Sang Zhi pried her hand away. "I’m not scared."

"It’s better if kids don’t watch," Ye Qianning insisted, her small hand firm.

"You’re the kid here! If you’re not scared, then I’m not either." Sang Zhi turned his head. ’She’s obviously only six years old, and she’s calling *me* young.’

"You’re different from me."

"How are we different?"

"I’m not telling you."

Ye Qianning looked back at the fight.

Qin Huai still hadn’t figured out what Ye Qianning’s earlier glance meant. He looked up just in time to see one of the two assassins fall dead. He didn’t need to guess; the other one wasn’t getting away either.

His mind raced as he desperately sought a way to survive.

Seeing his partner fall, the other assassin panicked. He was driven back by a flurry of Sword Qi, and as soon as he found his footing, he tried to flee.

But the more he feared, the more he panicked, and his movements became sloppy. His death was certain.

The assassin had only taken two steps before a longsword pierced through his chest from behind.

He looked down in horror before his body collapsed, never to move again.

Qin Huai was terrified. He sat on the ground, scrambling backward until he hit the stone wall, trapped. He stared at the group, his eyes wide with horror.

"Throw the bodies outside," Qian Fanji ordered.

Gu Shuo nodded.

Several of them carried Ye Qianning to a spot further inside the cave, setting her down. They then brought in the severely wounded Luo Wen and Ying Yuan before going to dispose of the bodies.

Ye Qianning took Luo Wen’s pulse. ’His injuries are extremely serious. If that huge fire hadn’t broken out and forced the East Shu Hidden Guards to retreat in a hurry, Luo Wen would probably be dead.’

Ying Yuan was also badly hurt. Chu Yue had been merciless; her whip was laced with a potent poison, leaving Ying Yuan in a deep coma.

After checking both their pulses, she pulled a few pills from her robes, placing one in Luo Wen’s mouth and another in Ying Yuan’s to keep them alive. She then took out an ointment and a bottle of disinfectant, handing them to Ying Ge.

"Disinfect your wounds, apply this ointment, and then tend to Luo Wen and Ying Yuan." She then handed Ying Ge another pill. "Take this."

"Young Miss, my injuries aren’t serious. It is your wounds that look severe. You should take it." Ying Ge didn’t reach for the pill.

She was deeply moved. ’Our young miss is so badly hurt, yet she’s still thinking about us.’

’What have we ever done to deserve such concern from her?’

"If there’s one thing we’re not short on, it’s medicine. Take it." Ye Qianning insisted with a flick of her hand.

Ying Ge hesitated for a moment before finally taking the pill.

The red-robed man stood leaning against the wall near Ye Qianning. He watched her take their pulses with a practiced air, a flicker of suspicion in his eyes. ’This little kid knows medicine?’

His gaze fell on the porcelain bottle in Ying Ge’s hand.

’The little girl is dressed in rags. There’s nowhere she could have hidden those things. Where did she just pull them from?’

After disposing of the assassins, Qian Fanji and the others came back inside and walked over to Ye Qianning.

"Let me see your injuries." Qian Fanji crouched down to examine her leg.

"I’ve already treated it. And it looks like you’re all hurt, too." Ye Qianning tossed them some pills and ointment. "Take care of yourselves. I know how to handle my own injuries."

"Do you really trust us so little?" Qian Fanji took hold of her leg. The dressing was simple—just a strip of cloth, now stained red with blood.

"It’s not that,"

Ye Qianning replied.

She didn’t argue, letting him unwrap the cloth from her leg and clean the wound.

’The wound on my leg pierced all the way through, but at least it didn’t hit the bone. It’ll heal with time. The wound running from my left shoulder to my chest is far more serious.’

’Even if they saw it, they wouldn’t be able to treat it. The mutated beast carried a virulent pathogen. It won’t be easy to purge, and if I can’t get it under control, I could die.’
