Helping with Adventurer Party Management

Episode 415: If the number of training grounds

Leave Rodolph alone and pack the details with me and Claudio.

Soon Sarah's here, too, and she's talking to Hisohiso about something with Rodolph.

"But you need a little more evidence. And we need credible witnesses."

"Is it? Isn't it obvious that the agent's fraudulent accumulation is even in this investigation?"

With that said, Rodolph has served many parchments.

Quite a lot.

"Are you taking the village chief's testimony?

"Yes, I have a record."

"What, then, is the testimony of the priest of the church?

"Of course, I have a record"

"Do you have a tax record for the village?

"I don't have the original, but I do have a copy of the record"

So Claudio says confidently.

But if we're going to do something, we need to prepare for the worst case scenario.

"Claudio, if I'm the corrupt deputy, the villagers will either acquire it or decide to end it by being attacked by a monster. That way, the authenticity of the testimony will not be questioned, and in the future, there will be no one to testify."

"No way..."

"Village chiefs and church priests will keep silent with bribes and threats, and I will run into the hostile faction of Priest Nicolo with my money. Don't even destroy your tax records."

"But there's a copy of the record!

"And do you have the signature of the village chief or priest?

"... None"

Claudio lacks imagination about whether it's because of church-grown youths, lack of training ground experience, and how easy it is for a cornered, stately person to harm civilians, and how vulnerable civilians are to violence and bribery.

Since I started doing business, I've only had a lot of experience with those hands, so what do their deputies think and do?

I can understand it so it's in my hands.

There, Sarah pinches my mouth.

"But is it not possible that Priest Nicolo kept his mouth shut to Kenji because he's an asshole?

"How disrespectful!

"'Cause Kenji doesn't want to be a deputy, and he's taking it because he says it's a reward, but that's not a good thing!

I learned the aristocratic way of thinking with a series of experiences, but what Sarah learned was a distrust of the upper classes, apparently.

I know you're worried about me, but when you get that out in public, it's life-threatening, so I decide to forgive you.

"Sarah, I appreciate the shelter, but if that makes the villagers' lives better, why not? Besides, to be honest, if it was Priest Nicolo's plan, you'd be great. There is only such a way as to refuse to take office as deputy. That's not exactly what Priest Nicolo wants."

For once, there must be a proven track record of proposals and actions that have served the interests of the Church. As long as I'm outside the church, I'm not going to be a contender for the birth competition for Priest Nicolo, so I have no motive to betray him.

"That's right. Priest Nicolo values Kenji very highly."

and Claudio takes it.

"So is the leader of the regiment (of ours). If in trouble, come to the Sword Tooth Soldiers. If you're Kenji, you'll be vice president soon."

and Rodolph defends me from another direction.

"Then I'd like to ask a regiment of swordtooth soldiers. Can you arrange for me to see Lieutenant Swiberry?

"That doesn't have to be the captain?

"Oh, I'm guessing it's the edge of Swivelry (Conne)."

To my request, Rodolph did not hide his surprised expression.
