King Walius had left Vritas alone. We can't have our own children back before Brother Wang, and they watched King Walius ignore Vritas. There, he said he had cut out the ransom bargain from the other side because of it, but he had no ex or son to reject it by King Walius.
And so, they were desperate.
And I'm not King Walius who doesn't know how much or what it is.
King Walius rises from the throne again, staring at his face bright red and running his eyes blood, eating up his critical teeth.
"Be good to me!
When he throws it away, King Walius leaves it between his eyes. Besides, the heavy ministers stroked down their breasts with a ho that they had managed to keep in mind, but the next moment they shrugged their necks at the sound of objects being severely knocked down from across the aisle from which King Walius had left.
◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆
From the entrance to the Royal Palace of Holmea, a man came out in absurd footsteps.
He was a man with short, burnt brown hair and a dark jaw beard on his face. On top of the fine garments, he wore ornaments so loud that they made noisy noises, but he wore a wild (yahiko) atmosphere reminiscent of some burglar or bandit's head.
This man's name is Pyremon. He is a slave trader who was allowed to enter and leave the Royal Palace of Holmea.
"Sir, what have you done?
A man who serves him as a valet asks terribly of Pyremon, who boarded the roofed garden that kept him waiting in the plaza of the king's capital. Pyremon threw up abominably as the four slaves swayed their bodies to take charge of them.
"The Great Ugly of the Shapiro Chamber of Commerce." You're blowing in something extra... "
Pyremon has built enormous wealth to date by buying in rare slaves from the centre of the continent to the west, and vice versa by selling slaves of rare races in the centre of the continent.
But the rebellion of the slaves of Bornis had just deprived them of the slaves they had bought by wearing large sheets, after which the trade route to Jeboa had been closed and they had suffered great losses.
So to revive the trade corridor as soon as possible, I had previously burned (burned) the Bornis recapture by sprinkling huge pieces of gold on the Royal Palace of Holmea, but it was all ruined, too, because Joash hinted at the involvement of the Bornis slaves and the Romanian state. It is a story that the ministers who made them sniff nose drugs say that it will take years to recapture Bornis.
My husband told me that the Bornis retrieval was going to be far away, and I showed him a bare gesture that cared about his surroundings, then eared to Pyremon.
"I had trouble with that. - Everyone in the Empire still wants to eat fish."
Pyremon laughed it off.
"Ha! You're on your own. You want it when you don't see it while you get rid of it yourself!
"Because of that, we're making money."
Pyremon also responds with the same kind of grin to the depraved laughter of the modern age.
"No, hey."
Then when he took it seriously, Pyremon dived into his voice and said:
"Tell Jeboa's 'fisherman'. Whatever you do, send the fish over here."
"But how can I carry it without going through Bornis...?
Pyremon will be the face that chewed up the bitter bug in the words of his hand.
"Tell him to think about it too! South of Bornis, you're building a path, right? Worst case scenario, it's good to have invested there. Expenses are painful, but without eyeball products, you can go and sell them to the Empire."
Pyremons sink into cushions laid on top of each other.
"You can carry the shipment from the Empire via the Romanian state, but only Jeboa is the purchaser of 'fish'. No way, you can't carry 'fish' by sea. - You Bornis slaves. I'll pay you back in double one day."
Pyremon blew his tongue.
◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆
"50,000 gold coins. I will certainly give it to you."
Joash, who brought a pot filled with gold coins from the Holmeer country into the Lordship's residence in Bornis, said so to the Ethereal Horse with a full grin. Michena, who was just waiting, begins to check the quality and number of gold coins with her men.
With that sidelined, the Ethereal Horse says thank you to Joash.
"Negotiations with Holmea, helped"
"No, it was a good deal for this one too. - I'm sorry to interrupt, but I'd like you to surrender your highness."
The Ethereal Horse, who accepted Joash's request, instructs Eladia, who had refrained by his side, to hand over Vritas' figure to Joash.
"I'd like to continue to entrust you with negotiating the ransom for the nobles who are captives, okay?
At the request of the Ethereal Horse, Joash opens his arms wide to show his welcome.
"Yo ho! Of course I am. So can I have a roster of people who are prisoners?
The Ethereal Horse gave him the roster of prisoners he had prepared. In anticipation of the moment Joash attempts to receive it, the Ethereal Horse strikes at him unexpectedly.
"What does Mr. Joash intend to draw from the nobility of Holmea?
