Chapter 1007: Reborn
Chapter 1007 – Reborn
Lullaby, still trembling beneath him, opened hazy eyes. "Lux..."
Her voice was soft.
Lux tried to answer, but another wave hit him.
The system flared harder.
[Foreign Clause Residue: Purging]
[Core Strain: Reducing]
[Root-Oath Backlash: Neutralizing]
[Incubus Recovery Conversion: Active]
[Physical Damage: Repairing]
[Stamina Restoration: Rapid]
[Lust Sovereign Power Has Identified Corrupted Contract Burn]
[Purification Through Pleasure Channel: Successful]
The pain in his abdomen vanished first.
The sharp, ugly line where the root had pierced him closed beneath a glow of crimson-gold energy. Bruises dissolved. Torn muscle knit. The lingering ache in his ribs disappeared. His breathing, which had been ragged and shallow, suddenly deepened like his body remembered it was supposed to be powerful.
Then his core healed.
That was the part that made Lux’s eyes fly open.
The burning legal agony in his soul collapsed inward, compressed by Lust Sovereign power, then melted into something warm, clean, and heavy. Like his core had been dragged through a forge, purified, and shoved back into place with extremely inappropriate bedside care.
[Core Stabilization Complete]
[Energy Reserves: Full]
[Stamina: Full]
[Damage: zero]
[Status: Perfectly Healed]
[Warning: Recovery Speed Exceeds Standard Incubus Parameters]
[Possible Cause: Sovereign-Class Lust Authority / Sloth Stabilization / Gluttony Recovery Potion Residue / Extreme Compatibility]
Lux froze.
Then slowly looked down at himself.
The wound was gone.
His core no longer screamed.
His limbs no longer trembled.
His stamina was full.
Lux carefully pulled away from Lullaby and sat back, breathing hard.
For one long second, he simply stared at the air.
Then he huffed.
"That felt like I got reborn."
Lullaby smiled up at him, lazy and proud, cheeks still flushed. "Mm. Healing."
Lux turned his head slowly toward her. "That was not normal incubus healing."
His whole body felt absurdly good. Too good.
Except he smelled sweet. Very sweet.
He lifted his arm and sniffed. His face changed. "Why do I smell like blueberry cake?"
A voice answered from the corner. "See? I told you."
Lux’s head snapped toward the chair near the balcony.
Sira sat there with one leg crossed over the other, arms folded, face calm, eyes bright with far too much amusement.
She was alone.
Lux stared at her. "You watched me the whole time."
Sira smiled. "Yes."
Lux had no immediate answer.
Sira leaned back in the chair, smile sharpening. "We knew your wound was not that bad."
Lux narrowed his eyes. "The hole in my abdomen disagreed."
"Mortal wound. Annoying, dramatic, ugly. But not the real problem." Her gaze dropped briefly to his chest, where the fading contract marks had disappeared. "The problem was you pushed yourself to rewrite that clause."
Lux’s expression cooled.
So they knew.
Sira continued, less teasing now. "Ely healed the surface. Gula’s potion handled the flesh and corruption. Lullaby stabilized your body. But your core still kept rejecting the strain."
Lux looked down at his hand and flexed his fingers. No tremor. "And you think s*x could fix it?"
Sira’s smile returned. "You are also an incubus. So yes. That’s the logic."
Lullaby sat up slowly and hugged him from behind, resting her cheek against his back. "Lux works too hard."
Lux glanced over his shoulder. "You bonked me unconscious."
"You needed sleep."
"You had another plan."
Lullaby smiled sleepily against his skin. "Good plan."
Lux stared at both of them. Then sniffed his own shoulder again. "Back to the important matter. Blueberry cake."
Sira’s mouth twitched. "That was Gula."
Lux cringed in horror. "Did she smear blueberry cake on me as an excuse for healing?"
Lullaby shook her head. "No. She used her family potion to heal you faster."
Lux looked deeply concerned. "Was food involved?"
Lullaby considered it. "It smelled like food."
Sira stood and walked toward the bed, stopping beside him. Her expression softened. "Gula said mortal wounds were fine. But she could taste what happened inside your core. She knew you swallowed something rotten."
Lux’s gaze lowered.
Sira continued quietly, "So she used a Gluttony recovery potion. It eats leftover corruption, feeds damaged energy pathways, and gives your body something to burn while your core repairs."
Lux blinked. "She wasted something that valuable on me?"
Sira’s eyes narrowed. "Say wasted again."
Lux immediately looked away. "Noted."
Lullaby slowly crawled closer to him.
Like a spoiled cat who had decided the warmest place in the room belonged to her by divine Sloth law.
She snuggled against his side, tucked her cheek near his ribs, and wrapped one arm over his waist with the kind of possessive laziness that made escape impossible not because it was strong, but because moving her felt morally wrong.
"Don’t say it like that," she murmured.
Lux glanced down at her. "Like what?"
"Like using something valuable on you is a waste."
His expression changed.
Only slightly.
But Sira saw it.
Lullaby lifted her sleepy eyes toward him. "You are valuable, Lux."
Lux stared at her.
Lullaby’s fingers rested lightly against his abdomen, careful of where the wound had been even though it was gone now. Her voice stayed soft, but it carried that strange Sloth honesty that always made Lux feel like someone had quietly opened a door in his chest without asking.
"You said it like your worth is much lower than that."
Lux looked away first. "My bad."
Sira crossed her arms.
Lux sighed. "I don’t see myself like that."
Lullaby blinked.
He leaned his head back against the pillows, eyes on the chandelier above.
"I know my value."
Sira’s eyebrow lifted.
Lux continued before she could attack.
"I know exactly what I’m worth. Politically. Economically. Strategically. In negotiations. In war. In contracts. In bed. In coffee quality judgment." He paused. "Especially that one."
Lullaby shifted. Then she climbed into his lap and completely rested there.
Lux looked down at her. "Comfortable?"
"Yes."
She laid her head against his chest, one hand tracing slow little lines over his skin, up toward his collarbone, then to his neck. Her touch was lazy and feather-light, but somehow it trapped him more effectively than chains.
"But?" she asked.
Lux frowned faintly. "No but."
