Chapter 1314 - 494: Betraying a Teammate (Part 2)
Even though Qin Miao was cursing under his breath, he still gave up the spot by the door for Leclerc.
Leclerc looked at Qin Miao and asked, "Didn’t sleep well?"
Qin Miao took out his phone to check the time: 7 AM.
"I only returned to Monaco late last night, slept at 2 AM, so I’ve only had 5 hours of sleep."
"Doesn’t matter, as long as you’re back."
Qin Miao: ?
Then Qin Miao saw Leclerc skillfully pull out his phone and make a call; not long after, Qin Miao heard Leclerc say to the other end, "Yes, Qin Miao’s back! He’s at home now... alright, alright."
Qin Miao: ???
Seeing Qin Miao’s bewildered expression, Leclerc hung up the phone, patted Qin Miao on the shoulder and said, "Sorry man, I didn’t want to do this either, but it was Prince Yake’s request. As a Monegasque, I really couldn’t refuse the little prince’s request, so I had to inconvenience you."
Seeing that Qin Miao was still confused, Leclerc explained, "After I got back to Monaco, I met with Prince Yak, during which he specifically asked me when you’d return. He’s eager to see you and also congratulated you on winning your second world championship. Plus, they’ve prepared a gift for you, and there’s a gift for me too."
"So you sold me out for a gift?" Qin Miao asked in shock.
"What do you mean ’just a gift’? This is a gift from Prince Yak, handed to me personally. It’s not just a gift; it’s recognition of my abilities by the prince!" After saying this with such enthusiasm, Leclerc suddenly broke into a grin, "Besides, we’re bros, what’s ’selling out’? I just asked you to come back a little earlier, and it’s not like you lost anything, right?"
Qin Miao now felt an urge to punch Leclerc’s handsome face — so good-looking, yet so unhelpful.
But seeing Qin Miao in his tank top and shorts, Leclerc still reminded him, "By the way, I just called the Monaco royal family, and if nothing goes wrong, Prince Yake should be coming over soon. I suggest you change into something a bit more formal."
Qin Miao’s mouth twitched, then he mischievously said to Leclerc, "Given the chance, we must climb a mountain together one day."
But to Qin Miao’s surprise, Leclerc resolutely answered, "No way!"
"Damn it!"
Despite all the grumbling and slight irritation, Qin Miao could understand why Leclerc was so concerned about Prince Yake.
In fact, among locals, Prince Yake’s status is viewed as the highest.
To many, Prince Yake carries even greater importance than Monaco’s ruler, Albert II.
The reason is simple: Monaco signed a clause with France stating that if the Monégasque royal family were to lose its legal heir, Monaco would be absorbed into France.
The country of Monaco would then cease to exist.
In other words, Prince Yake’s existence helps extend the life of Monaco by at least 60 years.
But anyway, meeting members of the Monégasque royal family meant Qin Miao definitely couldn’t wear what he had on.
So Qin Miao went back to his bedroom to change into something relatively more formal.
Once he’s done changing, Leclerc was already lounging on the couch in Qin Miao’s living room, with the TV and the PS5 beneath it on, flipping through Qin Miao’s PS5 game library.
After searching for a while, Leclerc grumbled to Qin Miao, "Why are there so few games?"
"If you think there are too few games, then don’t play," Qin Miao quipped before turning to prep something for breakfast.
Seeing this, Leclerc put down the game controller and quickly realized that Qin Miao usually preferred playing on PC.
While most Europeans and Americans prefer console gaming.
The reason Qin Miao bought a PS5 was purely because some of his beloved single-player blockbuster games are PS5 exclusives, requiring him to buy a PS5 if he wanted to play them.
As an F1 driver, Leclerc doesn’t have the time to spend on time-consuming AAA games like Qin Miao does. He mostly plays fast-paced games like COD and racing games.
So it’s naturally impossible to find games he wanted to play on Qin Miao’s PS5.
Nonetheless, Leclerc wasn’t particularly bothered. Instead, he watched with curiosity as Qin Miao began cooking in the kitchen.
"What’re you doing?"
"Making breakfast, keep out of the kitchen so you don’t get in the way."
"Make some for me too."
Qin Miao nodded; it wasn’t much of a problem. His mom had left a lot of noodles at home before leaving, so making an extra bowl wasn’t a hassle.
Five minutes later, looking at the bowl in front of him filled to the brim with red chili oil, Leclerc instinctively gulped.
On one hand, he was a little intimidated by the amount of chili in it, and on the other, Qin Miao’s noodles emitted a spicy aroma that made even Leclerc’s mouth water.
Seeing no second bowl of noodles behind Qin Miao, he looked at Qin Miao...
Qin Miao leaned against the dining table with a leisurely air watching Leclerc. He said nothing, but his intentions were clear.
"Eat it. Not eating is like disrespecting me."
Leclerc admitted that Qin Miao’s cooking was undeniably good. Even though he didn’t much like spicy food, the aroma alone told him the noodles would be delicious.
But looking at the vibrant chili and oil, Leclerc worried about certain bodily repercussions.
"Is it too late for an apology? Or could I try a non-spicy version?"
Qin Miao snorted, "Too late, and my home has security cameras. If you don’t eat it, I’ll upload the footage online with a caption claiming Leclerc from the Ferrari team is wasting food and harming the environment."
In Europe, public figures fear not paparazzi nor candid cameras.
What they truly fear is political incorrectness.
And in Europe, protecting the environment is the absolute political correctness, a top-tier imperative.
But seeing Qin Miao’s hungry-for-blood eyes and menacing words, Leclerc knew there was no escaping this one.
So he simply shut his eyes, gritted his teeth, started mixing the noodles, and began to eat.
The first bite sent a spicy sensation straight to Leclerc’s brain, followed by the distinctive chili aroma filling his mouth.
Tasty was indeed tasty, spicy was genuinely spicy, and the aroma truly aromatic.
And it was the kind of spiciness that made one keep eating.
At this point, Leclerc was trapped in a loop of eating and being spicily fueled to eat more.
Soon enough, despite already having had breakfast, Leclerc had finished the entire bowl of noodles, but afterward, he regretted it while drinking water and wiping sweat.
For one, he anticipated that his restroom experience later wouldn’t be pleasant, and for another, he’d already had breakfast and the noodles were exceptionally oily and salty.
His weight...
Oh... it seems I’m on vacation now!
It’s fine then, as long as he only had to worry about certain consequences in the bathroom.
Watching Leclerc finish the noodles he made, Qin Miao was quite satisfied, knowing that Leclerc would feel the fiery aftermath in the bathroom for some days.
Qin Miao had added a lot of chili in Leclerc’s bowl to exact some revenge, but being a cook himself, he trusted his culinary skills.
Once Leclerc finished, Qin Miao returned to the kitchen to make a bowl of noodles for himself too.
But Qin Miao’s noodles were pulled noodles, not the packaged kind, and they weren’t spicy.
After several recent parties, Qin Miao had stayed up late too often, leading to mouth ulcers and an inability to eat spicy food.
But looking at Qin Miao’s bowl, Leclerc’s mouth twitched involuntarily.