When he asks for an intermediary for this negotiation, Aoima only says he wants to negotiate a ransom for his king brother Vritas. Yet, at the end of the negotiations the other day, the Ethereal Horse was concerned that Joash had asked about other prisoners he had not spoken of.
It's hard to believe that a man with as many heads around as Joash misheard the story. Rather, from the outset, Aeoma thought that Joash's purpose was not in Vritas, but in the possession of his noble brothers.
And when I thought about the reason, it occurred to me that the Shapiro Chamber of Commerce was dominated by maritime trade and Joash's word that he had not extended his hand to land.
If the Shapiro Chamber of Commerce, previously dominated by maritime trade, tried to extend its hand in commerce over land, the asylum of those in power on the land would be indispensable.
But there are other merchants that fit in there, and there are no gaps in the entry of newcomers at last.
Except if the descendants of those in power had been taken prisoner of Bornis. You can sell favors to those in power as intermediaries in negotiations, or you can demand exclusive rights on the land for collateral that replaces the ransom. The Shapiro Chamber of Commerce will reap much greater profits than the brokerage fees paid by Ethereal Horse.
However, this is only a reasoning and no certainty of the Ethereal Horse.
If you get stuck with me about something, that's it.
Now, as the Ethereal Horse watched how to return it, Joash smiled nicely.
"Hey. Did you find out?
Joash didn't get any worse, he admitted softly.
Ethereal horses also laugh bitterly at Joash, who smiles like a child whose little prank (prank) has been found out.
"Isn't it cheating to take brokerage fees from me after increasing the number of business partners in the Chamber of Commerce?
"No, I can't open this."
Joash pounded his hand.
"So, no brokerage fees for this one, so what?
"Is that all?
To the Ethereal Horse, who said he wasn't convinced just to make the brokerage fee free, Joash asked, "What do you want?," he asked. Then, the Ethereal Horse says clearly.
"Friendship."
Besides, Joash keeps a small eye out.
"Yo-ho! Friendship is! You got a lot out of this. - But nothing is more expensive than friendship. Not to mention that if they are merchants, they must always show that they are worth it."
Can you do that? and Joash provokes extraordinarily.
Besides, the pale horse responded with a smile.
"Of course. We'll be bigger."
Joash stared into the eyes of a pale horse. The Ethereal Horse stares back motionlessly at Joash's gaze, as if he were going to pass behind the eyeball and see it through to its cerebral cord.
And after a while, Joash smiled all the time.
"I can't be a merchant guild, but let me be my personal friend. So, how about that?
The Ethereal Horse firmly grips back Joash's right hand, which was so said and offered.
"Please help us from now on."
"Yo ho! Doesn't that and this depend on the value you show?
The Ethereal Horse had no choice but to be frightened by Joash, who had nothing to do with it until the end.
◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆
As Joash walked away from the Lords' residence, Shemr, who had endured until then, exploded.
"Damn, I'm angry!
The other day, he had been stabbed with a big nail by Eladia, so he was never able to hide his anger at Joash's attitude, which he had put up with as if he would never speak out, but he could not hide his anger at Joash's attitude, which he did not apologize for, leaving the Ethereal Horse fooled.
The Ethereal Horse accidentally leaks a bitter laugh at Shemru, who becomes more cannibal and angry than he is at the time of his deception. Then the spearhead of Shemr's wrath, which he blamed on it, was directed at the pale horse.
"Soma! You're too sweet. He made me sick. To a guy like that, you just have to say" Gatsung "! Why don't you let me tell you what to do?
Not only do I say gatung, but the Ethereal Horse deceives her as "so-so," even though she is pressed by Shemr's sword curtain, which is likely to bring her up to the Mountain Knife.
"But that guy with the hand, whatever he says, won't do it because he's going to get away with it. This time, you can write it off and make a loan and make some money."
Exactly, all of a sudden we didn't even go as far as improving our relationship, but we still had a point of contact for negotiations with the Merchant Guild, which was just hostile. In the future, through Joash, we will be able to sell in our own value and go. This could be called a big step forward.
If they say that until then, I won't be able to say anything to Shemr. Still, the pale horse grips the fist of his right hand and shows it to Shemr, who shows it wrinkled on his nose like a stubborn one.
"Now be ridiculed, but be patient and accumulate strength. We can be stronger. That's how you got the money."
"What. Are you still going to do something?
He has already invested in Dwarf's workshop in the development of the plains and has worked on a variety of things. Yet when Shemr asked what more he would do on this, the Ethereal Horse smiled and showed him.
"Yeah. I'm gonna build an orphanage and a school in this city."
