Chapter 1139 – Overworked Executive Brain

Those were delicious words.

Dangerously delicious.

Lux looked at her for one long second, his smile slowly losing its civilized edges.

She wanted the beast?

Fine.

But she should understand something first.

There was a difference between a demon losing control and a demon deciding to stop pretending he had none.

He caught her chin.

"Careful what you wish for."

Lilith’s eyes gleamed. "I’ve been waiting centuries for something interesting, Little Greed. Don’t disappoint me."

Lux kissed her.

Harder this time.

The playful distance between them vanished. He pulled her against him, and Lilith answered immediately, laughing against his mouth before catching his collar and drawing him closer. Her fingers slipped into his hair, ruining whatever remained of his carefully maintained appearance.

Goodbye, expensive hairstyle.

You served Hell Finance honorably.

Lux’s hand settled at her waist, and the kiss deepened. Her warmth, her perfume, the ancient power humming beneath her skin, everything about her was a beautiful invitation to make terrible decisions.

And his Lust?

Oh, his Lust was absolutely delighted.

It rose through him like dark fire, awakening every instinct he had spent years teaching to behave in public.

Lilith felt it.

Her lips curved against his.

"There you are."

Lux answered by kissing her again.

She was no passive participant. Her hands wandered over his shoulders and chest, learning him with the shameless curiosity of someone who had never needed permission to admire something beautiful.

He let her.

More than that, he enjoyed it.

Every appreciative touch fed his vanity. Every little smile made his Greed purr. And when she tugged at his unbuttoned shirt as though offended that expensive fabric stood between her and a perfectly good demon prince, he laughed.

"That’s custom-made."

"Then it should be accustomed to suffering."

He liked her.

That was becoming a problem.

A very attractive problem with ancient power, and absolutely no respect for clothing budgets.

He kissed her once more, and she pulled him closer until they were both laughing softly, breath mingling, their little contest of control becoming less about winning and more about discovering how much the other enjoyed losing.

Lilith’s laughter faded into a wicked smile.

Her lips left his mouth and wandered along his jaw, lingering beneath his ear before tracing a slow path down his neck. The warmth of her breath followed every kiss. When her tongue brushed his skin, Lux’s fingers tightened instinctively around her waist.

She noticed.

The ancient goddess smiled against his throat, evidently delighted that a man who could negotiate with Heaven and threaten Hell’s king could still be distracted by something so wonderfully simple.

Lux tilted his head, giving her room.

A terrible decision.

An excellent decision.

Lilith continued down to his collarbone. She explored the hard lines of his chest with unhurried curiosity, alternating teasing kisses with gentle touches that made his composure increasingly expensive to maintain.

Lux answered by drawing her closer.

His hands traveled along her back before settling at her waist. He brushed a kiss against her shoulder, then another at the base of her neck.

Lilith’s eyes fluttered closed.

For someone who had once brought civilization to Hell, she seemed remarkably interested in encouraging its collapse.

Their kisses grew hungrier. The candlelight trembled around them, and the shadows climbed the walls as their powers intertwined.

Lux’s restraint remained intact.

Then Lux carried her.

Lilith’s back met the wall with a soft thud.

Not enough to hurt.

Enough to make her eyebrows rise. "Oh?"

Lux planted one hand beside her head. His other arm circled her waist. "Still interested in the uncivilized version?"

Lilith looked up at him.

Then smiled. "Very."

He lowered his mouth to hers.

The candles flickered.

Ancient shadows curled along the walls, responding to the power rising between them. His dark-gold aura slipped through the room, mingling with her black-red radiance until the mansion seemed to have acquired an extremely inappropriate sunset.

The servants wisely remained absent.

Good employees.

Excellent judgment.

Lux’s pheromones thickened in the air, carrying that familiar mixture of dark honey, smoke, and temptation. His Lust surged higher, encouraged by her enthusiasm, her laughter, the way she met every kiss with another.

And yet... Something remained closed.

Not his body.

Not his desire.

Something deeper.

A door inside him.

Locked.

His Lust pressed forward.

His Greed held it back.

An interesting disagreement.

Normally, when he was with his women, those two instincts moved together. Desire and possession. Passion and devotion. The hunger to hold someone close and the certainty that they wanted to stay.

With Lilith, they weren’t quite aligned.

His Lust wanted everything.

His Greed said... "Not yet".

𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

He wanted to let himself go.

Really.

He wanted to stop thinking, stop calculating, stop listening for danger behind beautiful words. For once, he wanted his infernal instincts to take the wheel while his overworked executive brain enjoyed a well-deserved vacation.

Apparently, the executive brain had installed a security system.

Wonderful.

Even his subconscious required authorization.

Lilith noticed the change before he could hide it.

Naturally.

She was an ancient goddess.

And, more annoyingly, observant.

Her fingertips brushed his temple. "You’re thinking again."

Lux smiled. "Occupational disease."

"During this?"

"Especially during this."

"How terribly Greed of you."

She drew him into another kiss, slower now, testing his response.

He answered.

His hands remained warm against her waist. His mouth was eager. His desire was unmistakable.

But that invisible door inside him stayed shut.

Lilith pulled back slightly. Then smirked. "You seem to be restraining yourself, hm, Little Greed?"

Lux met her eyes. "Do I?"

"Oh, yes."

She traced the line of his jaw.

"I can feel your Lust. It’s practically trying to devour the room. But something keeps pulling you back."

Lux was silent.

Lilith tilted her head. "Why?"

He considered making a joke.

A good one.

Something about risk management, compliance departments, or quarterly reports on ancient goddess seduction.

But she was looking at him too closely.

And for once, a joke felt like a cheap answer. "Let’s say," he murmured, "my Lust says yes."
