Chapter 243 Plenty of other men
Hearing this, Darla was instantly snapped back to reality.
She snorted lightly and asked pointedly, “Stephan, didn’t you say you didn’t want to
watch a movie? So why are we suddenly at the cinema?”
Stephan remained expressionless. “Sorry, you misunderstood me. When I said I didn’t
want to watch a movie, I meant I didn’t want to watch a movie with you.”
Darla felt a sudden stab of pain in her chest. It felt humiliating, as if she had placed her true feelings in the palm of his hand, only to have him cruelly toss them aside.
She retorted, somewhat annoyed, “If you don’t want to watch a movie with me, there are plenty of other men who’d love to take me.”
Stephan curled the corners of his lips. “Is that so? It seems you already have a new lover. Thank goddess. Congratulations.”
Darla’s face went stiff.
Was he genuinely congratulating her, or was he just being sarcastic out of jealousy?
She clenched her teeth. “Stephan, actually, I’d much rather watch a movie with you. If you don’t want me to go with another man, I can turn him down.”
Stephan’s tone was cold. “No need. You can go see a movie with whichever man you like...it’s none of my business.”
Darla could no longer keep a straight face. “Stephan, are you really going to be
this heartless toward me?”
She had already gone out of her way to accommodate him, was he really going to
remain so indifferent to her forever?
Stephan’s thin lips curled into a faint, mocking smile. “Darla, don’t give me that look as if I’ve wronged you.”
“My girlfriend is right here. She’s sensitive and gets jealous easily. Don’t say anything that could be misinterpreted, or I’ll be sleeping on the floor tonight.”
She had been about to step forward to stake her claim, but suddenly her image was completely ruined!
“Your girlfriend?”
Darla froze, only then realizing something.
“Who is your girlfriend?”
Before Stephan could say a word, a slender, graceful figure in a blue strapless dress suddenly stepped between him and Darla, possessively hooking her arm around his.
“Miss Gordon, let me formally introduce you. This is the person I was just about to introduce to you, my boyfriend, Stephan.”
Alana wrapped her arm around Stephan’s, stood in front of Darla, and introduced him with confidence.
On the surface, she appeared calm, but inside, she felt inexplicably nervous.
Stephan raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised. He hadn’t expected this little white rabbit to take the initiative to stake her claim in front of Darla.
Not bad...she’s making progress.
The man felt pleased inside, but he didn’t say a word.
Darla took a shocked step back, staring at the handsome man and beautiful woman standing side by side, her eyes brimming
with disbelief. How could this be?
How could Stephan’s girlfriend be her?
And how could it possibly be her?
Darla suddenly remembered the last time Alana had spoken to her boyfriend, that familiar voice was gradually overlapping with Stephan’s.
Except that Stephan’s tone toward her was usually cold and indifferent.
But the man speaking to Alana was gentle and doting. That’s why she couldn’t recognize him at first.
But she never imagined it was the same person.
Moreover, on one occasion when she happened to run into Alana, she had also seen Stephan.
She had been surprised by such a coincidence, but it turned out, they were together! Thinking back to the times she’d referred to herself as Stephan’s fiancée in front of Alana, and how Alana had remained silent, had she been treating her like a clown all along?!
Darla laughed bitterly. She really had underestimated Alana, this woman had been silently deceiving her all this time!
Why hadn’t she realized from the start just how calculating this woman was?
Then again, if she weren’t a bit scheming, how could she have managed to hook up with a man like Stephan?!
Darla was seething inside, but her good upbringing allowed her to control herself and keep her anger in check.
She sneered, “Alana, I never would have guessed that Stephan’s girlfriend would be you!”
Alana deliberately feigned ignorance of Darla’s sarcasm and replied calmly, “Miss Gordon, didn’t you say you were here to see a movie with your fiancé?”
“Where’s your fiancé? Aren’t you going to introduce him to me?”
Hearing this, Darla felt a pang of panic and couldn’t help but glance at Stephan. “I...”
The male doctor suddenly hurried over. “Darla, I’ve already picked up the movie tickets. It’s almost showtime...why don’t we go in early...” He walked up to Darla and only then noticed Stephan and Alana. “These two are...”
Alana glanced at the male doctor, as if realizing something. “So you’re Miss Gordon’s fiancé. Nice to meet you.”
Upon hearing this, the male doctor’s face flushed instantly, and he glanced at Darla sheepishly.
He’d thought he was the only one interested in Darla, but it turned out she felt the same way, so much so that she’d already told others they were engaged.
Stephan raised an eyebrow. “Miss Gordon, I never would have guessed you already had a fiancé. Congratulations.”
Darla’s face flushed with anger.
That woman, Alana...she must have done this on purpose!
She had clearly told Alana that Stephan was her fiancé, and that his parents liked
her and treated her like their future daughter-in-law.
And now, right in front of Stephan, Alana was claiming another man was her fiancé.
Wasn’t she just trying to deliberately distance herself from Stephan, and make him dislike her, making him think she was fickle?
Fine, very well!
In their first showdown, she was utterly defeated!
But would she, Darla, ever admit defeat so easily?
Absolutely not!
She forced a smile. “I was just joking earlier. I didn’t expect you, Miss Alana, to take it seriously.”
She glanced at the male doctor. “Let me introduce you. This is my colleague, Miguel Diaz. He’s currently pursuing me.”
After speaking, she deliberately glanced at Stephan, hoping to catch even the slightest sign that he cared.
But she was disappointed; Stephan’s expression remained impassive, showing no reaction whatsoever.
Hearing this, the male doctor gave an awkward smile. “Yes, I’m Darla’s colleague, and I’m currently pursuing her.”
Alana nodded. “I see.”
Stephan lowered his gaze and looked at Alana affectionately. “Sweetheart, the movie is about to start. Let’s go inside first.”
Alana smiled. “Okay.”
She then turned to Darla, “Sorry, my boyfriend and I are going into the theater. Miss Gordon and Mr. Diaz, please excuse us.” With that, she tugged Stephan along.
It seemed as though she didn’t want to have anything to do with them at all.
Watching the two walk away, Darla could no longer control the clenching of her fists.
Jealousy raged within her; she wanted nothing more than to rush over, tear them apart, and shred them to pieces.
The male doctor glanced at Darla’s reaction. “Darla, shouldn’t we also...”
Darla’s face darkened. Filled with rage, she desperately wanted to turn and walk
away immediately.
But the moment she recalled Alana’s smug, triumphant expression from just moments ago, she forced herself to suppress the urge to leave.
She would never admit defeat so easily!
Darla suppressed her anger and set off to catch up with Alana and Stephan. Seeing this, the male doctor had no choice but to follow.
Meanwhile, Alana and Stephan had already made their way inside.
They took their seats in the center, the best spot for watching the movie.
Stephan looked at the girl sitting next to him with a chuckle. “Alana, I’ve suddenly realized you’re actually quite a force to be reckoned with.”
A classic case of "innocent on the outside, cunning on the inside."
On the surface, she looks like a little white rabbit, but in reality, she’s a cunning little fox. Just now, the look on Darla’s face had nearly made her steam with rage.
Alana held her coke and took a big gulp.
Hearing this, she looked quite innocent.
“I didn’t know, I was just telling the truth. Darla said herself that she was out at the movies with her fiancé. I just didn’t expect her to get so angry when I mentioned it.”
