Su Zhaozhao had no idea that this was exactly what Xie Huaizheng was planning.

Xie Huaizheng followed Su Zhaozhao upstairs. As he opened the door, his eyes were immediately drawn to the flowers on the windowsill.

The flowers had already withered, and Su Zhaozhao had turned them into dried flowers and placed them in a vase.

They still looked quite beautiful.

Even when dried, the flowers’ colors remained beautiful.

Although this room was Su Zhaozhao’s temporary residence, she had decorated it to feel incredibly warm and inviting.

Su Zhaozhao poured Xie Huaizheng a glass of water. "Have a drink before you go to sleep?"

Xie Huaizheng took the glass and downed it in one gulp. It was that same clear, sweet water. As it settled in his stomach, he felt a deep sense of relaxation wash over him, from body to soul.

"Zhaozhao, why is your water so delicious?" Xie Huaizheng asked, holding the cup.

Even the water at the military base didn’t taste this good.

’Well, of course,’ she thought. ’It’s spiritual spring water, after all.’

’She drank spiritual spring water every day; by now, she found it hard to drink regular water.’

"Um... maybe because you like me, the water I pour tastes better to you," Su Zhaozhao said, not knowing how to explain and just spouting some nonsense.

Xie Huaizheng stared at Su Zhaozhao, then his lips curled into a smile.

He stretched out a long arm and pulled Su Zhaozhao to him.

He pulled her down onto the bed and pressed a kiss to her lips.

The bed wasn’t big, and it was one of those steel-frame beds. When Su Zhaozhao slept on it alone, it was fine.

But now, with a powerfully built man like Xie Huaizheng added to the mix, the bed immediately let out a series of CREAKS.

With his long arms and legs, the man held her in his embrace, and Su Zhaozhao felt like a tiny figurine.

Her senses were filled with the cool, clean scent from Xie Huaizheng’s body. She had to admit, it was rather pleasant.

It was just that being held so tightly made Su Zhaozhao a little uncomfortable, and she felt the urge to push him away.

"It’s a little hot," Su Zhaozhao said.

"Don’t move, Zhaozhao. I’m just going to sleep for a bit."

Xie Huaizheng breathed in her jasmine fragrance and felt her soft body in his arms.

Then he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Listening to Xie Huaizheng’s steady breathing, Su Zhaozhao didn’t dare to move.

’He must be exhausted. His daily training is tiring enough, but he also stayed up all night looking for me.’

Su Zhaozhao sighed. ’This is all my fault. I was too careless and underestimated them, and that’s how I got caught.’

’But things are better now. Su Dashan and Zhang Fengxia have both been arrested and won’t be getting out anytime soon, so I don’t have to worry about them suddenly showing up to cause trouble.’

’So, what’s next is marrying Xie Huaizheng, I suppose?’

She leaned against the man, feeling the steady beat of his heart, and closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep as well.

’That’s strange. I wasn’t even sleepy.’

She didn’t know how much time had passed, but eventually, Xie Huaizheng was calling her awake.

Su Zhaozhao was still half-asleep when she felt a kiss on her forehead. The man’s deep voice rumbled, "Get up. It’s time to eat."

"What time is it?" Su Zhaozhao rubbed her eyes.

"5:30 PM," Xie Huaizheng said.

His gaze rested on Su Zhaozhao. He truly loved watching her sleep; she looked so tranquil and gentle, like a well-behaved child.

He had woken up a little while ago and had spent the time just staring at her sleeping face, unable to tear his eyes away.

It was only when it was almost time for dinner that Xie Huaizheng reluctantly woke Su Zhaozhao.

Su Zhaozhao sat up in bed. "So, what are we going to eat?"

"What do you want to eat?"

"Let’s just go to the base cafeteria. After we eat, you can head back to your dorm and get some rest."

"Okay."

The two of them went to the base cafeteria for dinner.

