Chapter 730: The Owls and the Bizarre Murder

“Mrs. Maxim, you are a rare guest. Welcome, welcome, come in!” The carriage just stopped, barman Barr, an old man in his sixties with wrinkles on his face, greeted him and smiled, "How come you have time to come to Dijon? ”

“We're just passing by, leaving tomorrow morning!” Mrs. Maxim said, walking down from the carriage, "please prepare dinner for us and open four rooms. ”

“There are plenty of rooms, and not many people dare to come to Dijon in this situation.” Old Barr said, sighing.

“What happened?” Mrs. Maxim asked, stopping at the door of the bar, "Why do you look so sad? I remember the last time you came here, your business at this tavern was very prosperous. ”

“Forget it, the situation has been terrible lately, it's all that horrible owl people are making a scene, people are panicking, don't say foreign travelers, local wizards don't go out much either!” Barr said, waving helplessly.

“Owl Man, what is that?!” Ivan asked, looking at the barkeeper with amazement.

“To be honest, I don't know what kind of monster it is, I haven't seen it. According to eyewitnesses, however, it is something almost the size of a human woman, covered with feathers, pointy ears and black claws on her hands. The colour of the feathers is silver gray and the eyes are covered in blood silk, it looks like a terrible owl turned into a person..."

Listen to each other's description, Evan has a monster in his mind.

“This guy is said to have escaped from the Owl Fortress. The castle is very famous and attracts a lot of witches to Dillon every year. At first, everyone thought it was a joke or a stunt used for publicity, not to worry about it.” Barr went on to say, "It wasn't until after that that that all discovered how serious it was. ”

“There was one witch who died, poor Mary, the last member of Dijon's oldest family of pureblood witches, considered the only surviving descendant of the Duke of Berkeland, even Fort Owl was the property of their family. She was found dead in her family's mansion until a few weeks later.” Barr sighed heavily again, continuing, "The arrogants who came to the scene to investigate saw a hell of a picture of Mary's skin being ripped off and left with only a fleshy corpse, like a pile of rotten meat. The window in her room was open, and the floor was full of owl feathers. Witnesses swore to Dandan that the Owl Man had killed her..."

A moment of silence, Ivan, they didn't expect to hear such a bizarre and alarming murder just when they got off the wagon.

“To be honest, Old Mary's relationship is not very good, and if she changes her normal way of dying, this could be a good after-dinner conversation, while discussing how her vast family wealth is distributed.” Barr said, "hey, but now this situation, especially to the owl man that more and more people are seeing behind us, Dillon is totally screwed, the useless Ministry of Magic and those scumbag arrogants can't even count on it, they hide far away in Paris, whether we live or die. ”

“I'll write to the ministry to reflect on this!” Mrs. Maxim said, "I'm sorry, Barr, I can't help you. ”

“I'm glad to hear you and your friends are here!” Barr bowed and raised his head curiously to gauge Ivan, Sirius and Hagrid behind Mrs. Maxim, "Dinner will be ready in twenty minutes, before you and your companion have something to drink, beer or brandy? ”

“Three brandies and a juice, that kid can't drink!” Mrs. Maxim said, pausing, "If it's convenient, just bring me some more malt whiskey and put it in their grass. ”

“Leave it to me, Orim, I'll take care of them.” Hagrid said, leading the god Fumar to the back yard of the bar.

Ivan, Sirius and Lady Maxim followed the owner into the tavern, crossing the narrow, dark corridor, and appearing in front of them in much the same way as a broken cauldron bar, even with a generally similar decoration style.

The living room is shady and very small with centuries of dust accumulating on the floor.

Ivan doesn't understand why wizards run taverns and hotels that seem to stay in the ancient Middle Ages. If he had a choice, he would prefer to go to hotels or hotels run by Muggles, but the other three certainly wouldn't.

As the barkeeper said, none of the guests except them.

The atmosphere was inevitably a little dull when it came to that terrible murder, and everyone took the initiative to avoid talking about it.

At Mrs Maxim's suggestion, Ivan tried the three Dijon regional French specialities - eggs, miscellaneous fish soup and stewed beef - for dinner, which tasted good.

After eating, he left the table and went back to his room. Sirius, Hagrid and Mrs. Maxim looked like they were still having a few drinks.

Ivan was ready to take a quick look at the information Hermione had gathered for him about the giant, and about the Great Vortex of Cariboudis.

He did not know much about it before, and must grasp it quickly.

The tavern is located on the third floor, not very large, with a comfortable looking bed, some bright oak furniture and a small desk, and the fire in the fireplace is pounding.

Ivan nodded and apparently cleaned it up and looked much cleaner than below!

He walked up to the window and looked, outside was the back yard of the bar, and their giant carriage was parked in the middle of the courtyard.

Ivan pulled up the curtains, took out the wand and applied some protective magic, which led him to lie down and look at what Hermione had collected for himself.

It is well known that giants are a powerful human magic creature, usually of enormous body size and unparalleled brutality, generally 30 to 50 feet tall, with powerful magic resistance and the ability to use weapons.

That is why, since ancient times, giants have been regarded as a terrible tool of war.

A giant is capable of fighting more than ten trained wizards who are inbred, cruel and extremely averse to magic.

In ancient times, they were killing machines on the battlefield, and in recent history there have been several appalling massacres of Muggles by giants.
