Chapter 926 - 709: Hatching (Part 3)
If there was anything special about it, it was those amethyst eyes—clear and lively, yet shimmering with a strangely beautiful, mysterious light.
"Yin... Yin Zhou?"
Shen Tang didn’t dare move a muscle, letting the Little Snake gently coil around her wrist, tilting its head as it flicked its tongue at her in curiosity.
She almost wondered if she was seeing things.
Her White Snake... really had turned into a Little Snake this time!
"Hiss hiss~"
The Little White Snake seemed to take her for a tree trunk; its tail wriggled lightly as it wrapped round and round her arm.
Its gaze was blank and pure—clearly just a newborn hatchling with no memories at all.
Shen Tang was both shocked and fascinated, but a faint thread of worry rose in her heart.
What was she supposed to do now?
Was she going to have to raise him from a baby?
That’s way too weird!!!
Just as she was torn, the Little Snake suddenly opened its mouth and bit toward her palm.
Shen Tang hurriedly picked it up and lightly tapped its little head. "No biting!"
The Little Snake tilted its head at her, flicking its bright red tongue, clearly not understanding.
Meeting those round, beautiful purple eyes—though it still had a cub’s appearance, you could already see the shape of what it’d become—Shen Tang’s heart suddenly softened, and a strange "motherly" feeling blossomed!
"Forget it. You’ve turned into this already, what am I even arguing with you for... You must be hungry, huh."
Shen Tang sighed, rubbing her temples in headache. Overthinking wouldn’t help right now; at least the Little Snake had broken out of its shell safely. The priority was to fill its belly.
She took out a bag of dried meat from her Space and handed it over.
She hadn’t expected that for such a small body, it had quite the appetite. The whole bag of dried meat was gone in no time, and it even licked its mouth, still unsatisfied.
The dried meat stored in Shen Tang’s Space had been almost exhausted these past few days; there was barely any left.
Seeing the Little Snake still wasn’t full, she couldn’t afford to rest and went out hunting in the middle of the night.
Her luck was good; she ran into a Tenth Rank Mutant Bird Beast, tracked it straight to its nest, stole a few eggs, and came back to cook a big bowl of egg custard.
Though Mutant Beasts carried pollution in their bodies and weren’t suitable for Beastmen, they were a tremendous tonic for the Ghost Snake.
The bird eggs were huge; the Little White Snake disappeared from sight as soon as it slipped inside.
But it ate quickly, darting around in the egg custard like a loach, cheeks puffing in and out, bits of custard stuck to its head as it ate with relish.
Shen Tang couldn’t help but laugh, her gaze unconsciously softening.
How can it be this cute~
Thinking of the adult Xue Yinzhou, cold, indifferent, like a high mountain flower, then looking at this silly, adorable Little Snake now—the contrast really was too much.
But then, remembering the past she’d seen in the Spiritual Illusion Realm, the younger Xue Yinzhou, Shen Tang felt another pang of tenderness.
He’d lived so miserably as a child.
Helping him in the Illusion Realm back then had ultimately been nothing but a fantasy. She’d once thought, if only she could truly love him properly.
Now that Xue Yinzhou had regressed into a cub, in a sense, it counted as living life over again.
Once the Little Snake finished eating, Shen Tang picked it up and carried it to the river to rinse it off.
Its body had already been damp and slick; covered in egg custard, it looked even more like a little loach.
Fed and watered, the Little Snake calmed down a lot, obediently coiling around her wrist. It just kept flicking its tongue from time to time, as if confirming her scent.
Its body was thin and long, able to wrap around Shen Tang’s wrist three or four times. From a distance, it looked like she was wearing several white Jade Bracelets.
Its little head rested quietly on the back of her hand, mouth squashed a bit flat, those beautiful purple eyes wide open as it stared in confusion at the "giant creature" before it. The thin tip of its tail swayed gently—so cute it could melt a person’s heart.
Shen Tang couldn’t resist lowering her head to plant a kiss on its little head.
She was too used to interacting with Xue Yinzhou and forgot the Snake Clan was born fierce; even newborn hatchlings carried potent venom. They were top-tier hunters, instinctively attacking unfamiliar scents.
Not to mention Xue Yinzhou currently had no memories, just a newly born hatchling. Getting so close like this was very likely to get her bitten.
Yet the Little Snake didn’t attack.
On the contrary, after being kissed, its body went slightly stiff, its tail stopped swaying, like it’d been frozen solid in the snow.
Its tiny head went completely blank, dazed in a stupor, pupils suddenly widening into perfect circles.
So fragrant...
So soft...
It still didn’t understand what this "giant creature" before it was, but its body instinctively liked this touch and this scent.
Seeing the Little White Snake looking so dumb and adorable, Shen Tang’s heart almost turned to mush. She chuckled and tapped its little head with her fingertip. "Still hungry?"
The Little Snake stared straight at her, tilting its head, working hard to understand her words.
"Hiss hiss~"
All full!
Shen Tang couldn’t understand Snake-speak either, but the Little Snake soon got sleepy, coiling on her wrist without moving. It’d probably fallen asleep.
She lightly stroked its slick body. Seeing that dawn had already broken and this place was now exposed, she couldn’t stay any longer, so she took it with her and continued on the road.
Right... where was she supposed to go?
These past few days, Shen Tang had only focused on running for her life, blindly avoiding pursuit. In truth, she didn’t know where she should be heading.
Thinking about it, she really was unlucky. Ever since arriving here, she’d been hunted down every other day. Escaping death had become an everyday routine.
She was practically a person everyone hated on sight!
