Chapter 104: Clearly a Cheat
Upon seeing Priam suddenly release a fire similar to hers, Fyovu’s first reaction was pure shock. However, right after that, Priam also activated the wind element; wind runes and flames began to circulate around his body together.
That mixture was necessary because he did not have much of that fire to use, and he needed to absorb it without burning through everything he already had at once. Besides... Priam was not a fool. He needed to disguise the fact that he was using exactly the same bizarre flame as his opponent.
With the two elements together, the power of the dark-red flame became much fainter. Thus, the impression of the demons quickly changed. It was like looking at a lake and believing, at first glance, that it was deep, only to discover the opposite after testing it.
"He learned some demon-fire Magic Art... but with the wind element, it seems to have become something much better than it should be," a demon murmured, while the others nodded.
There were Magic Arts capable of creating demonic flames, and any race could use them. However, obviously, if one was not a demon, the power of those flames would be so weak that it would be much better to simply use ordinary fire.
Of course, the Leader of the Sun of the Underworld Clan and Fyovu herself still had strange expressions, because they could not be fooled so easily. But... what would be the logic of a pure humanoid using those flames?
In the end, both only snorted, accepting that explanation.
Fyovu roared dryly. "Playing with fire in front of me?! To think such a ridiculous fool exists in this world! This Lady’s eyes have truly been opened today... Besides, your demonic flame is very insignificant, and you still dare display your incompetence before me."
As she spoke, Priam took a deep breath and casually extended his palm forward.
He had never used the fire element before, but he felt that fire and wind formed an extraordinary offensive combination.
The wind runes moved, easily mixing with the flames. Then, Priam’s eyes changed, feeling as if he had a bomb about to explode in his hands.
Without hesitation, he launched it forward.
*BUZZ*
A gust of wind and fire, shining with a pulsing crimson tone, shot through the air, making everything buzz violently.
When it was only sixty centimeters away, Fyovu’s expression suddenly changed.
As someone with a demonic Bloodline specialized in fire, she naturally possessed extremely high resistance to flames. Needless to say, that humble demonic flame should not even have been capable of hurting her.
However, when the strike approached, she felt such an intense burning sensation that it made her heart pound.
When she realized this, it was already too late to avoid it.
Fyovu immediately concentrated her Ether in her right arm, igniting her demonic flame in her palm before throwing a crushing punch.
*BOOOM!*
A violent explosion reverberated throughout the hall.
When the flames finally went out, an area of roughly one and a half meters in the center of the hall had sunk slightly due to the burns.
Everyone saw Fyovu standing in exactly the same place. But...
...an expression of pain quickly crossed her face.
"This... is impossible..."
Someone murmured, and then everyone realized that three of the five fingers on Fyovu’s hand were burned and glowing red-hot.
Everyone was dumbfounded, staring at her slightly burned fingers and the partially sunken floor.
"What... what happened? That humble demonic flame... how can it possess such immense power?!"
The entire hall fell into complete uproar.
As for Priam, he kept a satisfied smile on his face. ’The fire element is pretty simple for beginners to use. It just needs a little fuel, and it explodes; even I can use it in that crude way.’
Priam felt lucky, because fire was possibly the best possible combination with wind, which he was best at. Besides being easy to use without much practice, the two together possessed terrifying explosive power.
That way, he did not need to consume all his Ether using Sky-Rending Wind, nor spend his single Power Rune.
As for the terrifying potential of his strike, it was mainly because he had total dominion over that fire. When Priam dominated an energy through the System and used it, it was as if he were a master who had studied it for millennia, but now had amnesia and was remembering how to use it again. Even though he did not know much, it was very easy for him to use.
He turned to his opponent and mocked, "What did you say again? Your own words don’t even count as a joke. Your ability to indirectly scold yourself is truly high-level!"
Fyovu felt as if she had been slapped in the face.
She looked at her own hand with a gloomy expression. "You think you have the right to mock me? I was caught by surprise, that’s all!"
Since she was a Physical Mage, she had extremely high physical resistance. If not for that, she certainly would have already been defeated. She knew that internally, but she could not accept it.
She quickly advanced one step, waving both hands. Instantly, dark-red demonic flames ignited around her, dyeing the entire environment with their colors.
A black short sword, about sixty centimeters long, appeared in her hands.
The moment the sword appeared, the flames fluctuated vigorously before rapidly intensifying, until the dark red became similar to the color of freshly dried blood.
On the short sword, there were also rows upon rows of uniform, glowing red markings.
