Chapter 1,046 - Nothing New Under the Sun

Chapter 800.

The helicopter landed at an estate in East Hampton, where Grace stepped off the plane with a pair of children and Simon greeted her.

And facing a shy Grace for a hug, Simon extended his hand in greeting to a pair of teenage girls, "Hi, Ray, and Rita."

Already knowing a few things on the road, though, the siblings were still unavoidably constrained, as well as inevitably awkward, in the face of Simon. Although, bar their father had also brought his new girlfriend, who was considerably younger than him, to meet the siblings some time ago, but, their father's little girlfriend, and their mother's little boyfriend, never felt the same.

What's more, it turned out to be Simon Westeros.

It had been Grace's complete lack of knowledge of how to talk to her own children about the pregnancy, and a bit of selfishness in the hope that there would be mutual recognition between the two children and Simon, that had led to this meeting. Grace's shyness at seeing Simon and a couple of children greeting each other also intensified, and as everyone finished their greetings and headed to the villa together, she subconsciously walked on the other side of Simon, with her own little man between her and the two children.

It's late fall on the East Coast of the United States and the days are getting shorter.

It was not yet six o'clock in the afternoon and the sun was already falling into the eastern horizon, so everyone entered the villa and went straight to the dining room to start the dinner that had already been prepared.

"Your mother said you like Chinese food a lot, and it just so happens that I like it too, so I hired a Chinese chef tonight," taking Grace to sit down on one side of the table, Simon said to the teenage girl sitting across from him, "It's been prepared since yesterday, and it's very hearty, so you can try it later. "

Rita Sprout sat down in the chair pulled out by the waitress and heard Simon say, "Thank you, Simon."

"It's nothing," Simon said, not forgetting the boy, and smiled at Ray, "Can I have a drink, Chinese food actually goes well with alcohol?"

Ray looked down at his mother, Grace was the type of parent who absolutely forbade their children from drinking before the legal age, but this time was low-brow and completely unresponsive, allowing Simon to make his own appearance.

Ray didn't dare take the liberty of agreeing without his mother asking, and shook his head, "No, Simon, um, thanks."

"Drink some, I'm preparing a yellow wine from China, it's low in alcohol, so drinking less of it is still good for you."

Ray saw Simon say that and had to nod, "Well, okay then."

Grace finally reacted to the sight of Simon persuading his son to drink and subconsciously wanted to object, hesitating a little, but still not speaking.

Rita, who was sitting directly opposite, was simply a bit speechless when she saw her mother like this.

Is this still the usual smart and capable mother?

Simon chatted with Ray and turned to Rita again, "If I remember correctly, Rita, you're in the 12th grade, are you sure which college you're going to?"

Rita was too busy withdrawing her thoughts from her mother's side to instinctively fight the urge to respond, "I'm going to apply to Columbia University."

Simon actually knew this, the girl was doing it for some kid in the Levison family, the other had stayed in New York for her the previous two years, and Rita had gone to Columbia with her, but he didn't nod at any of this, nodding slightly and continuing, "What majors are you looking at?"

"International Relations."

Simon remembered that Linsu also studied international relations in college and nodded, "Great choice."

Rita blinked and didn't look at her mother as her brother had just done, she had initially told her parents about it and they could have been against it, but she hadn't expected ...... Simon Westeros across the street to approve of himself.

Then again, he was probably just being polite.

Simon noticed the change in the girl's appearance and smiled, "Don't think I'm just being polite, do you?"

Rita was a little guilty.

Simon's expression was more serious: "You're wrong, I'm really optimistic that you'll study this major, because in the class we're in, the pattern and vision are more important than the specific professional ability, ordinary children study architecture, medicine, computer and so on.

Rita listened carefully to Simon and nodded, "Thank you, Simon, I'll remember that."

"Heh, no need to always be so polite, relax."

Grace who was silently listening to these words of the little man beside her, the tension gradually slowed down, and some tenderness once again surfaced in her heart.

After all, the little man these words, if not close people, certainly would not casually say, and even, this should have been his own children only to pass on the life lessons.

So casually chatting, the outdoor sky darkened unnoticed, the waiter also began to deliver the carefully prepared dinner.

The teenage girl's love of Chinese food was actually a thing of the last two years, and ultimately, it was because of Grace's influence on Simon. However, with the delivery of Chinese food that the siblings had never even heard of, the teenage girl realized that the Chinese food they had tasted in the past was just the tip of the iceberg.

Even though they were reminded from time to time to remain reserved in front of Simon Westeros, they still ate a lot without realizing it.

Simon even shared a jar of Shaoxing yellow wine with his siblings.

It was only after dinner was over and everyone was in one of the sitting rooms in the villa, where the waitresses served the after-dinner palate cleanser tea, that Simon formally spoke to the siblings about Grace's pregnancy.

Although it was thought that this was just a dinner for the mother to confess her lover to them, but after a dinner, and then finally came so, the siblings instead easily accepted down, in the end more practiced than her brother Rita also boldly asked about some arrangements for their unborn brother or sister, and learned that the child will be surnamed Westeros, the girl inwardly both a little faint jealousy, but also inevitably quite satisfied.

It showed that Simon Westeros was serious about his mother and even a certain little one. Although, bar none, he was certainly not going to be his stepfather or anything.

Everyone talked until nine o'clock in the evening, and it was Grace who finally took the initiative and beat Simon out of the villa. The two kids were definitely staying here tonight, and she was too embarrassed to sleep with him even though the relationship had been made clear.

Sending the men away, Grace rejoined the pair of children back in the sitting room she'd just come from, patting her daughter with a hug, who was very naturally snuggled in, and looking at her son, a little hesitantly finally saying, "So, do you have any more questions?"

