I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means

Chapter 1817 - 985: Demon Gates Emerge

In some critical locations of the Gaia World, there are watchers from the Church of the Gods stationed for long periods.

They are stationed year-round in these places that are easily eroded by the Abyss Power, vigilant day and night towards everything around them.

Once an anomaly is detected, they immediately relay the information.

The Church of the Gods also has some predictions on where the Demon’s Gate will open.

When the Demon’s Gate appears within the watchers’ sight, and the booming sound of space tearing along with a strong evil aura rushes in, the watchers of the Church of the Gods instantly change expressions, the calm on their faces replaced by shock and gravity.

Having dealt with Abyss Power for years, they are well aware of the terror of the Demon’s Gate.

Without any hesitation, the leading watcher immediately orders, leaving behind two stronger watchers to temporarily monitor the movements of the Demon’s Gate, recording the number and types of demons.

The rest immediately retreat, delivering the intelligence of the Demon’s Gate’s appearance back to the Church of the God’s base as fast as possible.

They understand clearly in their hearts that with every second of delay, more demons will descend, and more lives will fall victim to slaughter.

They must quickly transmit the information back to allow the Church of the Gods to promptly dispatch the Transcendent team to come, to obliterate these demons, to destroy the Demon’s Gate, and to prevent further extension of Abyss Power.

However, not all Demon’s Gates appear within the watchers’ sight.

The Gaia World is vast and boundless, with many places remote and desolate, sparsely populated.

Those places have no watchers from the Church of the Gods, becoming breeding grounds for Demon’s Gates to silently spring forth.

In these remote corners, Demon’s Gates quietly open under the gathering of Abyss Power.

Countless demons pour out from them, unimpeded, ravaging the remote areas of the Gaia World.

These Demon’s Gates in remote areas, like tumors hidden in the darkness, silently corrode the Gaia World.

At the same time, in various corners of the Gaia World, more and more spaces begin to tear apart, and more and more Demon’s Gates quietly appear.

Whether near bustling human towns, or in the depths of desolate deserts, whether on towering mountain tops, or in the deep ocean floors, traces of Demon’s Gates are present.

They emerge like bamboo shoots after the rain, exuding a dense evil aura, from which countless demons pour out, ravaging, slaughtering, and devouring across the lands of the Gaia World.

In an instant, the darkness in the Gaia World thickens, despair permeates the air.

The fierce wind still roars, and the Abyss Breath still ravages.

Demons’ roars and creatures’ wails intertwine, composing a dirge of the apocalypse.

While the Church of the Gods, which had been preparing and vigilant against the Abyss threat in the shadows, almost immediately captured this destructive aura.

On the Holy Altar deep within the Dawn Church, the eternally burning Holy Flame abruptly surged, and countless Divine Crystals inlaid in the altar’s stone walls emitted a dazzling light, illuminating the surroundings as if it were broad daylight.

Stringent emergency orders were sent out like sparks of fire, directed towards the Church of the God’s camps scattered across the continent.

Other churches were the same, each with their own methods for detecting the invasion of Abyss Demons.

The Church of the Gods, already prepared, had gradually withdrawn its forces from the Underground City, and had long since cultivated a formidable army of Transcendents.

These Transcendents, all baptized by Holy Power, are equipped with weapons and armor forged from Divine Iron and infused with Holy Magic.

Whether it be the Priest’s Healing Blessing, the Holy Knight’s Holy Judgment, or the Demon Hunter’s precise hunting, all have been honed through relentless trials.

All just for the moment the Abyss descends, to stand forth and guard the lives of Gaia World’s beings.

The moment they received the watcher’s alert, the Transcendent army poised in the various camps, like arrows departing from the string, swiftly gathered and rushed towards the nearest Demon’s Gate.

Soon, the Transcendent army clashed with the Abyss Demons.

The Holy Knights took the lead charge, slashing their Holy Swords to unleash radiant Holy Light, instantly incinerating the Little Demons at the forefront into ashes.

The Priests in the rear chanted Holy Prayers, the gentle Holy Light falling on companions, healing their injuries, while forming an invisible barrier to block the evil attacks from the demons.

