Tang Yi and Wang Zongyao hadn’t seen each other for days, and when they finally met, they chatted with great enthusiasm. They were like two old friends reuniting after years apart, with an endless supply of things to talk about.

During their conversation, Wang Zongyao repeatedly brought up his daughter, Wang Bi’Er. He recounted her cute antics and outstanding achievements, praising her as a peerless beauty, unrivaled in all the world. He also mentioned she wasn’t betrothed, making it seem like he was trying to market her.

However, Tang Yi simply smiled at this and didn’t offer any strong opinions.

Tang Piaomiao, on the other hand, couldn’t get a word in edgewise and stood by, feeling quite dejected. He didn’t complain, though. From their conversation, he’d figured out that Wang Zongyao hadn’t been looking for him in the first place, but for Tang Yi. It had all just been a mix-up.

After chatting with Tang Yi for a good while, Wang Zongyao suddenly said, "Tang Yi, for tomorrow’s qualification exam, you won’t need to participate in the first or second rounds. Just showing up for the third round will be enough. I’ll make the arrangements."

"Er, won’t people gossip about that?" Tang Yi asked.

It didn’t really matter to Tang Yi whether he participated or not; he was certain he’d pass the qualification exam regardless.

Tang Yi had already heard about the procedure for the qualification exam.

The first round was a test of Power. As long as one could lift a three-hundred-jin boulder, they would pass. For Tang Yi, who had consumed countless Power Pills and Full-Attribute Pills, this was laughably easy.

He could probably lift a thousand jin with ease.

The second round was a test of endurance. One only had to withstand the pressure from a Battle Spirit Powerhouse for five minutes to pass. This was even simpler for Tang Yi. Forget withstanding a Battle Spirit Powerhouse for five minutes—he could defeat one.

Therefore, these first two rounds were completely meaningless to Tang Yi. It made no difference whether he took them or not.

As for the final round, it was practical combat, which was even more pointless. The disciples from the various Noble Families participating in the exam were mostly at the Battle Master Level. The more talented and powerful ones were, at best, Battle Grandmasters. How could any of them possibly match a Nine-Star Battle Spirit like Tang Yi?

Tang Yi was guaranteed to pass the qualification exam. There was no difficulty whatsoever.

"I’m the one arranging it, who would dare to gossip? Besides, you just need to reveal a fraction of your strength in the third round. Who would dare object then? Even if someone does, with your power, you can just beat them into submission during the third round," Wang Zongyao said, smiling at Tang Yi with absolute confidence.

The whole point of having him skip the first two rounds but not the third was to keep people from talking.

Even if people gossiped about him skipping the first two rounds, Tang Yi could use the third round to shut them up.

"You certainly have a lot of confidence in me, Uncle Wang. Alright then, I’ll leave all the arrangements to you." Hearing Wang Zongyao’s words, Tang Yi could only nod in agreement.

"Of course I have confidence in you! If I don’t have confidence in you, who could I possibly have confidence in? With your strength, Tang Yi, you could more than handle a fight with me. If I weren’t so concerned with my pride, afraid of losing to a junior like you, I’d really want to have a go with you," Wang Zongyao said huffily.

"You exaggerate, Uncle Wang. How could I possibly be your opponent?" Tang Yi said humbly.

But this remark only earned him an eye-roll from Wang Zongyao.

Wang Zongyao said scornfully, "Still pretending? You’re still keeping up the act? You took on a whole group of Battle Spirits and a Battle King all by yourself, and you did it effortlessly. That level of strength is beyond anything I can match."

"That Battle King, especially. Just facing him put me under pressure; I had no confidence I could win. But you killed him so easily. Against you, I doubt I’d last more than a few moves."

"Er." Tang Yi chuckled, unable to refute Wang Zongyao’s words. After all, Wang Zongyao knew the truth about his abilities.

Hearing that Tang Yi had such an incredible combat record, Tang Piaomiao, who was standing to the side, was utterly shocked. ’He really is the Tang Family’s number one genius now,’ he thought to himself. ’Brother Yi’s strength is truly amazing.’

Without realizing it, the way Tang Piaomiao looked at Tang Yi grew even more filled with admiration.

"Right, the third round is practical combat. With your strength, you’ll pass easily. However, I hope you only show a small part of what you can do, Tang Yi. Don’t expose too much of your power," Wang Zongyao added after a moment of thought.

"Why?" Tang Yi asked, puzzled.

"I want you to give certain people at the Headquarter a big ’surprise’ when you get there," Wang Zongyao said with a devious grin.

His old face was the very picture of cunning.

"Er." Tang Yi was speechless but nodded in agreement.

’This old fox is planning to set someone up,’ he thought. Still, Tang Yi wholeheartedly approved of Wang Zongyao’s idea.

Playing the weakling to ambush the strong... that was something he quite enjoyed doing.

The two chatted and laughed for a while longer before Tang Yi left Wang Zongyao’s residence with Tang Piaomiao. As they were leaving, however, they ran into a few young people.

Two men and two women.

Tang Yi recognized one of the pretty young women—it was Wang Zongyao’s daughter, Wang Bi’Er.

The other young woman was also very beautiful, by no means inferior to Wang Bi’Er. However, like Wang Bi’Er, she didn’t quite reach the same level as Tang Lian and Shangguan Siyu, falling just a little short.

Tang Yi had a faint impression of the other girl but couldn’t quite recall who she was.

As for the other two men, Tang Yi didn’t recognize them at all.

The four of them seemed to have just returned from somewhere.

However, while Tang Yi didn’t know them, they clearly knew him. One of the men—handsome, debonair, with fair skin, looking every bit the pretty boy—saw Tang Yi emerge from Wang Zongyao’s residence and feigned surprise. "Well, well, isn’t this the Tang Family’s own Big Waste, Tang Yi? You actually dare to come out of your house!"

The other man, dressed like a dandy, also put on a surprised expression and added, "It really is him. Brother Su, what sharp eyes. I’m impressed, truly impressed."

"Brother Fan, you flatter me," the pretty boy replied.

The two of them exchanged a few words, and after just one insult directed at Tang Yi, they immediately started flattering each other...

Wang Bi’Er, standing nearby, couldn’t stand it any longer. She shot a disgusted glance at the two "flies" beside her, quickly walked away from them, and looked at Tang Yi with a delighted smile. "Brother Tang Yi! I haven’t seen you in a few days, and you’ve gotten even more handsome!"

"Bi’Er, I haven’t seen you in a few days either, and you’ve grown even more beautiful," Tang Yi complimented her in return. He then glanced at the pretty boy and the dandy before asking Bi’Er, "Bi’Er, and these two are...?"

"Oh, this is Su Jian, a young master of the Su Family. And this is Fan Chun, a young master of the Fan Family," Wang Bi’Er said, pointing a delicate finger first at the pretty boy and then at the dandy.

After speaking, she seemed to pause, as if afraid Tang Yi might get the wrong idea. She quickly pointed to the other beautiful young woman beside her and added, "This is Zhu Yin, the apple of Uncle Zhu’s eye."

"I just arrived recently and don’t know my way around, so I asked Zhu Yin to show me around Fengyue City. We ended up running into Young Master Su and Young Master Fan on the way."
