Hunter of the Perished World

[30] Prototype (3)

"37 years from now, BMCP portless on the southernmost part of the Korean Peninsula collapsed. With one MCP completely dormant, Central Command in Europe has dispatched a task force. However, the Central Asian Army said they would take matters into their own hands for some reason, but the Central Command could not stand by while the MCP went dormant and, of course, ignored such requests and dispatched investigators."

Lt. Carl remembered a very accurate overview of the incident.

However, when the Central Command survey team was dispatched, Fortress in Busan was already fully sealed.

The Central Asian Armed Forces reported that monstrous experiments in progress at BMCP Fortress have erupted, causing the MCP to cease activity, and the bunker in Fortress to be completely shut down due to its lethal CP concentration. The only way to get into a fully sealed portless area was to smash it, and the Central Asian Armed Forces said the entire Korean Peninsula might be destroyed if CP and radioactivity were to leave the base.

The Central Asian military said it was urgent, but of course it was suspicious.

"It was a place with strong Central Asian troops and difficult to reach. Virtually the same as finishing the investigation by the external pressure of the Central Asian Army."

Eventually, the investigators were unable to dig into the case and returned without ever entering Portress, Busan. The report of the Central Asian military, which must have been falsified, was the only way to deal with the incident.

Since then, friction between Command and Central Asian forces has begun. The Central Asian military was hiding something, and the command tried to dig it up.

The Wargrave is strong, but its power is dispersed. They couldn't afford a war to invade and destroy each other. Thus, decades of silence passed while the friction was gradually visible.

"My job was to find out what the Central Asian Army was up to. I was assigned to Wargrave by a pre-planted internal workforce, hiding my investigative identity, and then trained as an executive."

That's why Carl was sent from the center, but actually spent longer time in the Asian military. In fact, even the Gigaframe procedure was received by the Central Asian Armed Forces.

"Hmm…. Then why don't you come straight to Busan? Why did you do something so cumbersome called Undercover?"

"For decades now, all Wargrave executives from headquarters to this side of East Asia have been treated as Missing In Action. The eastern tip of Europe and Asia is too far away. We must be caught by the Central Asians on the way."

So the Central Command decided to plant an undercover investigation into the BMCP incident through an executive from the Central Asian Armed Forces. Carl moved slowly from his executive duties to the Korean Peninsula.

"One of the guidelines of the Central Asian Armed Forces executive was not to go to the Korean Peninsula as far as possible. I didn't tell him why. I get warnings when I sneak up on them. In fact, most enforcers can't go to the Korean Peninsula."

The raid on Wargrave gave Lt. Carl a reason to enter the Korean Peninsula.

"I was still a pretty reliable enforcer. That's why I was allowed to enter the Korean Peninsula in the name of tracking Slater."

That's why I stopped by Portis in Seoul to check on the mission, once again peel off the lid of suspicion, and then went to Namhae. Slowly, to solve the real mission.

Gene and Leona also heard that the city had collapsed for some unknown reason.

"I felt like something was starting to happen and I couldn't take it anymore. HQ had a pretty good idea. About demonic production."

"So, what happened?"

"They did it."

"... This is the worst."

Fortress in Busan masqueraded as a closure and continued her experiments there. You keep it a secret from Central Command and decorate it like it was abandoned.

"It was designed to look completely closed, but it was actually closed inside. I forcibly opened the door and there were a bunch of researchers inside..."

Carl explained the situation when he entered Busan Fortress.

"Well, since then, I've heard about research after forcibly subjugating facilities."

The strength of Gigaframes exercised by Wargrave enforcers was not enough for researchers and fighters alike. But Carl's face was complicated.

"The Devil himself was completed 37 years ago. BMCP was dormant because of the devil's power at the time."

Gene didn't even get a glimpse of how many people were sacrificed.

"The Devil put Mass Confusion Point to sleep?"

"Yes."

"So what have the researchers done for 37 years?"

"They were experimenting with refining and controlling the finished demon."

In order to wield the Devil's power at their own will, they conducted such experiments in this keep.

"Maybe if I had complete control... You were breeding demons to harness their power. Whatever it is that's taking down Central Command, it's making Wargrave's dominance stronger. There's nothing bad about having power."

That means the released prototype is an artificially created demon by Wargrave. The knife shivers, covering its face with both hands.

"But as a result, I set him free...."

"What are you talking about?"

