I am the Monarch

< Chapter 28 Armor to Fight >

------------------------------------

The north-eastern part of the Persian kingdom was much better off than the wars in the west and south.

But even so, it was not a peaceful place.

Because monsters were spreading around in the open forest.

Because of this, the Persian Empire has a local army that is responsible for exterminating monsters.

However, as the invasion of Byron and the Eastern Kingdom put all the local military commanders responsible for defeating monsters on the front lines, there was a gap.

Monsters are attacking villages in the north-eastern region, aiming for the gap.

This was a lie when Prince Reytas Persian persuaded Prince Manus Persian.

"Beyond the right hill."

Baron Bat Innes said with a slightly tense expression.

He didn't tell me what was there.

Reytas will know anyway.

Dagdac. Dagdac.

The sound of the hoof spreads in the northwind.

Approximately twenty knights followed Reytas and Bate.

"Hmm."

Reytas rises up the hill and spills a low tear.

I was already prepared enough, but the sight that spread beyond the hill pierced my eyes and broke my heart.

'Manus.......'

Body on the ground, face down.

There were several more bodies around, but Reytas was able to identify Manus at once.

He slowly climbs down the hill.

The gaze pierces Manus' back.

Chuck.

I got off the horse and moved on.

A little further from Manus.

I couldn't get any closer.

"Manus."

My voice trembles.

"Hmmm."

Reytas clears his throat for no reason and looks directly at Manus' back.

"I had no choice but to kill you."

I have no choice.

"I was born to be king and have lived to be king. To me, you were a wall you couldn't cross and an unbearable pain."

That's why I had to break it.

"I wish I'd never been born......."

Words that are buried in your heart.

Reytas shakes his head with a short sigh and raises his right hand.

"Collect Roan Tail's body and Manus'. Pretending to be assassinated by a foreign aristocrat......."

When the horse goes on like that.

Cheers.

Reytas doubts his eyes.

Manus' corpse, who was lying on the ground, shakes violently.

"Ugh!"

"What, what!"

The knights behind you, including Bait, scream in terror.

Which means Reytas didn't see it wrong.

"What the….."

Reytas frowns and looks at Manus' corpse.

Hustle. Hustle.

Manus' body is shaken a few times up and down, and then he gets up on his feet with his arms on the ground.

It wasn't a body.

"Reytas."

The voice that sank gracefully was clearly Manus'.

He stands tall on his feet and looks at Reytas' face.

"Really......."

I feel like I'm pressing something hot in my chest.

"You tried to kill me."

I didn't believe it.

I didn't want to believe it.

But everything turned out to be true.

"Whew."

Manus takes a deep breath.

"How are you alive?"

Reytas frowns and bites.

I was embarrassed for a moment, but soon I regained my composure.

"That's......."

By the time Manus said it,

Hustle. Hustle.

All the bodies that were scattered around you move up and down.

"Huff!"

"Oops!"

The bates and knights saw it and swallowed up the false wind.

Shortly thereafter, the young officers escorting Manus, including Ronan and Clay, stand up and wipe away the soil from their bodies.

None of them died.

No, no one was hurt.

The blood on his clothes must have belonged to someone else.

Reytas smiles bitterly at his appearance.

"I've seen you so easily. Manus."

At that, Manus shakes his head.

He looks back at Roan and opens his mouth.

"No, you underestimated the Baron Tail, not me. It's all his work."

Suddenly, I felt strong in my voice.

"Hmm."

At that point, Reytas looks at Roan with a low depression.

Roan glances at the hot stare.

'This is how it ends.'

Manus' wish did not come true.

Then I hear Manus' voice.

"Did I really have to do this?"

"Yes, it was for the best."

Reytas replies boldly.

Manus grits his teeth for a moment and chews them out like a man.

"If my brother wanted me gone, I would have. It's annoying and irritating, so I would have told him to live like he was dead."

I was never interested in politics or power in the first place.

Reytas would have done it if he wanted to.

Reytas glances at Manus and shakes his head slowly.

"That's living dead, not dead."

He spread his arms wide.

"Manus, you may be very smart and very talented, but you know nothing about politics and power. You want to live like a dead man? So you think everything's gonna work out? You're welcome."

Reytas' voice grows louder and louder.

"The forces supporting you will wait for your return. I will try to raise your power, build your foundation, and raise you to the pinnacle of power. Maybe he's pointing a knife at me first."

