Chapter 2812 - 1033: Monarchists and Republicans
"Meng Meng, what are you up to?"
Su Ya hugged Poseidon, peering curiously at Li Meng who was lying on a large stone, writing furiously, her tone laced with curiosity: "---Doing makeup work? Need a firefly?"
Though summer had arrived, the sky around six o’clock was already somewhat dim.
Li Meng lifted her head, rubbed her wrist, looked at the gray-white sky overhead, and then lowered her head to look again at the densely written clauses on the parchment, finally shaking her head.
"No need, I’ve pretty much finished it."
She first declined her friend’s kind offer, then added: "Besides, I’m not doing homework! I finished today’s homework long ago... Otherwise, would my cousin let me come out to play with you?"
"Not with me, with her!"
Su Ya raised one of Poseidon’s paws, correcting Li Meng’s mistaken view, then glanced at the parchment on the large stone: "---So, what exactly are you writing? If I knew you were this busy, I’d have wandered around with Furry Bean!"
Upon hearing someone mention their name.
The gray-skinned Gouzi lying lazily in the nearby bushes perked one ear up, and after confirming there was no follow-up, the ear quickly drooped back down.
Of course, it wasn’t neglecting its duty; though it acted somewhat lazy, its head remained facing the direction where the two little witches were, ensuring Poseidon’s figure stayed within its line of sight.
"Monarchy faction’s charter!"
Li Meng’s voice carried a chill in this warm season.
"Mon... Monarchy faction’s charter?"
Su Ya struggled with the unfamiliar term just heard, her tone full of confusion. Li Meng’s words were understandable individually, yet together they made little sense. Similarly, the fluffy little face of Poseidon nestled in her arms scrunched up, clearly unable to comprehend what Sister Meng was saying.
"What is..."
"Our faction led by Master Su Shijun is called ’Monarchy Faction’!" Li Meng waved her small hand, her face serious: "The rules and regulations of our faction are the monarchy faction’s charter!"
Sounds impressive!
Su Ya and Poseidon looked at Li Meng with eyes full of admiration—truly worthy of a top student from First University, even her words were difficult to understand!
"Then what’s the specific content of the charter?" Su Ya craned her neck, attempting to make out the small words on the parchment.
But she had barely caught sight of the first line ’...unite around Master Su Shijun...’ when the parchment was swiftly confiscated by Li Meng.
"You must first join our ’Monarchy Faction’, sign a contract, then you can see this charter." Li Meng patiently explained: "This belongs to internal documents; it must be kept confidential!"
Reasonably stated.
Su Ya nodded slightly, then hesitated as she looked at Li Meng smilingly pull out another contract.
"Do I have to sign too?" Her tone suggested it was an insult.
"Sorry, I know you are steadfastly loyal to your lady... but rules are rules!"
Li Meng shoved the feather pen into Little Fox Maid’s hand and casually quoted a phrase: "As the saying goes, ’No rules, no order’, supporting your lady means supporting the monarchy faction!"
"I? Naturally, I support the lady."
Su Ya squeezed the feather pen, speaking with little confidence while images of her tipping off Jiang Yu flashed in her mind. Ultimately, she returned the feather pen: "---But there’s a rule at the manor that maids must have Sister Su Man review any contract they sign first."
"Is it that troublesome?" Li Meng clearly didn’t intend to disturb the strict head maid, showing disappointment, then her gaze fell on Poseidon.
"Absolutely not!"
This time, Su Ya’s refusal was much quicker: "If I sign, it only requires Sister Man’s consent, but if she signs, the lady has to personally review it... Except for homework books, I can’t remember any other place where the lady had her sign!"
Neither option is viable!
As the saying goes, one tries with their utmost, then discourages, then exhausts themselves.
Li Meng, who had just presented the ’charter’, faced two consecutive failures in invitations, dealing a massive blow to her spirit, prompting her to instinctively look around at the last living thing nearby.
Furry Bean ’poofed’ decisively out of her sight.
Clop clop clop!
A series of rapid, crisp hoofbeats reached the ears of the two little witches.
Soon, Lin Guo appeared next to the large stone, riding a black goat, but didn’t dismount immediately. Instead, he leaned down, looking at Li Meng, his tone slightly urging: "---What was so important you couldn’t write it in a letter? Hurry and speak... I’m recently involved in a major school project, busy with tasks!"
His tone carried some urgency.
Half true, half false.
In truth, he had indeed become Doctor Du Zemu’s assistant, joining a major school project, busier than ever recently; but the project seemed to have reached its conclusion phase, with only some core, higher-level parts left, leaving little work to assign to him.
In other words, he wasn’t as busy as he portrayed.
Based on caution towards Li Meng potentially causing trouble, Lin Guo pre-reserved an escape route. As proven, this retreat was highly necessary.
"I’ve just established a ’Monarchy Faction’, currently recruiting members. Seeing your unique talent, I’ll waive the membership fee; you just need to sign here." Li Meng enthusiastically promoted her new organization, succinctly explaining the basic tenets of the faction.
Lin Guo gripped the feather pen, hesitated for half a second.
"Did you sign?" He cautiously looked at Su Ya, asking more.
"Ahem, I’m not on the same faction as her... I’m ’Anti-Zheng Faction’, care to join?" Su Ya’s fluffy big tail accidentally slipped out of her skirt—this rhetoric was something she had just worked out with Li Meng, both having anticipated the little warlock might ask—still, Su Ya’s ’Anti-Zheng Faction’ was secretly consorting with another witch, but that’s a different story.
"What’s ’Anti-Zheng Faction’?"
"Anything beneficial in taking down Zheng Zha, she does, that’s Anti-Zheng Faction!" Li Meng’s tone carried slight impatience, urged: "Do you think we’d deceive you? Just sign one of them quickly!"
Lin Guo felt his scalp tingle.
He couldn’t afford to mess with Su Ya or Li Meng, let alone the great witch standing behind the two little witches. Though he was still young, he had seen enough incidents of gods clashing while mortals got hurt.
Such situations, with upper echelon matters unresolved, having lower-ranked individuals choose sides prematurely was the dumbest move—of course, he wouldn’t call the two little witches dumb to their faces; doing so would simply reveal his own stupidity.
"Me... I might count as a ’Republic Faction’?" Lin Guo pondered, ultimately giving himself a novel position and a fresh refusal reason: "---Interested in joining my Republic Faction?"
Although he said this, internally he sneered at the term ’Republic.’
There’s no such thing as a republic faction.
It’s merely another name for the ’Sandwich Faction.’
"What’s Republic Faction?" This unexpected answer momentarily stunned the two little witches.
Lin Guo stroked the big horns of the black mountain goat under him, cleared his throat: "Republic, well, means everyone sits together peacefully, no fighting or noise... together maintaining a beautiful, peaceful new future!"
His words were so passionate, he almost believed them himself.
