Chapter 223: Nick's Confession

S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, although Lin Rui had informed Nick well in advance of the previous battle with Hydra, was hit hard and completely exposed to the eyes of the world. It took S.H.I.E.L.D. and the World Security Council a lot of effort to keep the situation under control, and now, more than a week later, Nick can finally relax a little.

At this point in time, in the director's office at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Nick was watching a video on the computer screen in front of him that was a little trembling, but clearly displayed. There are two people in the picture, standing at the corner of the wall is Bucky, the winter soldier in a black suit with a mask, while the man standing in front of the winter soldier is the Phantom Knight. Nick was actually watching surveillance footage of the fighting between Lin Rui and Bucky over a week ago, and he didn't know what he found.

Da-da ~

Captain Rogers walked behind Nick as he concentrated on watching the surveillance video. And Nick obviously found out who was behind him, and he didn't say hello, "Come and see what our mysterious phantom knight seems to be hiding from us. ”

“Isn't that normal? You don't have a lot to tell me, either.” Stepping forward from behind Nick, Steve replied softly. Captain Rogers can't get used to the idea of Nick hiding everything in his heart, but he can't help it. Who's Nick as the director, and some things are really the less people know, the better.

Nick had no reason to jump when he heard Steve speak calmly. Nick does have a lot to hide from Rogers, but none of that matters, and Rogers wouldn't say much if he cared. But Nick doesn't know if Captain Rogers knew anything about the winter soldier in the surveillance video.

Nick actually knew about the Winter Warrior that Hydra studied 60 years ago before S.H.I.E.L.D. 's internal data was decrypted. So, besides Lin Rui knowing that the winter soldier on surveillance was Bucky, Nick already figured out who he was. Nick asked Steve to come and watch this surveillance video, and it also meant getting him ready, after all, that Bucky was Steve's best friend. Unnecessary accidental losses may result if Steve finds out only in subsequent battles.

“So I'm going to tell you something today. But first, say yes, don't get too excited when you see the next thing.” Looking closely at Steve, Nick continued.

“Well, what is it?” Steve asked a little surprised to hear Nick. HYDRA has been exposed. What else excites you?

“See for yourself.” As he spoke, Nick had extended his fingers to the screen in front of his fingers and stepped aside.

Captain Rogers looked at the screen along Nick's hand, with images of Lin Rui and Winter Soldier Bucky confronting each other at the corner of the wall more than a week ago. In Steve's sight, the already injured Hydra batter was repelled by the Phantom Knight, but the Phantom Knight stopped attacking and stood still. Steve was wondering what the Phantom Knight was supposed to be saying to that fighter.

From the viewpoint of this monitor, only the rear of Lin Rui can be photographed, but it happens to be facing the front of Bucky. Just as Captain Rogers wondered what the Phantom Knight was saying to this Hydra player, the front of Bucky, who had climbed out of the ground again, appeared in the monitor, and this time there was no mask shielding. So when Steve saw Bucky's incredibly familiar face, he was standing there like he was being stereotyped, his eyes staring dead at the person in the surveillance video, silence bursting rapidly into deep memories.

“Bucky?!” The voice shivered a little, and Steve stared at Bucky in the video and incredibly shouted out that long-overdue name.

Noting Captain Rogers' reaction around him, Nick didn't bother him at this time, or let Steve calm himself down first.

And after seeing Bucky's face, Steve stared more closely at the surveillance video, and he reached out and tapped a few times on the screen to zoom in and zoom in a little bit more clearly.

In the surveillance video, the Phantom Knight seemed to have spoken to Bucky, but Bucky did not answer and instead intended to continue attacking the Phantom Knight. However, he stopped again just as he was preparing to attack. From the video, Steve noticed that the Phantom Knight seemed to be shouting something, and could see his body trembling from behind.

And after what the Phantom Knight shouted, Bucky's emotions seemed to have changed, and he actually held his head in place and said nonsense, and then calmed down. The surveillance video was very clear, and Nick had already had Bucky's mouth analyzed and his shouts displayed on the screen.

“Steve? Who am I?” That's what Bucky said when he calmed down. Steve already had a bad feeling when he saw the brief words on the screen, and he turned his mind upside down.

But when he saw the next scene in the video, he almost screamed. Because the Phantom Knight, who was supposed to be standing in front of Bucky, suddenly jumped at him, and just as Steve thought that the Phantom Knight was going to kill Bucky, there was a sudden and violent explosion outside the wall against Bucky, which blew up all the positions where Bucky was standing, and the smoke and flying gravel covered the area.

“Bucky!!” Steve couldn't help but worry about Bucky, even though he knew it was happening a week ago.

There seemed to be a shadow rushing out in the smoke mask, and then again the light flashed before the surveillance, and then the shadow rushing out was blown back again at a faster speed, and finally the wolf stuck to the wall behind it, the phantom knight who chased it out. Captain Rogers, who saw the scene, was puzzled. He didn't know why the Phantom Knight did it, and he clearly saw that the Phantom Knight didn't want Bucky to die.

At the end of the video, the Phantom Knight safely broke off the wall and walked down to the corner of the collapsed wall to look down before leaving. When the phantom knight's figure disappeared from the surveillance, the entire video ended and returned to the beginning again.

At the end of the video, Steve quickly stretched his hand a few strokes on the screen and finally rated the entire video as the moment Bucky showed his face. Putting the video to the max, Steve made sure that the Hydra's batter was Bucky, the owner of that face and himself from childhood to big, he wouldn't forget.

“Later I sent someone to look for it, but I didn't find it. He should not have died, but fled.” Nick's words passed slowly after Rogers around finally watched the video.

“When did you find out?” Without looking away from the screen, Steve asked in a low tone.

“It's been a while, but I couldn't be sure it was him.” In response to Captain Rogers' questioning, Nick answered honestly.

Boom!

When Nick answered, Steve punched the mount of the monitor in front of him and punched the solid mount straight out of a dent. Steve is obviously very angry that Nick knew about Bucky long ago without telling himself, that's his best friend! Bucky Barnes, a good buddy who fought side by side, died on the battlefield fighting Hydra!

Nick's eyes flashed as he swept through Steve's depression, which seemed to have a slight discrepancy with what he expected, and he underestimated the relationship between Steve and Bucky.

“Where is he now?” Take your fist back, Steve asked.

“We've been searching for Hydra's base around the globe since last week's Great War, and we've been able to wipe out a lot of Hydra's latency, but we haven't found him yet. As a winter warrior who was secretly cultivated by Hydra, he is no longer the man he was before.” Answering Steve first, Nick added later, he didn't want Captain Rogers' personal feelings to influence the plan to exterminate Hydra.

“I know very well!” In a chilling response, Steve has sent this surveillance video to his own terminal.

Whoo!

Next, Steve did not intend to listen to what Nick had to say, and turned around and quickly left the Director's office. And Nick can only sigh silently at the back of Steve's departure, hoping he's not doing it wrong today. But even if he doesn't tell Steve today, he'll know for himself in the future, and it could get worse.