"That's the conclusion you came to."

Manus frowns.

At that, Reytas smiles faintly.

He whispered in a small voice.

"Manus, the people of the world are more like me than you. I'm obsessed with power, wealth, honor. Even if you pretend to be polite, things will get messy around you eventually."

Reytas points to Manus.

"The seeds of chaos will not fade as long as you live. The anxiety and helplessness that condemns me......."

He takes two steps back.

At the same time, the knights in the rear walk forward.

Manus only has ten men left, combined with Roan, who is young.

By comparison, the number of knights was more than twenty.

"Reytas."

Manus is calm.

"I wanted to believe you. But that belief was beautifully shattered."

The light flashes in my eyes.

It was a cold, hard light.

It was not Manus' eyes that moved round and soft, saying it was a good thing.

"You were nervous because of my abilities? A wall you can't cross? So you had to kill me?"

He looks into Reytas' eyes.

"Don't be a coward."

"What?"

Reytas asks if he doesn't know.

I was a little embarrassed because I had never seen Manus like this before.

Manus continued.

"King Madison von Wright, the Grand Heir to the Wright Kingdom, has five brothers under him. They were all out there. Especially his third brother, Flap, was much more talented than King Madison. So King Madison killed him? King Madison gave Flap command of the entire army. Afterwards, Flap led the army to victory in numerous wars and battles and laid the foundation for the Light Kingdom to be built."

"That's......."

When Reytas tried to talk him out of it.

"Brother."

Manus hangs up.

There was a spark in my eyes.

"You don't deserve to be king."

"Funny you should say that."

Reytas snorts.

Manus speaks indifferently.

"Can someone who fears even a brother lead a country? That's the funny thing."

The horse becomes a thorn in Reytas' chest.

Manus looks at Reytas sadly.

Reytas couldn't stand that look and that look.

He yelled nervously.

"Manus, stop dying!"

Irritated.

Though he survived exploring the trap, there was still a chance.

There was no problem in finishing it clearly even now.

"Gear's gonna kill me, right?"

"There is no turning back now."

Reytas gives a short answer to Manus' question.

"Whew."

Manus sighs briefly.

"Where did my brother's men, who were ambushing me to kill Baron Tail, go?"

A sudden question.

Reytas surprisingly replies with a bold expression.

"You guys must have taken care of it."

As the horse finishes, the commotion rises to the right.

"My prince!"

"My lord!"

It was a group of troops led by Harrison and Brian that suddenly appeared without any ordinary troops.

An army of roughly 500 men hid themselves from Reytas' ambushing soldiers.

"The number of our soldiers is over 500."

Manus speaks in a calm voice.

"You don't have any more chances."

At that, Reytas shakes his head.

"No, there's still a chance. We can kill you before they come down the hill."

"Do it if you can. I'm not backing out anymore."

Decisive expression and voice.

Manus gives up his hopes for Reytas.

Reytas shakes his right hand, not waiting any longer.

"Kill."

A terrible command has been given.

Blame!

Twenty knights floored at the same time.

The soldiers on the hill slowly start to move, but the distance is pretty far.

"Die!"

Knights rush in with evil intent.

Then.

Phew!

Suddenly, a long black stick strikes the knights in front of their feet.

"Huff!"

"Hehe!"

Two well-driven knights rolled the floor without even avoiding it.

"What, what!"

The knights burst their eyes with ferocity.

Immediately, an elongated stick bursts into the air, leaving behind a residual image.

"Huff!"

"Damn it!"

The knights shiver to the left and to the right, avoiding the sticks digging through their gaps.

Some of them were swinging swords and throwing sticks.

Pa!

A young man with a blurry vision stood in front of the knights.

The owner of the black stick.

It was Roan.

"I'm sorry, but we're not the ones who die….."

I twisted my wrist.

Chang.

A long window rises from the edge of the black bar.

Travis' spear was intact.

"You are."

Blame!

At the end of the sentence, Roan plunges into the ground.

A long stretch of spear quickly recedes through the knights.

"Son of a bitch!"

"How dare you come at me alone!"

The knights thought that Roan was making an exception.

Then.

Pavat!

In front of the knights' eyes, only two fingers appeared the size of a sphere.

"Grrrgh!"

"Ugh!"

In a sudden situation, most knights turn their heads, frowning.

'There you go.'

Roan calls for inner joy.

Because light magic with Brandt's ring worked in practice.

