Chapter 213 Our bedroom activities
Soft morning light streamed through the window, bathing the young couple sleeping in each other’s arms on the bed in a peaceful and cozy glow.
Earlier that morning, Alana had woken up briefly. Realizing her ankle was still swollen and she couldn’t walk properly...making it impossible to go to work...she had asked Carla to call in sick for her. After making the request, she was so exhausted she fell back asleep.
After all, she’d been at it with her man for hours, and then had to deal with the hospital.
After taking care of that, she fell asleep again. She was fast asleep when her phone suddenly rang.
She wasn’t woken by it, but Stephan woke up first.
Seeing that Alana was still fast asleep, he reached for her phone first and, without
even looking at it, hung up the call for her.
He thought that would be the end of it, but to his surprise, the phone rang again.
The person in bed furrowed her delicate brows slightly, showing signs of being about to wake up.
Stephan quickly silenced the phone, then took a closer look at the caller ID.
The contact was listed as Cole.
Cole?
Stephan’s eyes darkened as he glanced at the girl, who had drifted back into a peaceful sleep.
He didn’t wake her, but instead chose to pull back the covers and tiptoe out of bed.
Stephan stepped out of the hospital room and looked at the phone number that kept
ringing persistently. He tugged at his thin lips and decisively pressed the answer button.
Cole’s voice came through, gentle yet tinged with urgency.
“Hello, Lana, you finally answered! You didn’t come to work today. Carla said you injured your foot and are currently being treated at the hospital. Is it serious? I’m really worried about you right now. Send me the hospital’s location, I’ll come see
you.”
After Cole finished speaking, he didn’t hear her reply.
He furrowed his brow. “Lana, why aren’t you saying anything? Tell me, is it serious or not? I’m really worried about you!”
Stephan’s thin lips twitched, and he let out a casual, mocking smile. “Sorry, Mr. Come, but my darling Lana is sleeping right now. It’s not convenient for her to see you.”
Cole’s pupils contracted sharply upon hearing the man’s voice on the other end of the line.
Even through the phone, he could sense the intense provocation in the man’s tone and his overwhelming possessiveness toward Alana.
He sprang to his feet, his voice turning grave. “Who... exactly are you?”
Stephan lips curled into a casual smirk as he enunciated each word clearly, “I am Alana’s boyfriend.”
Cole’s eyes darkened instantly. “Tell me which hospital Alana is in. I need to see her!”
Stephan offered a forced smile. “See her? I wonder, Mr. Cole, in what capacity do you intend to see her?”
Come replied, “Alana is my assistant. She’s injured, and it’s my responsibility to visit her and make sure she’s okay!”
Stephan slipped his hand into his pocket and replied slowly, “Well, let me tell you this: Alana is fine. She doesn’t need you to meddle in her affairs. Besides, having me as her boyfriend is more than enough. Rest assured, as long as I’m here, she would be well taken care of.”
Cole’s clenched his fists uncontrollably, forcing back his anger. “She was perfectly fine when she left work! How did she get hurt? Did you hurt her...?”
Stephan sneered. The fuck?!
“If you’re sick, go get treated! Besides, how she got hurt is none of your business. Know your place and keep your distance from my girlfriend!”
Cole clenched his jaw. “Who the hell are you?”
“I told you, I’m Alana’s man!
“I’m asking for your name!”
“Alana’s boyfriend.” Stephan repeated. “Refer to me as that.”
Cole laughed bitterly. “I don’t care who you are. You’re not good enough for Lana. Stay away from her!”
Instead of getting angry, Stephan smiled. “Well, I’m sorry, but I actually think she and I are a perfect match...the best match in the world. As for you...what right do you have to tell me to stay away from my girlfriend?”
Cole narrowed his eyes. “Do you know what my relationship with Lana is? We’ve known each other since middle school. The one she truly loves is me!”
Stephan’s eyes darkened as he clenched his fingers around his phone, tightening his grip inch by inch.
His thin lips twisted into a cold smile. “Is that so? And what of it? What matters is who she’s with now. Me. And she’s lying in my arms right now, exactly where she belongs.”
“You!”
Without giving Cole a chance to reply, Stephan decisively hung up the phone. Cole gritted his teeth in fury; that man’s provocative words had finally shattered his composure.
He dialed the number again. “Find out for me...a patient named Alana Martin with a foot injury. I need to know which hospital she’s in?”
Stephan hung up the phone, thinking about Cole’s words: that he and Alana had known each other since middle school, and that Alana... truly loved him?
He sneered. Was he some kind of fool?
Did Cole really think he would believe everything he said?
Stephan clenched his phone and turned to walk into the hospital room.
The person in the bed had already woken up, and was still groggy.
She sat up in bed, rubbing her swollen eyes. A few soft, unruly strands of hair stuck up from her head, making her look adorably cute.
“Where did you go?”
Stephan walked over to her side, reaching out to smooth down the stray strands of hair on her head. “I answered a call for you.”
Alana’s almond-shaped eyes looked dazed. “Huh? Who’s calling me this early in the morning?”
Stephan handed her the phone. “See for yourself.”
Alana took the phone and checked the call log.
When she saw that it was Cole calling, her heart skipped a beat.
The fleeting look of panic that flashed across her face didn’t escape Stephan’s notice; his eyes darkened instantly.
Alana bit her lip and asked Stephan nervously, “Why... why was he calling?”
Stephan’s stared at her fair, delicate face, his smile forced. “He said he was worried
about you and asked which hospital you’re at. He wanted me to tell him so he can come see you.” Seeing the man’s half-smile, Alana felt an inexplicable sense of unease.
She hadn’t done anything wrong, so why did she feel so... uneasy?
“So, did you tell him?”
The man countered, “Did you want me to?”
Alana replied nervously, “Of...of course not. After all, I’m fine. There’s no need for him to
go out of his way to come see me...”
At that moment, her phone started to ring.
Eve was calling, Alana was grateful at the timing and quickly picked up.
“Hello, Lana, I was going to call you last night that you took my costume instead of your lingerie but on second thoughts, I decided to let you have it to spice things up with your boyfriend, tell me, did he like it? I’m sure last night was fire...”
“Huh? This...” Alana couldn’t help but glance at the man beside her, her cheeks flushing slightly.
Well... how should she put this?
Stephan watched her calmly, as if hinting that she should speak clearly.
Alana stammered, “Well... he really outdid himself.”
They’d practically collapsed the bed, that was certainly going above and beyond.
Eve was all ears. “An exceptional performance, huh? Be specific...how many times exactly? Did you get severely dehydrated?!”
Alana swallowed.
Huh?
Wait, was this something you just casually chat about?
If she were just with her best friend, she might be able to chat about it, but right now Stephan was right next to her!
Overwhelmed with embarrassment, she whispered, “Eve, stop talking!”
This was so annoying....the phone’s volume was way too loud. Even without speakerphone, people two meters away could hear every word clearly.
Not to mention, Stephan was standing right next to her...
Eve didn’t seem to mind. “What’s there to be shy about? It’s just the two of us, c’mon girl, spill!”
“I really can’t talk right now. My boyfriend is right here. I’ll have to go!”
Before Eve could respond, Alana frantically hung up the phone.
When she looked up, she met Stephan’s dark eyes, which were brimming with amusement.
A faint, mocking smile played at the corners of his mouth. “Lana , I really didn’t expect you and your best friend to get so deep into things. You even tell her about our bedroom activities.”
