Chapter 1104 - 804: Animagus (2)
The three heads of houses exchanged a knowing smile, all silently agreeing not to bring up the matter again.
The train continued on its way to Hogwarts, and soon it was noon.
The snack cart creaked to a stop at the compartment door.
"Children, would you like to buy something to eat?"
Professor McGonagall opened the compartment door.
"Oh, Minerva." The old witch pushing the cart looked somewhat surprised, "It seems the rumors are true, you’re taking the train today as well."
"Yes, to protect the students," Professor McGonagall said.
"Wonderful, would you like to buy anything? I guarantee the Licorice Wands taste just like they did sixty years ago."
"That is indeed something I like to eat." Professor McGonagall hadn’t intended to buy anything, but she couldn’t resist after hearing that, and bought a few Licorice Wands.
The snack cart then creaked and stopped in front of the next compartment.
Professor McGonagall closed the door and handed out the Licorice Wands to everyone.
"Thank you, Professor," Kael said, then casually set it aside.
He also noticed that Professor Flitwick and Professor Sprout did the same, clearly not fond of this snack either.
"She wasn’t wrong; they do taste just like they did sixty years ago," Professor McGonagall said with a smile after taking a small bite of the Licorice Wand.
"Sixty years ago?" Kael asked curiously, "Was she on the train back then too?"
"Even earlier," Professor McGonagall explained, "In fact, when I was in school, she had already been working for quite some time, and she hasn’t changed at all since then."
"She must be over a hundred years old," Kael said in surprise, glancing outside the compartment.
"At least a hundred and seventy," Professor McGonagall said, "Because when Dumbledore was in school, she was already the witch selling goods on the train."
"She really takes good care of herself," Kael mumbled.
Not aging in sixty years could be considered well-maintained.
"Kael, there’s still a long way to Hogwarts. Would you like something to eat?" Professor Sprout offered a few pies, "They’re fennel and beef. If you’d like, I can share one with you."
Professor Flitwick also had lunch, an apple pie, and although he only had one, he kindly offered to share half with Kael.
"No, no, I have something too," Kael smiled, declining their kind offers.
Even though he was suddenly pulled onto the train without preparation, he did have a suitcase.
In the professors’ shocked expressions, Kael pulled out an entire ham, so large that the compartment’s small table could barely accommodate it.
"Is that... just something you carry with you?" Professor Flitwick couldn’t help but ask, holding his apple pie.
"Oh, just a little snack," Kael said casually.
That wasn’t all. Following the ham, there were flour and water, originally intended for the Moonstruck Beasts. While they could eat the herbs in the suitcase, occasionally they needed a special meal, and flour was used to roll the food into balls and dry them out... a technique he learned from Newt.
But now, these were quite handy.
Under Kael’s command, the flour and water mixed and stirred, quickly forming into small dough balls and then turning into round flatbreads.
A small flame suddenly appeared in the air, and the flatbreads slowly rotated above it.
"Gubraithian Fire!" Professor McGonagall, well-versed in rare artifacts, quickly recognized the source of the flame.
Her voice rose slightly, "You’re using such a precious magic item to bake flatbreads?"
"Yes, magic is meant to make life more convenient," Kael nodded, saying naturally, "And this thing is quite efficient."
As he said, in just a few minutes, the flatbreads turned a beautiful golden brown.
Then, slices of ham lined up and passed over the fire, jumping into the automatically split open flatbreads.
Since they were cured ham, there wasn’t even a need for seasoning.
"Professor, would you like a taste?" Kael offered a sandwich to Professor McGonagall.
She instinctively accepted and took a bite.
Honestly, it wasn’t particularly delicious, but it was decent. Moreover, because of the Gubraithian Fire, the flatbread had an added layer of special flavor.
Even for her, it was the first time tasting flatbread toasted with Gubraithian Fire. It was quite an unusual and extravagant experience.
At that moment, Professor McGonagall somewhat understood why Dumbledore had chosen Kael to replace him.
In some ways, they were quite similar, always able to do things that defied understanding... or, to put it bluntly, a bit eccentric.
Wizards in the entire Magic Realm with Gubraithian Fire were few and far between, and all of them cherished and preserved it as a treasure. The only one who would use it for baking flatbreads was probably Kael.
Professor McGonagall glanced at Kael, who had already distributed the remaining two sandwiches to Professor Flitwick and Professor Sprout and was once again busying himself.
But this time, he didn’t use Gubraithian Fire, opting instead for an ordinary flame spell. A few flames enveloped the flatbread, evenly radiating heat.
"Why did you change the method?" Professor McGonagall asked curiously.
"Oh, I just remembered, I once used Gubraithian Fire to burn a Dementor," Kael said, "Using it to heat food now feels a bit unsettling."
The compartment instantly fell into silence.
