Chapter 97: Ch 97- Mutated Slime
Looking at the strange beast in front of him, Mo Yuan couldn’t help but question everything he knew about slimes.
’Is this shit really a slime?’
Around two hundred meters below the surface of the Black Marsh, a strange slime-like beast was slowly moving through the muddy water.
Its main body was around five meters long, which wasn’t particularly large compared to some of the beasts Mo Yuan had seen before.
The crazy part was its tentacles.
There were ten of them.
Each tentacle stretched nearly a hundred meters through the dark water, moving silently through the marsh and searching for prey. Whenever one of the tentacles found a beast, it would instantly wrap around it and drag it back toward the main body.
Just like the slime Mo Yuan had seen earlier, another tentacle suddenly caught a beast.
The beast struggled desperately but the tentacle was too strong. In just a few seconds, it was pulled back to the slime.
Then something even stranger happened.
The body of the slime opened slightly and the captured beast was swallowed directly into it.
Mo Yuan watched carefully.
The strange thing was that the beast didn’t seem to be eaten in the normal way.
Instead, its body slowly disappeared inside the slime.
’This must be the Devour Talent.’
Mo Yuan’s eyes lit up.
He had finally found what he had been looking for.
After searching the Black Marsh for more than a week, he had finally encountered a slime that was different from the others.
’Let’s see what Realm it is.’
Mo Yuan carefully moved closer.
He remained hidden using his Shadow Talent and slowly approached the strange slime.
Recently, he hadn’t been using his Shadow Talent much.
The beasts in the deeper parts of the Black Marsh were much stronger than those in the Outer Area. Most of them had reached the High or Peak Level Beast Realm.
Against beasts of that level, hiding with his current Shadow Talent wasn’t very useful but this slime was different.
Mo Yuan could sense its aura clearly.
’Advanced Level.’
His expression became serious.
An Advanced Level Beast was still far weaker than him but this slime was clearly unusual. He didn’t want to alert it before he could copy its talents.
He carefully entered the seventy-meter range.
Then he activated his Copy and Paste Talent.
The familiar information immediately appeared in his mind.

Bloodline Talent: Peak Grade
Devour Talent: Superior Grade
Body Morphing Talent: Ultimate Grade
Kinetic Energy Absorption Talent: Inferior Grade
Mo Yuan’s eyes widened.
’Holy shit.’
’So many useful talents.’
He stared at the panel for several seconds.
The Devour Talent was obvious.
It was probably the reason this slime could consume other beasts and somehow absorb them into its body.
Then there was the Body Morphing Talent.
’Ultimate Grade Body Morphing.’
Mo Yuan looked at the ten huge tentacles stretching through the water.
’So this is how it can control its body like that.’
A normal slime had a simple blob-like body but with this talent, the Mutated Slime could reshape its body however it wanted.
The Kinetic Energy Absorption Talent was also interesting.
’This should allow it to absorb some of the force from attacks.’
Mo Yuan couldn’t help but become excited. If he could copy all these talents, his strength would increase again.
However, there was one problem.
His Copy and Paste Talent still had a cooldown. There was still a week before he could use it again.
’What a pain.’
Mo Yuan frowned.
He couldn’t simply copy the talents right now and more importantly, he needed to kill this beast without damaging its body too much.
His Copy and Paste Talent had certain restrictions. If the corpse was damaged too badly, he might not be able to copy its talents.
’I need to preserve the body.’
Mo Yuan stared at the Mutated Slime.
’Since it’s only an Advanced Level Beast, its soul should be much weaker than mine.’

The water, the plants, the beasts nearby and even its own tentacles vanished from its perception.

Its ten tentacles violently moved through the water, trying to find something but nothing could be sensed.

However, he couldn’t remain in his Shadow state while attacking.
His figure slowly appeared in front of the Mutated Slime. The moment the slime sensed his presence, its entire body trembled.
Then it went berserk.
"Seriously?"

The ten tentacles surrounding the slime suddenly multiplied.
Ten became twenty.
Twenty became thirty.
Then fifty.
In just a few seconds, dozens of tentacles covered the surrounding area and rushed toward Mo Yuan from every direction.
Mo Yuan wasn’t worried.
With his current defense and physical strength, these attacks couldn’t seriously injure him.
However, the moment the tentacles wrapped around his body, his expression changed.
They were sticky and there were way too many of them.
"Ugh."
Mo Yuan’s face twisted in disgust.
’Ew, fuck No.’
He struggled against the dozens of tentacles wrapped around his body.
’I need to finish this quickly.’
The Mutated Slime seemed to sense that its attack had succeeded.
More tentacles emerged from its body and began tightening around Mo Yuan.
Mo Yuan’s eyes narrowed.
"Alright, that’s enough."
His soul power surged once again.
