Hunter of the Perished World

[18] Must forget to live (2)

Leona had a lot of questions, and Jean wasn't friendly, but kind enough to answer any questions she asked. So about four days after Leona and Gin headed north, Leona had some knowledge of weapons.

It was knowledge of bows, guns, rockets. I didn't know about the ammunition, but at least I understood what a gun was. Of course, it wasn't professional knowledge either.

'Pull that trigger and the bullet will go out, and if it hits you, you'll die.'

All I know is the correlation between a gun and a bullet and a trigger. But, in fact, that was enough to know. A gun is a machine, a machine is a mechanism, but all you need to know is how to operate it.

"Am I gonna shoot you or die? I'm a kid."

"Isn't a grown-up knife the same as a kid swinging a knife the same as a cutter?"

"Yes, but I'm weak."

"Powerful doesn't make the bullet go faster."

"Don't you have to press the trigger quickly to get out?"

"…… I never imagined that. It's revolutionary."

From a point of view, shooting softly makes me lose weight sometimes. That kind of gun is now a rare weapon, and even though it varies from region to region, the territory is a perfect desolation of weapons.

Of course, it's not uncommon to go to Central Asia or Europe, but no one knows. Weapons are a barren wasteland, so the lack of knowledge of them means that people are living relatively peacefully.

"I want a gun, too."

It was natural for Leona to say that. Anyone who uses one stone is enough, especially a child who cannot defeat someone with force. Leona thinks carefully and asks.

"Can you buy it with a chip?"

"We might be able to find them in Northern or Central Asia."

"Where is it?"

"A place you won't last two days if you go."

"...... You know what, mister? Scratching it gently, pretending to be friendly? Just tell him not to dream."

"Don't even think about it."

"... I'm so unlucky."

Leona grunts as if she wanted to spit, but she doesn't pretend to hear gin.

"Well, it looks hard to lift, but you won't be able to use it."

The Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, and Shotguns were almost impossible to move without Leona's aim. Of course, Gene looks at Leona like that and pulls the revolver out of his arms.

"There are many kinds of guns. I don't favor it."

Gene took out a silver S&W style revolver. Six-combustion revolvers, of course, were not used for hunting, due to their short range to their near-field survival.

"Oh, so fucking cute...."

Leona glares at her eyes to see if she likes the look of Revolver. Leona's nerves, which she says are cute by looking at the gun, are also her nerves, but Jean notices that Leona is misunderstanding something.

"Is that for me?"

"No way. I'm just letting you know."

"Tsk. I knew it."

Gene puts the revolver in his arms, disgustingly still. Gene was just trying to explain that not only was he using a rifle, but he also had a small gun, a pistol.

He didn't even let me shoot him once, so it might seem like he's getting off his game point. Leona asked me repeatedly because she was ticklish and had a lot of questions, and Jean continued to answer.

The little monsters you meet on the way, usually prefer to avoid Jean's encounter. Jean simply replied to the question of why Leona is avoiding her.

"It's easier to use ammunition, but it's better not to deal with them because they won't even get the ammo."

"You're not squeezing, are you?"

"I'm not the type to have pride in hunting."

Gene was a truly extreme silicist, so he never fought a fight that didn't cost him a fortune. Of course, because of the food problem, Gene hunted a few poisonous dogs using Blade Gauntlet and Wire Blade.

"What the hell is that?"

Instead, Leona looks at the steel dagger as if it were more ridiculous than a gun, and does not shut up. Gene said, clearing out the pieces of poisonous dogs' meat that had been chopped into pieces.

"It's not a gun."

"Who doesn't know?"

"Don't mind if I don't."

"I really want to hit..."

Unlike guns, the words "weapons of skill" make me sick.

Anyway, when I walked north for about a week, Leona was almost an expert on firearms.

Leona sighs in relief as she faces the remote trash wall. In front of their eyes was the city of Syrah, which was definitely bigger than the city itself.

"Finally... Don't you have to eat poisonous hound meat?"

"Still, it's worth more than grilled meat."

"I've never tasted a dog like that before... Oh, no wonder it tastes like shit since it's a dog. But it really sucks! Oh, no, I mean really... A real dog... It tasted like shit. What, that... What is that ugly, dirty taste?"

Leona, who thought of the big, stinking dog, was disgusted and blue-faced with her mouth closed.

"But poisoned dog meat in the first place, it's meat that eats those who want to die.... When you asked me to eat that, I was really creeped out."

"Poisonous dogs can eat as long as they remove the endocrine glands. There was actually no problem."

Gene knew where to eat the structure of the monster. Of course, Leona was terrified because most people didn't know how to slaughter them. Of course, I had to eat it eventually.

Of course, it was no problem to eat, but it never felt like a problem to eat.

"In Southeast Asia, the endocrine glands of poisonous dogs are dried in the sea breeze and used as seasoning. A little anesthesia and hallucinations."

"I heard the world is wide and full of crazy...."

Leona shakes her head. Of course, it had nothing to do with how to eat poisoned dogs in Southeast Asia. At the end of the week's journey, the Free City was erected with a rubbish wall, but there were no gatekeepers like any free city.