"In these cases, the Executive Officer usually immediately disassembles the person involved.... Of course. Unless you know I'm a Central Command Investigator... They're as good as the death penalty."

A bold decision was made by the head of Busan Fortress, who instigated a natural outcome. They believed in their 37 years of achievement.

"They released the test subjects and tried to kill me."

"Mmmm... But you didn't listen to the controls, and you were crushed and there were no researchers left."

"Yes."

Carl looks miserable. While Central Asian conspiracies have been uncovered, Lt. Carl has confirmed the evidence with his own eyes, but it has become a direct trigger for releasing the demon outside of us.

It was a pitiful look on his face to think that he had fallen helplessly, even with the power of Gigaframe. However, Gene asked as if he didn't understand.

"Wait, so that subject... Was the prototype stuck here the whole time? So what happened to the poem he broke?"

"I don't know about that."

Then Carl woke up in his place as if he had remembered.

"If we search the database, we might be able to find out."

Gene and Carl continue to head back to the archive room where all of Castle's data was stored. The bunker that became a sea of blood was really dead.

"There must have been a lot of it."

The subject tore the researchers apart, hard to identify, and it was an expression of unfiltered anger. You've been treated like a lab mouse for decades, so maybe you should be grateful you died instantly.

Extracting information from the database was done in Carl's hands. Throughout the vast multitude of data in an instant, Carl received information at an enormous rate.

"They wanted the most control over the witch's monsters, so the prototypes were all... It's made by the most powerful of all the demons."

"Is that so... Well, that should be easy."

"Easy?"

"No, it's nothing. Keep looking."

Gene nods heavily. Carl couldn't understand Jean, but he continued to download the data. Carl grips his teeth.

"This was a Chimera experiment."

"Of course."

It was not the creation of oil from nothing, but an experiment that fused the demon's power into the human body. In other words, the subject was not a complete demon, but a demonic force embedded in the human body. And it wasn't just the witch's power that escaped the subject. He gave another power to the finished witch. As the shocking facts continue to unfold, Carl frowns.

"Now I see.... There were two completed subjects."

"Two?"

"Yes, there was prototype one and prototype two, and 37 years ago, one surge of force interfered with the MCP's energy. That's why BMCP has created over 100 times the monsters they usually do. Fortress' forces were deployed to MCP to suppress the beast. When the guard got weak, Number 1 broke through the firewall and escaped Number 2 while attracting the guards... But... Two were killed by a chaser..."

"Whatever your intentions, there's a good chance it was a false report."

"Yes... I think he's alive twice... I'd say the self-destruct was a power of two."

"Two demons... Then why did you show up in 37 years?"

"I don't know about that."

The MCP was completely dormant after drawing a tremendous amount of energy. Also, Carl was flawed when he continued to download information from the database to himself.

"This, this..."

"What is it?"

"Prototype 1, 2... It's a picture..."

The blade shreds its eyes wide as if it could not be trusted. Both prototypes were female in number 1 and number 2. He wanted to plant the power of witches, so of course he experimented on women. But that wasn't the point.

The first photograph could be skipped, but it was the second photograph that caught Gene and Carl's eye.

"This... You look just like Leona..."

Carl looks at Gin and says,

"... It looks that way."

Two resembled Leona to believe that even though she had taken pictures in advance when she was an adult.

Carl couldn't understand a thing. The Leona she met was a child, a bit cheesy and a bit odd, but there was nothing to think of as the Devil.

"Is this... possible? Or can the Devil just change his appearance?"

Jean replies to Carl's confusing words.

"Leona's mother must have been a witch."

"…… What do you mean? Demons have children? Monsters and Humans mate, but no cubs come out. That's common sense...."

Gene cut Carl's horse in half.

"You're mistaken."

"What?"

"Witches aren't monsters."

Gene smiles bitterly, as if remembering a memory he didn't want to think of.

"Witches were human in the first place."

"Well…. What the..."

"The same is true of the human experiments at Fortress."

Carl looks stunned because he can't understand Jean's words. Gene once again said:

"A witch's power is just a superpower."

He is just a human born with powers that ordinary humans cannot have. Demons refer to seven kinds of monsters. Not just other monsters, but witches are the only humans to join the Demon's ranks.

Carl hasn't said a word in a while.

But on the contrary, Jean also had too many unknowns.

If Leona's mother was a witch, I couldn't understand why she died so powerlessly.