As Roan reads the Knights' Mana Flow with Calian tears, he drops his spear.

The Sharp Spear dances through the bodies of knights under the Light Magic.

"Huff!"

"Hehe."

Don't stop.

Four knights have fallen without ever resisting.

"Hmm."

"Ah......."

Manus and his young officers poured low elasticity into the situation.

They look at Roan's back, standing in front of them.

'Is this the work of a Red Ghost?'

What was that light? '

Gulp.

I drooled on my own.

A little confused.

Roan is different from what they used to know.

People who have always talked about different things with a good smile.

Rather, it felt more like a gateway than a gateway.

But now, Roan.

'Smells of dark blood.'

'This kind of defeat is not made by itself.'

A tremendous defeat that can only be won by battlefields for decades.

Roan is now gushing out of his body like that.

'I'm standing behind you, but I can't breathe.'

Manus opens his chest and takes a deep breath.

The knights of Reytas in front of Roan will suffocate as they feel this pressure.

Manus smiles bitterly and picks up a sword off the ground.

"Let's get started."

"Yes, I understand."

The young officers quickly picked up their swords.

They take a step back and take their place on either side of Roan.

Reytas glares at him with a cool look in his eyes.

"I don't need the others. Focus on killing Manus."

"Yes!"

After the knights responded in one voice, they landed on the ground.

Roan looks at the running knights and speaks in a small voice.

"Prince Manus. Are you sure you want to?"

"Yes, I've already made up my mind."

Manus replied with a bold expression.

Roan looks around at him and the young officers and nods.

"So, shall we finish the job?"

Everyone was horrified by the end of the sentence.

Ta-ah!

The young officers, including Roan and Manus, and Reytas' knights rush at each other fiercely.

And finally.

Boom!

Together with the sound of the noise, they blended together.

Cham! Cham! Chang!

A flame strikes with the sound of iron.

Harpoons.

The numbers were much fewer on both sides of Roan and Manus, but the charter was a whistle.

Why?

Spot!

"Huff!"

Manus of fancy swordsmanship.

Squeak!

"Grrrgh!"

Thanks to Roan, the concise and destructive spear.

The two of them chased the knights, showing them their natural acceptance as if they had even touched each other.

Meanwhile, the troops that were coming down the hill are now approaching the foothills.

Reytas looks up at the blue sky from the battle unfolding before his eyes.

'Winter sunshine is still good.'

However, it felt different from the sunlight I was looking through the window of the office.

If the sun was warm then, the sun was cold now.

The northern wind has broken through the clothing collar.

It was cold.

Grrr.

He moves slowly with his sword drawn from his waist.

His gaze was again on Manus.

'I'll slit your throat myself.'

As far as swordsmanship is concerned, Manus has made his move, or a few, even better.

But...

'You can't cut me, but I can cut you.'

Even as I pretended to be cold, Manus was Manus.

That's what Reytas thought.

He clenches his teeth into the ground.

The target is only Manus.

Then.

Spot!

The light flashes and a window pops out of your nose.

"Hehe!"

Reytas wields his sword with his teeth.

The windshield in front of you fades back, as if you were waiting.

Swoong.

The black air splits nicely.

"Hmm."

The balance is broken.

The retreating windmill suddenly approaches again.

Needless to say, the owner of the spear was Roan.

"That's all for now."

Roan slowly approaches, decreasing the length of Travis' spear.

Reytas looks into Roan's eyes.

"Roan Tail. You're making me miss my job."

At that, Roan shakes his head.

"Your filthy desires have led you astray."

"There is nothing impure in desire. It's just hot."

Reytas gives strength to the grip of the sword.

He looks at Manus behind him, driven by knights.

"Stay out of brother's business."

Reytas has something to finish.

Roan twists his wrist into position.

I had a cool smile on my mouth.

"Then I shouldn't have gotten involved in the brothers' business in the first place."

No sign of retreat at all.

Reytas grips his teeth, gazing directly into Roan's eyes.

And then...

"Roan Tail!"

I crashed into the ground screaming.

The anger and despair that I had struggled to endure burst out in a moment.

Reytas' sword splits the room with immense vigor.

"I was suffered enough to lose my composure......."

Roan shakes his arms quickly, moving his feet gently.

"I'm not foolish."

At the same time, the windshield flutters.

A light flashes between Roan and Reytas.

It was a light that felt sad because it was so bright.
