How To Live In A Different World

Episode 17: Bales Tourism Part 1

I gave Mr. Gaffi a set of gear and it would take at least three days to repair and adjust, so I decided to do some Bales sightseeing for now.

On second thought, not long after resting from the escort, the demon crusade and I've been working too much lately.

Money has accumulated there, and I want to know inside the city, so this is a good opportunity.

"Uncle, I'm going to take a little tour of Bales from today. May I ask why?

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I'll answer whatever I know."

Sitting at the counter of the inn, Elban rode himself out and answered.

"Uh, first of all, is there a place in the city where we shouldn't go?

"Then it's Slam Street behind the neighborhood. That's a dim spot even during the day, and when it's bad, it's like there's murder in the day. The Count's majesty makes this city pretty safe, but you can't just be there.

"Where will it be in the place?

"Hey, well, there must have been a map of the city around here... Oops.

Expand the map of the city before the counter.

The city is circular, with the north gate above the map, the south gate below, the east gate to the right and the west gate to the left, with a straight path drawn from the central Count Castle.

And it is divided into four compartments as it is, with letters written clockwise as residential, pleasure, commercial and factory districts.

"Yeah, around here. This is our inn, directly below the North Gate. The neighborhood is on the right. This section at the far end of the wall is a slam.

"Hmm, so what's the area on the left side of the inn?

"This is a factory district where craftsmen like Gaffi and others come together to make all sorts of things.

"So what's this place down there?

"It sells weapons, protective equipment, items and everything else in the commercial district. And right next to the West Gate will be around here in your adventurer guild.

"So what's next?

"The district from East Gate to South Gate is a pleasure district. There are taverns, casinos and whorehouses.

"Heh."

"Well, if you're having a lot of fun, here you are. I want to go too, but I don't have any money right now, so I shouldn't have to go.

"Also, be aware that there is a nobleman's mansion on the inside beyond the second gate, and there is usually no civilian access. Well, there's a gatekeeper at every Michi Gate, so I can't get in.

"I understand. Thank you very much.

"Oh, I don't know what to do. Have fun.

"Then I'll go.

Having said that, I decided, for the time being, to tour around the half clock all the way around the valley.

Step out of the inn onto the boulevard and start walking west.

There are factories in the factory district.

There are different buildings, large and small, but every place has a large entrance, and it seems like the craftsmen are making a lot of things inside.

I'm interested in what I'm doing honestly because I originally graduated from Mechanics in Engineering, but I must be off-limits anyway, so I'll have to look at this even if it's far away.

Sounds like refining iron or beating metal with a hammer stick.

Elsewhere you can also see them sewing clothes.

It is well understood that the basic household goods of the entire city are made here.

I walked around for about two hours looking over there and I reached the West Gate.

In the meantime, I've come near the guild, so I'll go inside.

As always, there's a line of bastards in front of Celine.

The older aunt receptionist on the side has a flashing look and responds to a dazzling female adventurer.

Celine seems busy, so I give up talking.

So I see the requisitions lining the walls of the guild with slack.

"I don't know."

I still can't read a lot of letters. I've managed to make the conversation uncomfortable, but I haven't gotten around to reading and writing.

She pulled the edge of her clothes just wondering what was going on.

"Brother, what's wrong?

There stood Cain, the child adventurer I helped yesterday.

Just in time, I decided to ask Cain for it.

"No, I want to know what the requisition is here, but you read it.

"What? Brother, you can use magic, but you don't like the letters?

"No, no, I just can't read the letters in my country here, I can read the letters in my country.

"Hmm. Honestly, brother, you're changing. Words are common on the Garest continent. I think I learned them in private school. Is there another word? Hmm."

I instantly thought, "Oh, shit."

I didn't know it was a common language throughout the continent.

Well, I'm weirdly convinced of something, so no.

"In the meantime. Right. Tell me about the crusade request that seems to earn me an f-grade.

"What, you can't have a job that makes it easy for you to earn money in class F. If there is, we do it.

"What!? Really?

"That's right. Class G is a city chore, Class F is a little expensive chore and an easy crusade quest. There's nothing I can do to make a lot of money without being a lowest E level.

"Well, you mean it can't be that easy?

"I mean, what level is your brother in the first place?

"Me or me, I'm a G grader.

"Yep, yep, yep!!

"Hey, loud voice. Don't be so surprised. Everybody's watching.

"No, 'cause you're under us, brother!

"So what. You saved my life.

"You know, brother. My uncle from the demolition shop said that the Buffalo Crusade is a middle-class C crusade quest. How can a G-class brother defeat you? It can't be."

"Hey, do you actually want me to help you say that? In general, it is only natural that there are many holes in what people decide to do. Especially since I'm a genius. Use your head a little longer.

"No, you're not. Your brother is just weird.

That said, Cain looked unfaithful and turned his back.

Feeling that it would be useless to ask anything more, I left the guild with Cain intact.
