Chapter 525 - 432: New Era: The Human Race Will Never Be Slaves
...
「Emei Ancient Sect.」
The seemingly delicate Zhou Jin was standing in an elegant rear courtyard.
Before her, a woman in a Dust-Departing Daoist Robe stood with her back to her, gazing at the fish swimming in a pond. Her expression was unreadable.
"Is there no possibility of changing your mind?" the woman asked with a sigh after tossing a handful of fish food into the pond.
"Master, if our Emei Ancient Sect doesn’t go, how will we establish ourselves in the Alliance in the future?" Zhou Jin stared straight ahead, her expression resolute.
"Do you have any idea that there are two hundred thousand soldiers in the Alien Race Alliance Army on the Northern District Battlefield? That’s two hundred thousand..." The woman shook her head, a hint of sorrow on her face.
"I know. But I also know that we have twenty million citizens in the North District!" Zhou Jin dropped to her knees before the woman. "I’m begging you, Master!!"
"Sigh..." The woman’s body trembled. In the end, she didn’t say anything more, only waved her hand. "Go... But you must remember, once you’re there, you can no longer think of yourself as a woman!"
"Yes, Master!"
"Don’t call me Master anymore. You’re grown up now. Call me Mother... There’s no one else here..."
"Mother!"
"Go. You must... you must kill as many of the alien races as you can!"
"Yes, Mother, please don’t worry!" With that, Zhou Jin turned and left. However, just as she took the final step out of the rear courtyard, she paused.
She wanted to turn back for one last look.
But in the end, she didn’t.
She just tightened her grip on her sword, her gaze fixed on the north. She watched the snowflakes drifting down from the sky, then bit her lip.
"Humanity, rise!"
...
「Western Alliance.」
「Bright Sect.」
Yi Qingge stood at the entrance of the Bright Sect’s Holy Hall. Behind him stood nearly a hundred guards in armor, every one of them with a solemn expression.
CREAK!
The great doors of the Holy Hall opened.
Yi Qinglian, dressed in a snow-white long dress, walked out.
"Sister, did the Lady Saintess agree?" The moment Yi Qingge saw Yi Qinglian, he quickly walked over to her side.
"Yes, she agreed!" Yi Qinglian nodded.
"Then let’s go." A flicker of joy crossed Yi Qingge’s face. He then muttered under his breath, "I heard Shaximo and his group already left fifteen minutes ago."
"We won’t fall behind," Yi Qinglian said, gritting her teeth.
"Of course we won’t. The glory of the West Alliance’s Yi Family will be ours to protect!" After speaking, Yi Qingge also turned to face the nearly one hundred guards. "For the Yi Family!"
"For the Yi Family!!" The hundred guards raised their blades.
"For the Bright Sect!" Yi Qingge shouted again.
"For the Bright Sect!!" The hundred guards raised their blades again.
"For the Alliance!"
"For the Alliance!!"
"Move out!"
"Move out!!"
"Move out..."
...
...
「Underground City.」
Yutian looked at the Dragon List Geniuses and Zhang Hongying, who was dressed in an instructor’s uniform, standing before him.
His fists were clenched tightly. He knew very well that every person before him was one of the Alliance’s top-tier super geniuses.
Originally, they were supposed to stay in the Underground City for a while longer, perhaps even until the war began a year from now.
But now, Yutian knew he could no longer keep them in the Underground City.
"Lin Ying, you’re about to reach the Tier Six Late Stage. In just another month, you might break through to a high tier. Do you really have to go to the battlefield now?"
"Yes!" Lin Ying nodded.
"Wang Jun, you’re also about to reach the Tier Six Late Stage. You..."
"Yes, Lord Governor!" Wang Jun interrupted Yutian.
Yutian wanted to ask more, but he didn’t. He just let out a heavy sigh. "After all, you can’t grow the most beautiful flowers in a greenhouse. You want to leave, and I support you! Go! Let the alien races in the north know the will and determination of our Human Race!"
"Humanity, rise!"
"Humanity, rise!"
...
...
「Eastern District Fortress.」
Shen Ning’Er, dressed in a black military uniform, walked past rows of soldiers. On her shoulder were four stars, glittering with golden light.
She was the Alliance’s youngest Major General, and also its youngest Deputy Division Commander.
Two rows of soldiers watched Shen Ning’Er.
Their gazes were filled with respect.
"Salute!"
"Deputy Division Commander Shen!"
...
Shen Ning’Er continued forward, eventually arriving before a large military tent.
Two guards stood in front of the tent. Upon seeing Shen Ning’Er, they exchanged a glance and silently lifted the tent flap.
"Thank you." Shen Ning’Er nodded to the two guards and strode into the tent.
"You’re here?" Inside the tent, an old man with graying temples looked up. His eyes were deep and profound, but when he saw Shen Ning’Er, an undeniable light of affection shone from their depths.
"Yes," Shen Ning’Er nodded.
"When are you leaving?" the old man asked again.
"Immediately," Shen Ning’Er replied.
"If you can’t bring your second uncle back alive, then you must at least bring back his body." The old man’s fingers trembled slightly.
"Alright." Shen Ning’Er turned, preparing to leave.
"Ning’Er, don’t you want to ask why I still sent your second uncle when I clearly could have sent someone else?" the old man hesitated for a moment before finally asking.
"Because the people of the Shen Family are always the ones charging at the very front of the battlefield!" Shen Ning’Er stopped but did not turn around.