The Demon Hunters hid in the shadows, pulling their Enchanted Longbows taut, precisely shooting those that were stronger within the demon waves.

Their target is clear and resolute, to quickly obliterate the Abyss Demons near the Demon’s Gate, to destroy the yet-to-be fully stabilized Demon’s Gate, and to avoid these Abyss creatures from causing further slaughter and destruction.

Every Transcendent exerted their full strength, the sacred and the fallen clashing fiercely on the battlefield, with demon howls and slashing sounds, as well as Priest’s prayer chants intertwining, creating a grim and heroic battle scene.

However, this is just one of countless battlefields.

In every corner of the Gaia World, whether near bustling human city-states, in barren deserts, or deep in dense forests, various sizes of Demon’s Gates emerged.

They are like grim wounds, continuously pouring evil and destruction onto the Gaia World.

The sheer number of Demon’s Gates is overwhelming, and they are distributed too far and wide.

Even though the Church of the Gods was well-prepared, they simply cannot be everywhere at once.

The church can only first clear out the Abyss Demons in the vicinity of their camps and surrounding areas, stabilizing the core defense line.

Then gradually pull back forces, advancing into other regions, to eliminate the Demon’s Gates one by one.

This is the most prudent choice of the moment, but it also means those places far from the church camps and isolated by difficult transportation will be plunged into unprecedented dire straits.

For those living in remote villages and deep mountains, the sudden appearance of a Demon’s Gate is nothing less than a cataclysm.

They have no Extraordinary Power, no solid fortifications, and were devoured by the surging demons before they could even react.

The villages were set ablaze, farmlands trampled by demons, the cries and desperate shouts of the old and young echoing in the village.

The Church of the Gods is not unaware of this, and they have started organizing manpower in advance, attempting to relocate residents living in remote areas, to settle them in towns or church camps with defensive capabilities.

But the Gaia World is simply too vast, many remote villages are isolated from the world, making timely contact impossible.

Even once contacted, the evacuation becomes exceedingly difficult in the face of the unexpected demon invasion.

Often, as soon as a part of the people is evacuated, the demons have already arrived, leaving those behind to merely become the prey of demons.

Similar scenes are also occurring in regions like Dwarf Tribes and the Beastman Kingdom.

However, there, it’s each race’s respective temples that organize the resistance battle against the Abyss Demons.

During such times, the human clan, occupying the largest region of Gaia World, received even greater impacts.

Simultaneously, Demon’s Gates also appeared all over the Fanor Continent.

However, the place where Abyss Gates appeared the most is in the southern part of the Fanor Continent, in the Navia Great Forest, which is the Elf Forest.

Upon receiving Lis’ prior warning, Adela had already mobilized the elves in advance, gathering the elves of the entire Elf Forest to the surroundings of the Elf Royal City, the Jade City, and Liuguang Green Field.

The Elf Clan in the Elf Gods

The originally endless, lush green-covered Elf Forest was once a pure sanctuary.

But at this moment, this sanctuary is shrouded in despair.

Dense Demon’s Gates are like ugly scars, covering every corner of the forest, exuding putrid black mist that perpetually devours the surrounding vitality.

Where the black mist passes, the lush vegetation withers and blackens instantly, towering ancient trees are ignited by flames, the crackling flames licking at the branches.

Thick smoke rises, dyeing the sky a murky gray.

Once clear streams turned turbid and foul-smelling, wildflowers by the banks withered completely, forest birds and beasts fled in panic long ago, leaving only trampled branches and leaves by the demons.

The entire Elf Forest, in a short period, was riddled with devastation, the vitality of old completely vanished.

In critical times, the elves quickly organized to guard around their homeland.

But the number of Demon’s Gates is simply too many, and despite the elves’ determined resistance, they ultimately struggle to withstand this unending assault, the defense line impacted repeatedly.

Many elves bore scars, barely able to hold the surroundings of the Elf City, resisting the frenzied onslaught of Abyss Demons.

The air is filled with the smell of gunpowder and blood, despair and hope intertwine in this fragmentary forest.
