Shen Tang swallowed her saliva, feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Is this for her?

She hadn’t had the chance to ask, and the man didn’t say much, placing the food on the table beside the bed and turning to leave.

"..."

Shen Tang felt that this man seemed very aloof and not fond of talking, so she didn’t dare to speak up.

Looking at the roasted meat and meat soup on the table, she ultimately couldn’t resist the temptation and finished all the food.

Admittedly, the man’s cooking skills were quite ordinary, but the meat was tender, and she was indeed hungry, so she quickly ate it all.

The evening sky darkened swiftly, but it wasn’t dark inside the room.

A special crystal stone embedded in the cracks of the stone walls emitted a faint light, like a night lamp, making one feel sleepy.

Shen Tang’s body was weak, still in recovery, and after eating and drinking her fill, a long-awaited fatigue and drowsiness swept over her.

However, this was, after all, someone else’s territory; the stone house belonged to the man, and there was only one bed in the room.

She monopolized the bed, so where would he sleep?

Shen Tang felt quite embarrassed, but the man seemed to see her awkwardness and directly turned and left, even shutting the door.

He seemed to plan to rest outside.

Shen Tang’s eyes were a bit confused and bewildered; was the man being too kind to her? Even giving up the bed?

However, she was really sleepy now, her head hazy, unable to resist the waves of sleepiness surging over her, and she unconsciously fell asleep.

This was the layered cliff valley bottom, thick fog obscured the sky, neither stars nor moon could be seen, and moonlight couldn’t fall, as if a veil of darkness had shrouded the world.

The night was tranquil, the air cold, only the dim light from the stone house appeared particularly warm amidst the cold night, like a moth to a flame prompting one to approach.

The man leaned against a tree, bending one knee, his posture lazy and casual.

The gaze beneath the mask always fell on the stone house not far away, like guarding silently.

He watched the warm yellow light emanating from the window, so close, within reach, yet so distant that he dared not approach.

His gaze dimmed for a moment.

After a long time passed.

He jumped down from the tree, walked to the door.

His large hand with distinct joints landed on the door, and just through this door, he could hear the soft, steady breathing inside; his fingertips trembled slightly.

After confirming the person inside was asleep, he hesitated for a moment, eventually gently and quietly pushed open the door, and walked to the bedside.

The female slept deeply, her cloud-like black hair messily spread on the bed, highlighting her delicate and gentle small face, with skin as white as pristine, flawless snow.

Only when she was asleep could he dare reveal his true emotions.

He gazed passionately at the female on the bed, his eyes blazing, with emotions like a storm roaring, almost overwhelming.

He stood silently like a stone before the bed, not knowing how long he stood, suddenly spoke,

"System, I want to see you."

The system, just waking up, was startled by these words, thinking it must have heard wrong.

Although the host and her Beast Husbands all knew of its existence, it always communicated with the host, never exposing itself to others, which also didn’t comply with regulations.

It covered its ears, pretending not to hear!

The man, however, condensed a sharp blade, directly stabbed into his chest, "If the target person dies, your points would be deducted too, right?"

[My goodness, oh my heavens, don’t be impulsive!] The system screeched and immediately appeared, frightened.

The man saw a wisp of blue light emerging from the female’s body, condensing into a semi-transparent little ball, although expressionless, seemed full of terror.

Only then did the man withdraw his hand, his chest still bleeding, but this injury seemed insignificant to him, his tone calm, "So you are the system."

Since it appeared, the system couldn’t hide back, had to admit.

[I didn’t expect it to be you.]

Even though the other’s figure and aura had changed, the system panel wouldn’t make a mistake.

The man knew his identity couldn’t be concealed from the system, which was precisely why he sought the system for negotiation.

[You called me out, what do you want?] The system, when talking to others, reverted to a business-like mechanical tone.

The man looked at the sleeping female on the bed, pressed his lips, his voice hoarse, "I want to ask you, not to tell her my identity."

The system puzzled, [Why? Didn’t you really want to see the host? After finally reuniting, why hide it from her?]

"She..." The man pressed his lips, carrying a trace of self-mockery, "You also know, she probably doesn’t want to see me."

He told the system, "As her system, you surely don’t want to make her sad, right? So help me hide my identity, don’t let her know."

The system conflictedly poked its fingers, although it didn’t have fingers, [But wouldn’t this count as deception? If the host knows we deceived her, she might be even sadder.]

The man said, "If she finds out, she might drive me away."

The system thought this made sense.

The man continued, "Your task is to win me over, so let me stay."

As long as I can stay by her side, not being driven away would do.

The system was silent for a moment, considered, nodded, [Alright! Considering you saved the host, I’ll graciously help you this time!]

[But later, whether or not you can win back the host, depends on you!]
