Helping with Adventurer Party Management

Episode 115: Until Sarah Became an Adventurer

Sarah was born in a rural area near a forest north of the city.

Near the woods the grace of the earth was abundant, but the taxes were heavy and the living was harsh.

The family lives with five parents, a brother and a sister.

My father was a half farmer and half hunter, making his living hunting with bows for small fields on the woods and animals coming out of the woods.

Hunting in the woods cannot go into the woods because it belonged to a lord with the right to hunt, but it is allowed to protect the fields.

From the woods, sometimes monsters like goblins get lost.

Farmers living near the woods were also allowed by their lords to possess and use long bows, and were then taught to hunt deer, pigs and other animals for field crops.

Sarah, the eldest daughter, was a father and son, who wanted to imitate anything his father did, and his father also adored Sarah like that, and made her a bow for her little one, and Sarah was enthusiastic until the bow strings broke.

Sarah had the qualities to handle bows. The motivation was good natural exploration and that the prey I shot myself would go up to the table; the two elements overlapped, and by the time I was over 10, I had become a better archer than my father when it came to shooting small animals such as birds targeting crops in the field.

A poor but peaceful life was lost when Sarah was fourteen.

One day, the forest overflowed.

The monsters occasionally experience mass outbursts.

Why it happens has not been elucidated in this world.

When the habitat density of the monsters becomes more than constant, will they run wild to expand their habitat, or will another herd powerful in the territory enter and then run wild to escape, or will the magic of the area increase, become more ferocious and rampant? There have been theories for a long time, and we do not know which theory is correct.

Besides, for Sarah, who is only a peasant, it doesn't matter what the cause is.

Importantly, the forest behind the village overflowed and hundreds of goblins stormed Sarah's village.

In remote rural areas, the village chief's house or church is to serve as a simple fortress to escape into in case of an emergency with stone construction.

But Sarah's house was close to a forest full of rampant goblins and she didn't have time to escape into the village church.

Sarah's family caged into the house blocking windows with furniture and doorboards, shooting the goblins through the gap with bows and arrows they were good at.

The goblins in a runaway state had lost wisdom, such as lighting houses, and the family's cage castle took half a day because they ran away in search of more attackable prey without focusing solely on Sarah's house.

It quieted out and when I came out on the surface, the walls of the house had countless nail marks that shook the family up.

There were multiple bodies of goblins shot with arrows scattered around them, and several bodies showed signs of co-eating.

When Sarah counted Goblin's body as she retrieved her own smaller arrow, she found out she was tailoring seven bodies.

The goblins Sarah had tailored, all with arrows in their eyes, and Sarah felt a slight complacency in her own arms, which she had worked out by hunting the little birds.

But it was a short time before Sarah's family was happy to be safe.

The fields, which were in their harvest season, had been completely vandalized by the goblins. The wheat hoe, which should have stretched toward heaven, was trampled and vandalized, and was muddy with a puddle made of recent rain.

Goblins' main unit raided the village church for a few hours before passing, and the villagers had seven dead.

The dead also included the village chief.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

The harvest period has arrived.

Whether there is a goblin raid or the village chief dies, the villagers cannot live without plowing the fields and harvesting them.

And no matter what, taxes are levied.

Sarah's family's fields, in the end, the harvest remained at 60%. After the raid, many ears withered and rotted, although the field crops were diligently maintained.

The levy is deducted from the harvest by a certain percentage. Salvation is not the absolute amount, but for the Sarah family, who obviously won't be able to eat until next harvest season, that's no consolation.

Still, the harvest festival takes place. And the bard comes and sings.

Young man, let's go on an adventure.

Sarah is determined. Leave the house and become an adventurer.

He said he was going to the city to feed his brother and sister.

"... here's my story. It happens all the time, doesn't it?

Sarah always looked like she didn't have any money because she was sending her parents home.

In this world, the common people don't have a trustworthy means of money transfer, so about twice a year, they walk themselves back to the village and leave the money they earn from their adventures.

To be honest, I thought all the money I gave you was gone to dinner.

Perhaps Sarah's sometimes "let's go back to the country and farm" is because living in the countryside is a symbol of her happy life and family.

"It's not like I'm unhappy with my life right now. So busy, so much fun"

With that said, Sarah finished her story alone.