Priam’s expression became serious because the terrifying aura emanating from Fyovu had... increased at least twice compared to the previous moment!
"That sword is... the legendary Obsidian Corruption Sword?"
"That shape, that aura, they’re exactly the same as the rumors. It must be it!"
"Her aura has become much stronger... heavens, the young ones of the Sun of the Underworld Clan are even scarier than the rumors say! It seems this time really is the end of Priam."
The young ones murmured in a daze. This had opened their eyes countless times. Even the members of the Iron Fang Clan were stunned; they had not imagined that the difference between them and first place would be so absurd.
As for that sword, it was one of the most famous treasures of the Sun of the Underworld Clan, normally wielded only by the leader himself.
Everyone understood that, because of Fyovu’s talent, the leader had handed her the weapon in the hope that she would ascend more quickly in the Divine Plane. It was a bet on the future.
"The mere fact that Priam managed to force Lady Fyovu to use the Obsidian Corruption Sword already allows him to lose with pride... I only fear Lady Fyovu might cripple him in her fury," murmured the leader of a smaller clan.
Everyone around swallowed hard. As for Orlaith, she was pale because she had already heard a lot about that demonic sword.
"This is a sword left behind by the founders of my clan, who received pointers from the Ancestral creator of the race. It possesses an enormous amount of demonic power and will considerably increase the intensity of my flames," Fyovu’s voice resounded, full of arrogance.
"Hehe... I’ll say this only once. Kneel down and beg for forgiveness, then give up. Because when I attack, I don’t have much control. I’ll obviously kill you. If you’re not sure you can win, don’t act like a tough guy. Your life is the most important thing!"
Priam snorted in silence.
She was telling a half-truth, because she really could not control that sword very well yet. However, she had already wanted to kill him before, and now she was saying that because she instinctively felt a deep fear toward him.
It was better to try to make him give up; and, if she really killed him as she wanted, she could use the excuse that she had warned him beforehand.
The dark-red flames burned intensely around her, and the strong demonic aura seemed to create macabre illusions in the environment. Everyone felt as if they could hear the screams of ghosts; it was as if countless souls were being tortured at that instant.
The strength of the flames’ aura together with that sword was enough to frighten any ordinary person. But it was only an illusion affecting the mind, not something real.
Priam did not answer. He only observed the weapon and the flames with admiration. The world was truly vast; even in the Mortal Plane, the weaker races possessed extremely bizarre abilities.
Fyovu bathed in the flames, her hair whipping violently. Wrapped in fire, she looked like an evil goddess, a demon emerging from the depths of hell. She observed the flames in her hands, felt her own aura, and showed an expression of satisfaction. At that instant, she felt that now she could control everything with ease... even Priam’s fate.
"You’re not going to give up, huh? Great. Then I won’t even give you time to regret it!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the sword cut through the air swiftly... clearly, she wanted to eliminate any chance of Priam surrendering.
A wave of dark-red fire advanced toward Priam together with the sword strike.
However, he did not retreat.
The power of destruction and corrosion was released frantically in front of Priam.
In the next instant, Priam’s figure was thrown far away amid the explosion.
Fyovu narrowed her eyes. She had initially hit the target, but she felt that he had absorbed only part of the impact. Then, Priam disappeared at the last moment with his movement ability.
She turned her gaze, seeing his figure appear on the other side.
Priam sighed softly. He wanted to test this power, but discovered that it was almost impossible to fight it head-on, so he fled.
She laughed teasingly. "You’re not bad at escaping, but let this Lady see how you’ll run this time!"
She waved her hand, and the marks on the sword became even brighter. Near Priam, the dark-red flames burning freely distorted intensely before transforming into a flaming giant.
It was almost five meters tall, with two arms and legs like a humanoid, made entirely of flames.
In that second, Priam’s heart sped up. That thing was terribly powerful!
"That technique... the power that created this monster doesn’t come directly from Fyovu! It comes from the sword!" exclaimed the leader of a smaller clan indignantly.
All the leaders realized that a peculiar energy was being used in that attack. It was something that clearly could not belong to Fyovu. Therefore, it came from the sword itself, from a much more powerful demon. That was clearly a cheat!
"Hahaha... indeed, the power of the ancestors is inside the weapon, assisting her. This weapon is a powerful inheritance of my clan, and now it is part of her power. In the world, there is no justice, only strength. So, her winning with this is absolutely correct," a demon laughed loudly.
Flaris, Shione, and Lumiere were frozen in panic.
"Now that this frighteningly powerful Flame Golem has manifested, Priam won’t even be able to fight!"