As usual, Xie Huaizheng encouraged Su Zhaozhao to eat more. "Stop trying to lose weight. After everything you went through yesterday, you need to build your strength back up."

Today, the cafeteria chef had made braised pork ribs, and Su Zhaozhao ate with a hearty appetite.

"You should eat more too," Su Zhaozhao said. "You were up all night looking for me. It must have been exhausting."

’I don’t know how he managed to find me,’ she thought, ’but he must have put in a tremendous amount of effort to do it, right?’

Xie Huaizheng hummed in agreement and said to Su Zhaozhao, "Don’t worry about me."

Just as the two of them were leaving the cafeteria after finishing their meal, they ran into Zhou Xiaoyun.

Seeing Su Zhaozhao and Xie Huaizheng standing so close together, Zhou Xiaoyun’s eyes crinkled into crescents as she beamed.

"You two seem to be getting along so well! When’s the wedding?"

She was the first person in the military compound to find out Xie Huaizheng was dating someone, right when this young lady first arrived.

After getting to know her these past few days, Zhou Xiaoyun had grown fond of Su Zhaozhao.

When she looked at Su Zhaozhao, it was as if she were looking at her own daughter.

The girl was beautiful, had a great personality, was a smooth talker, and knew how to handle herself—who wouldn’t like her?

"Soon. The report has already been submitted," Xie Huaizheng told Zhou Xiaoyun.

"That’s wonderful. Just remember to save some wedding candy for me," Zhou Xiaoyun said, smiling at Xie Huaizheng and Su Zhaozhao.

"We will," Su Zhaozhao replied with a sweet smile for Zhou Xiaoyun.

’For some reason, she felt like the look in Zhou Xiaoyun’s eyes was that of a shipper.’

For instance, right now Xie Huaizheng was holding her hand, and the smile on Zhou Xiaoyun’s face stretched even wider, the very picture of a satisfied shipper.

Su Zhaozhao, one half of the couple in question, couldn’t help but wonder, ’Are we really that cute together?’

Xie Huaizheng walked Su Zhaozhao to the entrance of the guesthouse.

"I’m heading back. You get some good rest, too. Try not to go out unless you have to, and if you do, let me know first."

The man lowered his gaze to her, his expression serious as he cautioned her.

’He wished he could keep Su Zhaozhao by his side all day long.’

’Unfortunately, he had too many things to do, and the strict military discipline would never allow it.’

’All he could do was instruct Su Zhaozhao to be careful.’

Su Zhaozhao reached out and hugged Xie Huaizheng. "Don’t worry, I’ll lock the door. I definitely won’t go out."

Xie Huaizheng also wrapped his arms around Su Zhaozhao’s slender waist, holding her for a good while before letting her go. "Go on."

He stood in place, watching Su Zhaozhao step into the guesthouse. Only then did he pull his gaze away and turn to leave.

’Actually, he was still a little worried. Would Xu Jiaming come and bother Su Zhaozhao?’

’He seems to have too much time on his hands. Who’s to say he wouldn’t just hop on a train and come looking for Zhaozhao?’

’Tsk... So troublesome.’

’I hope my mom gets here soon. I need to register our marriage with Zhaozhao as soon as possible, before more problems crop up.’

As Su Zhaozhao entered the guesthouse, Yu Huijun called out to her. "Um... Miss, that hair accessory you helped me buy last time, where did you get it? It’s so gorgeous! My friends are all incredibly envious, but they can’t find a similar style anywhere in the city."

Yu Huijun recalled wearing the hair accessory to meet up with her friends; their eyes had lit up the moment they saw it.

They said they’d never seen craftsmanship so delicate and beautiful.

Even the hair accessory that one friend’s aunt brought back from Beijing wasn’t as pretty as hers.

Su Zhaozhao said to her, "Oh, are there no more? I might have bought them all."

"Huh?"

"Well, they were on sale then, right? I thought they were cheap, so I bought several styles, and a lot of other people were buying them too, so they’re probably out of stock now."
