Chapter 346: The Witch & The King (2)
Sybill gritted her teeth as dark blood slowly seeped from the corner of her lips.
She quickly wiped it away with the back of her hand, refusing to let anyone see even a hint of weakness.
"Impossible..." she muttered.
She had expected the black pearl to grant her overwhelming power, yet Azul’s control over the ocean was far stronger than she had imagined.
Every dark mist she summoned was swallowed by his currents, and every Dark Entity she created was met by another Demon Sea Beast answering his call.
On the other side, Azul slowly swam toward her. Powerful ocean currents circled around his body, forming a shield so strong that the black mist couldn’t get anywhere near him.
The Kingdom of Aquillian, once filled with colorful coral, lively streets, and countless sea beastkin, had been reduced to nothing but ruins.
The homes that had once been full of laughter were now piles of broken stone. The people Sybill had claimed to protect had never been saved at all.
They had been slaughtered.
After all, the Sea Witch’s black magic demanded sacrifices, and innocent lives had become the fuel for her power.
"You sacrificed countless innocent people," Azul said while looking at her sharply. "You killed those who had served our royal family with loyalty for years. You slaughtered the men without mercy, and you threw the women to the Devourers before taking their lives as well."
His voice remained calm, but his eyes were filled with grief.
As he looked around the ruined kingdom, memories that did not belong to him continued to appear.
To be honest, he had never expected to possess such an ability.
Unlike Maristella, who could see the future, Azul had inherited the power to see the past. By sensing the lingering energy around him, he could witness the events that had once taken place.
In his vision, the Kingdom of Aquillian had become a living hell.
Corpses covered the streets. Blood stained the once-beautiful coral, and terrified screams echoed through every corner of the kingdom.
"You even killed all of our siblings," Azul said, his voice shaking despite his efforts to stay calm.
Sybill let out a laugh, dark blood slowly running down from the corner of her lips.
"They were useless," she said without the slightest regret. "But they were members of the royal family, so they carried plenty of energy. It would have been a waste not to use them."
"If Mera hadn’t known about you, I probably would have killed him too," Sybill said with a smile. "Out of everyone, he had one of the strongest sources of energy."
"He’s always cared for us, Sybill," Azul said quietly. His grip on his spear tightened. "But how dare you torture him until he lost his mind? You’re not just the reincarnation of a witch. You’re a demon from hell."
Sybill’s smile disappeared and the black mist around her erupted like a storm. She thrust out her hand.
"And you’re a bastard who stands in my way," Sybill said coldly.
She thrust out her hand and dozens of black spikes shot through the water, racing toward Azul from every direction. The ocean shook as they tore through the currents, leaving trails of darkness behind them.
Azul didn’t retreat. With a single swing of his spear, the surrounding water surged upward, crashing into the black spikes and shattering them one after another.
Boom!
The collision sent violent shockwaves across the battlefield.
Sybill seized the opening and lunged forward, she transformed the black pearl into a staff coated in black magic. Then she swung it straight at Azul’s head.
Clang!
Azul raised his spear just in time. The two weapons collided, releasing a burst of blue and black energy that forced the surrounding seawater away.
None of them wanted to back down.
Sybill attacked again and again, each strike faster than the last. Black blades, chains of shadow, and waves of dark magic poured toward Azul without pause.
However, unlike her desperate attacks, Azul responded with remarkable calm, as though nothing could shake him now that the ocean had chosen his side.
Every current flowed with him as if it were part of his own body. The rushing water blocked Sybill’s attacks, swept away her black magic, or crushed it before it could even reach him.
"You’ve stolen countless lives to gain your power," Azul said as he knocked aside another attack. "But today, I won’t let you take another."
Sybill’s eyes burned with anger. "As if you gained all this power without any sacrifice!" she shouted back. "Don’t pretend you’re some kind of saint when you’re no different from me!"
"No different?" Azul’s voice trembled with anger. He tightened his grip on his spear until his knuckles turned white.
"I didn’t kill them," he said through gritted teeth. "You’re the one who slaughtered them!"
Sybill let out a cold laugh. "History only remembers the victor."
Azul said coldly, "Then I will make sure that I will be the one who achieves that."
Black mist burst from her body once more, swallowing the surrounding water. But then powerful currents rose from below, spinning into a massive whirlpool that swallowed the mist one after another.
Without warning, Sybill vanished into the black mist, and a split second later, she appeared behind Azul, her staff wrapped in dark energy as she swung it straight toward his back.
Clang!
Azul turned just in time. His spear caught the attack, and the impact sent a powerful shockwave racing across the ocean.
They exchanged blow after blow, moving so quickly that even the Demon Sea Beasts and Dark Entities below could barely follow their movements.
Blue currents and black mist collided again and again.
Sybill suddenly thrust out her free hand once more and black chains erupted from the darkness, wrapping around Azul’s arms and legs.
"I’ve got you!" she shouted.
The chains tightened around him. For a brief moment, Azul stopped moving and Sybill smiled triumphantly as she gathered all of the remaining black magic into the tip of her staff.
"Die!"
She thrust the staff forward.
At that very moment, the ocean exploded.
A surge of water burst from beneath Azul’s feet, shattering every black chain in an instant.
Sybill’s eyes widened. "What—"
The current carried Azul forward with incredible speed. Before she could retreat, he was already standing right in front of her.
His blue eyes stared deeply into hers. "This is for everyone you took from us."
Azul thrust his spear forward, and the blade pierced straight through Sybill’s heart, shattering every layer of black magic that had tried to protect her.