"That’s right. In the past, I’ve never once asked you about your personal feelings. But today, Grandfather wants to ask you something. Ning’Er, do you want to marry him?" The old man looked at Shen Ning’Er’s back, his tone gradually softening, all of his earlier authority gone.
"Yes," Shen Ning’Er nodded.
"Then bring him back from the battlefield with you. Because he is worthy of being the husband of my Shen Family’s granddaughter!" The old man’s expression inexplicably relaxed.
"I will, Grandpa!" After saying this, Shen Ning’Er walked straight out of the tent.
’...’ The old man watched Shen Ning’Er leave, the corners of his mouth twitching involuntarily. His hands fell heavily to his sides. ’Ning’Er, what I really wanted to say was... for you to bring yourself back...’
Outside the tent, Shen Ning’Er tilted her head back.
’Grandpa, don’t you worry. I won’t die, Second Uncle won’t die, and Gao Neng definitely won’t die!’ After thinking this, she strode away.
...
「Military Department.」
「Supreme Command Center.」
This place housed the Alliance’s most advanced surveillance and control equipment, known as the Alliance SkyNet.
Li Tiannan, Sword Elder, Qin Jianfei, and others were sitting in chairs. On the screen before them were a young man and a young woman standing on the back of a Flying Earth Dragon.
"They’re almost at the border of the North District."
"If we stop them now, we might still have time."
"Elder Li..."
"Master," Qin Jianfei said, looking at Sword Elder beside him.
As the current Commander-in-Chief of the Military Department, he knew the predicament the entire Alliance was facing. He was also well aware of the grief the Supreme Council felt when they made their previous decision.
"Jianfei, if Li Tiannan and I weren’t here, what decision would you make?" Sword Elder didn’t look at Qin Jianfei, his eyes still fixed on the screen.
"I probably... wouldn’t stop them!" Qin Jianfei paused for a moment, then answered with certainty.
"Why?" Sword Elder finally turned his gaze to Qin Jianfei. "Gao Neng has the ability to enhance materials, and he can also refine the best pills. Either of these abilities could change the future of humanity. If he dies on the battlefield, does humanity still have hope?"
"Yes!" Qin Jianfei replied again.
"Oh? Tell me your reasoning." Sword Elder’s eyes lit up slightly.
"Because he has already ignited the Alliance’s will to fight. If he survives, that will to fight will never be extinguished. If he dies, that will to fight will transform into a seed of hope. Even if the Human Race is defeated a year from now and loses the City of Hope, we still won’t be annihilated!"
"Well said!" Sword Elder stood up. "A new era has arrived. The future path belongs to them. As long as the next generation of the Human Race has the will to fight in their hearts, then the Human Race can never be annihilated, and we can never be conquered by the alien races! Humanity will never be enslaved!"
"Master, should we send people to protect..."
"Old Li, what do you say? This is your precious disciple we’re talking about!" Sword Elder waved his hand, turning his gaze to the silent Li Tiannan.
"Protect my ass! The kid quietly churned out over a hundred Tier-8 gene weapons. He needs protection? Who the hell is more badass than him right now?!" Li Tiannan cursed resentfully.
"But his own strength is still a bit too weak, only at the Tier Six Late Stage. And if the news from the City of Hope gets out, what if the alien races..."
"You’re the Commander-in-Chief of the Military Department. If you can’t even lock down the news for a few days, then I don’t think you should be the Commander-in-Chief!" Li Tiannan waved his hand again.
"Understood. Jianfei will see to it immediately!"
"Mm." Li Tiannan nodded, then beckoned to someone nearby. "Get me the communications relay station in the Underground City."
"Are you trying to reach Governor Yun?" an officer asked.
"No, get me Dr. Lan from the gene weapon research lab." Li Tiannan shook his head.
"Yes, sir!" The officer immediately turned to leave.
A moment later, the officer returned with an old-fashioned communication device.
"Li Tiannan here," Li Tiannan said as he took the device.
"Hello, Elder Li. This is Lan Ruohua." Dr. Lan’s voice came from the device.
"Exactly how many Tier-8 gene weapons did Gao Neng cobble together in the research lab?" Li Tiannan asked casually upon hearing her voice.
"A conservative estimate would be around ten, I suppose. I’m not entirely sure about the specifics because he didn’t let me participate in the final synthesis experiments. He said something about needing to do some ’marking.’ However, over the past month, he’s used up all the materials the Alliance allocated to the lab."
"Ten? Have you not been watching the news?!"
"What news? I never watch the news, you know that, Elder Li..."
"That’s a very bad habit of yours. You can’t just reinvent the wheel in your lab all day. When you should be watching the news, you need to watch the news!"
"Yes, you’re right to criticize me, Elder Li. I’ll go watch the news right now."
"Watch the news my ass! First, answer my question. How many ’hands’ did he make in the lab? I mean, count every single hand he made!"
"’Hands’? Well... there were probably over two hundred of them. But based on the success rate for Tier-8 gene weapons, that would only yield ten units at most..."
"What do you mean, ten units? I’m telling you, Gao Neng made a hundred! One hundred Tier-8 gene weapons... Son of a bitch, and he only made two hundred-some hands? Don’t tell me that brat’s success rate for making Tier-8 gene weapons is also 100%?!"
"Huh?!" Dr. Lan’s horrified voice came from the device.
CLICK!
The connection was cut.
Li Tiannan looked up at the two figures on the screen again. "The new generation surpasses the old. A one hundred percent success rate for making gene weapons... A new era has truly arrived!"