"It doesn't matter if it's a free city.... Is this the next safe settlement?"

"No."

Gene has decided to take Leona to the next safe settlement, and the free city without a gatekeeper in sight is quite far from safe.

"But if you like it, you can take it down anytime, anywhere."

"I don't think this is the right place."

For now, rest your tired body in the City of Liberty. Humans are sometimes frightened, but there is nothing safer when there are too many of them. Leona was genuinely impressed by the people coming and going.

"That's quite a crowd."

"A lot of small and medium-sized towns around here. Shira acts as a kind of Node."

"Node?"

"It means that people from the towns around Syrah come here most often to sell or get things."

Numerous buildings and ruins surrounding Shira provide great rubbish walls. The fallen building becomes a huge wall, and it fills the gaps in the walls with garbage and urbanizes them to create a free city.

In fact, the area was more desolate than wilderness. Despite the abundance of grass, you can see the ruins of buildings and traces of civilization. There were many people who bargained on the streets and slept in the same building as the townspeople.

Leona was looking around like a stargazer.

"This must be a really big place. With all these big buildings."

"Before the destruction, it was called Seoul."

"Seoul?"

"Yes."

Gene said the name of a city that had already been forgotten, and Leona had no idea what it meant. A little further north from here is Seoul Mass Confusion Point (SMCP), a black hole in Seoul. Of course, I had no business going there and couldn't go there.

"You know all about being a hunter."

"I've been around a lot. I had to."

It wasn't just for that reason, but Gene didn't say anything else. Each store revealed its identity in sloppy writing, writing "weapons," "food," or "inn." There were many people who didn't know how to write, so there were often small drawings next to them.

Gene found the inn first. The owner spread two fingers as soon as he saw Gene.

"One chip last time, and the price went up."

"I didn't bring the boy next to me back then. Take room three on the third floor."

The owner points to Leona next to Jean and says, Gin asked again.

"I'll take a room. How about a chip?"

"Our inn is strictly one-on-one. I don't mind sharing a room, but you can have two."

"Quite a different breed, master."

"Chipped little bitch."

"Haha…. Rotten."

Gene cashed in two chips. Jin came right into the inn when he was in Namhae, and the owner remembered him just as he remembered the owner.

"I have a second personality and good memory, by the way."

The owner smiles as he receives two chips.

"I tend to keep track of my guests' faces. It reminds me of ticking when bounty hunters ask me."

"Isn't selling customers too easy?"

"That should be clean enough not to be chased by hunters on the guest's side."

Gene laughed at the innkeeper who had no sense of service. Something subtly unpleasant and pleasant.

"I remember you as a suspicious but talented hunter last time, but this time as a suspicious hunter with a child, right?"

"Suit yourself."

The owner shouted at the back of Gene, who was going up to the room.

"As I said before, the price of the meal is separate, and there is no need to force it."

"Don't worry, I don't want to eat here because it's dirty."

"Oh, that's too bad."

The owner chuckles, and Gene laughs bloody. A malice without malice. Gene stopped by this inn again because I liked the owner's clumsy and fluffy attitude quite well.

Of course, if the bounty hunter looking for Gene asks, the boss will hesitate to sue him and pay for his hard work.

As soon as I entered the assigned room, Jean sat on an old, squeaky mattress. In the past, this used to be a speakeasy karaoke bar, a closed space with no windows, just a place where you could sleep. Of course, the only way into this perfectly sealed space was through the door, and this was the best place to sleep for the day.

Leona lowers her backpack and stretches lightly in the dark room.

"Don't you have something to say about that old man? But you take it well. Why did you do something so stupid? There's another inn."

"I prefer the silent malice to the malicious kindness."

"You prefer an honest villain to a sparkly garbage, right?"

"I'm getting the hang of it. In fact, it's even more dangerous for a kind, spreading man. I like the owner here better than anywhere else in the world because he's so openly rubbish."

Jean laughs and Leona laughs. Gene had his own reasons for using a branch.

"Are you taking the day off and leaving right away?"

"Depends if there's a quest in town."

If you have something to take care of, you'll need to do it and earn chips. Delivering Leona is all about collateral damage, and Gene is planning to move slowly with a quest to punish himself. You don't have to turn your back on the shiny chip.

Leona looks at Gin with a fat expression.

"You seem to be handling my case backwards."

"Technicians don't work hard with their original bonuses."

"Hah..."

"I will rest."

Jean was lying on the mattress.

"Me?"

"The next room is your room. You can rest there."

"There's no lock on this door, is there?"

Leona grabs the door and tilts her head.

"Usually you have to give them four chips."

Four times more expensive than anywhere else. At least one inn without a door receives a chip. However, even though it was crude, the door was still on, but the actual cost was not very expensive, as it was one chip per night.

Leona considers whether she can rest in bed but either rests alone or needs to sleep on the bottom but is in the same room as a human weapon named Gene.

The conclusion could not be difficult.

"I'm staying here."

Leona lays down her leather bag on the ground and cuts it off.

Even though the floor is cold, Leona thinks it's better to be safe.
