Helping with Adventurer Party Management

Episode 143: Won't Rural Taxes Increase

When I was running around the shoe business by day and writing a text for Nicolo at my office desk at night relying on beast fat lights, Sarah asked me as I brewed tea.

Kenji, that's what the priest told you to do.

"Right. But it's going to be a job, so get ready."

"I, I wasn't sure it was hard to talk about Kenji and the priest, but does my current job make life better for all the adventurers?

When I nodded, after a little hesitation, I heard.

"Rural people's taxes don't go up or something? I'm worried there 'll be more lords."

Sarah tells me to think about it. That doesn't happen, I can't say. As far as I can calculate, investment versus cost land is to be judged and the cost of doing so is to select a profitable business plan and proceed.

But I can't say that a local lord saves money for that and doesn't try to put it in his nostalgia. If we do that, rural areas will be rough in the long run and profits will be reduced, but those who are blinded only by short-term profits are everywhere.

More than just taking Sarah with you in the future, the reality of it will be in your eyes, even if you don't like it. Sarah's life is in danger this time if, as in the case of Urbano, she erupts when she sees irrationality for the weak in the world. So I decided to be honest.

"That's possible. Some aristocrats would argue that pioneering is part of the labor force and raise taxes substantially."

"Then...!" Sarah says. Make rural life poor in order to improve the lives of adventurers. I don't agree with a cause like that of the eating of the weak, but I guess I'm hesitant to say it's a good one.

"But I don't lend money to a guy like that. I'll set up the system. Lend money to a lord who also makes the life of a peasant better. I don't lend money to a lord who makes it worse. Create that kind of standard."

Sarah was blinking her eyes.

"Can you do that?

"I can. And the only way I can do that is now that I've started the system. While I'm the only one who understands the whole picture, I'm going to make standards. Supporting a faction of priests who might agree with you so that it becomes common sense."

"... hey, I don't know"

In the original world, it's a concept of defacto standards. Simply put, let's set the standard way for that industry.

If Sarah doesn't understand, then Priest Nicolo, whatever it is, may not even be understood by the man he brings in. I'll try to explain it a little more plainly.

"Sarah still runs the adventurer tour."

"Well, I only do half the week"

"Can you explain how you're doing it?

This is something I've done before at the Swordtooth Corps, but by making me verbally explain what I'm doing, I can measure how I understand the overall picture of my work.

"You go to the Adventurer Guild, and if you find a face you don't see, you call me, and then you get a voice from a facial acquaintance, and you hand out a reservation. The number of tours is decreasing these days, so the schedule will be filled in in no time.

Then, meet me at the Adventurer's Guild and get a quick request. And think together about what you need to request, go around the shopping course, negotiate, value, send it out on an adventure, calculate the cost of the adventure together when you come back, pay the cost, and equalize the rewards "

Sarah finished her explanation as she remembered the actual flow, albeit grasping a little explanation along the way.

"How did you decide how to work now?

"Well... that's how Kenji was doing well, so yeah! I mean, if someone did it right the first time, the rest of us would imitate it!

"And then the Adventurer Alliance officials did something similar, didn't they? But I failed."

"Because the way those people did things was inconvenient for adventurers. Yes, that's the bad lord!

I couldn't tell Sarah I was happy to understand, but failure is the destruction of the lives of peasants. There is always more failure than it is a new attempt.

But I'm going to have those bad lords thoroughly ashamed of me. It is planned to use the power of the Church as an example of failure to reach out widely throughout the kingdom.

Bad lords must have their shoulders narrowed in aristocratic society, just as officials who failed to imitate their services became narrower in the guild.

The Church and the aristocracy may get somewhat unfriendly, but Priest Nicolo will successfully turn it into a political force around there as well.
