Chapter 573: The Only Outsider in the Cave?
It went without saying for Qian Fanji and Zhan Chi. They had long known the little girl was a master of acupuncture, but they were still astonished watching her now.
Gu Shuo had heard the stories about the Helian Royal Mansion long ago, but he hadn’t quite believed them. Seeing this today was a true eye-opener.
You wouldn’t find another person in the entire Capital City with such skill.
After she finished placing the needles, Ye Qianning took a moment to catch her breath before her gaze fell upon Qin Huai, who was leaning against a distant wall, seemingly asleep.
"He’s sleeping quite soundly."
’The nerve of him, being able to sleep like that.’
She was also surprised that this group hadn’t started in on Qin Huai.
Hearing this, Zhan Chi noticed Qin Huai as well. He got up, strode over, and landed a kick on the sleeping man. "On your feet."
Qin Huai yelped as he fell to the ground. His eyes shot open, and he jolted in terror.
Zhan Chi grabbed him by the collar and dragged him forward, then landed another seven or eight kicks. Qin Huai’s agonized howls were ear-piercing.
Ye Qianning now understood why they hadn’t tortured Qin Huai while she was asleep.
’They were probably afraid the sound of a pig being slaughtered would disturb my sleep.’
"I have something very important to ask him. Outsiders, leave us," Ye Qianning said coldly.
Outsiders?
Zhan Chi and Gu Shuo exchanged a look, then turned to Qian Fanji.
Qian Fanji remained as steady as a rock. ’He certainly wasn’t an outsider.’
After a moment of exchanging glances, their eyes all settled on the man in red.
The man in red hadn’t planned on eavesdropping and was about to leave. But as he turned, he met their wary gazes and realized they didn’t seem to have any intention of leaving themselves.
He glanced around at them and had to suppress a laugh.
’So, in this entire cave, I’m the only outsider?’
The man in red pulled back the foot he had been about to move. "I’m quite curious," he said, "what is your relationship to the young lady?"
"That’s none of your business. If you know what’s good for you, leave now. Don’t make me use force," Zhan Chi pressed.
"Even if you tried, you might not be able to defeat me."
"You..."
"Sir, we have important matters to discuss. We must ask you to leave us for a moment," Qian Fanji said coolly, his eyes filled with an icy chill.
The man in red completely disregarded the threat. "I’m not against leaving," he said. "But the young lady just said all outsiders must step away. I’m just curious on what grounds you consider yourselves anything but outsiders?"
Gu Shuo and Qian Fanji were both stunned speechless for a moment.
"The little lass is my parents’ god-granddaughter," Zhan Chi spoke up first. "By that generational logic, I’m her godfather. Now, you tell me if I’m an outsider."
The man in red turned his gaze to the other two.
"My father’s god-granddaughter."
"My grandfather’s god-great-granddaughter."
Qian Fanji and Gu Shuo spoke in unison.
Surprise flashed in the red-clothed man’s eyes. He rubbed his chin. ’Interesting.’
’Just which noble house does a child with such immense talent belong to?’
Ye Qianning frowned. "All of you, out."
"Little lass?" Zhan Chi turned back in surprise.
Ye Qianning said nothing, her gaze sweeping over them.
"Let’s go." Qian Fanji was the first to depart.
Gu Shuo also turned to leave.
Zhan Chi shot the red-clothed man a glare. "Aren’t you leaving?"
The man in red shrugged, finally appeased. He turned and ambled away with a lazy gait.
Zhan Chi cursed the man in red a hundred times over in his head. If that guy hadn’t stirred up trouble, the little lass would never have driven them away.
Ye Qianning watched them all leave, then beckoned Sang Zhi over.
Sang Zhi walked to her side. He knew what she wanted to ask. He, too, had many questions of his own. ’Is there really some secret hidden within my eyes?’
The moment Qin Huai saw Sang Zhi, he instantly understood what she wanted to ask. He couldn’t help but shrink back instinctively.