Rita curiously reached out a small hand to her mother's abdomen, "How long has it been, Mommy?"

Grace pressed her daughter's fidgeting little hand, and couldn't help but blush again, whispering, "It's only been a month, just recently found out, can't touch it."

Rita daintily rubbed her mother's shoulder and said, "I think ...... Simon is great, and good enough for Mom, even, much better than the girlfriend Dad found, and the last time we had dinner together, I feel like, that was a vase."

Grace paused and defended her ex-husband, "Men actually like vases, it's easier to get along."

Rita countered, "Mom's not a vase."

"Of course," Grace said, curling her lip, "because Simon is different too."

Rita couldn't help but laugh, "I see, Mum, but what you're actually saying is that Dad only looks for vases."

"Don't talk about your dad like that, he'll be sad."

"Of course I wouldn't say it to his face," Rita said, remembering something and scanning her mother's expression before she couldn't help but ask, "Mom, did you ...... divorce Dad because of Simon? "

Grace hesitated slightly, but nodded, "Yeah."

Rita saw her mother's slightly apprehensive look and nuzzled into her, "It's actually very easy to meet, Simon's so wonderful, if he wasn't Mum's lover, I couldn't resist grabbing him."

Grace knew it was her daughter's way of actively justifying herself, but her eyes subconsciously widened slightly at her words, remembering the mother and three daughters she'd helped him with in the first place.

Her own little man was definitely not a good man.

Although I think he shouldn't mess with himself, but privately, he quietly decided to try to avoid him seeing his daughter.

Raising a hand to stroke her daughter's hair, Grace thought of her son again and asked Ray, who had been sitting silently beside her, "What's on your mind, baby?"

Ray shook his head subconsciously.

Compared to a daughter, a son's feelings about his mother's search for another man were always a little more complicated. However, it was true that Simon Westeros, as his sister had said, was too high and mighty for Ray to even resist.

The man had also asked him about his future plans, what university he wanted to attend and what he wanted to study.

Ray was only a year younger than his sister and would have to think about going to college next year as well, but until then he really hadn't given it much serious thought, after all the changes in the family over the past two years had been very satisfying for the boy.

Then, something Simon Westeros said, but inadvertently changed Ray's outlook on life.

Compared to his own sister, Ray is considered to be a person who lacks an opinion.

And the man said that in the future, no matter what university he went to or what major he studied, he should have a conqueror's mentality for the world, and not try to make himself fit into the crowd or deliberately change his principles for the sake of some interpersonal relationships, but try to make others change for him, to be the dominant one.

Not only that, they also said that they would give him some support in the future so that he would have the strength to do so.

Seriously, even though his own father had quickly become a senior member of the First Boston core in the last two years, and even though his mother held the number one modeling agency in the world, there were many times when Ray would inevitably feel overwhelmed in front of his own classmates from more prominent families at Dalton High School.

Things were clearly starting to turn in a different direction.

The first decision Ray made was to refuse the request from his best friend that he find some models for his cousin's 18th birthday. The Gerald family was also an old money family in the United States, and the other cousin, his family background would definitely not be too bad. In the past, he might have gone against the rules set by his mother as well as his own insistence, considering the possible separation or even breakdown of friendship with his best friend who had been together for two years as a result.

Now, there was certainly no need to do so.

It shouldn't have to be done.

After all, if he did do these things, even if he didn't receive a penny, he could be reduced to some sort of pimp in the eyes of many, a pimp who was destined to be despised in the eyes of the old money kids who were already bone-headed and had eyes above their heads. Even if in the future some people were to get closer to him in order to get in touch with those models, it would only be for a different reason, and a certain identity of his would be even more seated, and he would not be able to walk into the heart of some high end circles in the future.

On the other hand, Simon was kicked out by Grace, and spent the night in another mansion that housed a mother and daughter named Liu.

The next day after breakfast came again to Grace's side.

Today is already Friday, October 26th.

Sister and brother still have to go to school, after breakfast by helicopter back to Manhattan, Grace continued to stay, Simon arrived, the woman is like a cat nesting in the villa downstairs in a living room sofa watching TV, very lazy look.

Holding the woman's body together nestled in the sofa, Simon also looked to the television.

On the screen was a morning CNN commentary on current events, the content is still closer and closer to the United States election vote.

It was already the end of October, and this month's regular 'October Surprise' was quite hilarious to say the least, and gave Simon a certain sense of déjà vu.

For example, the Republican side has been stirring up attacks on the Clinton campaign's funding sources since the end of September, making a 'pass middlegate', well, there's not much to say about that, but in short things have been fermenting throughout October, and it's hilarious.

Plus, it was still Clinton's personal life.

At the beginning of the month, there was a sudden revelation that Clinton had raped a female government employee while serving as attorney general in Arkansas, along with the constant peachy news of Clinton's first term, which was boiling.

Clinton's side, on the other hand, keeps taking on the health problems of her already 73-year-old campaign rival, Bob Dole, accusing the other side of possibly not being able to handle the presidency.

In short, both sides of the various accusations of each other to expose, the use of excuses and Simon's memory of certain things that happened, see word for word.

History always goes in cycles.

The events of the past month had given Simon another taste of what it meant to have nothing new under the sun.

Grace slumped in Simon's arms and watched TV with him for a while before she finally asked, "Don't you have to go to work today?"

Simon put his arm around the woman's waist, one hand carefully caressing her belly, and said, "You're my job."

Grace, obviously enjoying hearing such sentiments, curled her lips, but didn't lose her ability to think, "I get the feeling you've been tired lately, it's okay to take a day off, well, but I, I can't do anything with you."
