Chapter 449: Battle For The Crown I ( PS Bonus - )
Rindo also stood up and Seraphina pulled her sword out of its sheath.
Selina also walked with them and Liana raised her hand and the Silver-Crowned Griffin flew around in the sky.
Ethan, Marcus and Cassian were also ready.
"I’ll go straight for Rodrick, hold back the rest of his people." But Lian looked at them before moving.
Then lightning wrapped around his legs.
[Thunder Step]
Boom!
The stone under his feet exploded and his body shot toward the mountain path.
His arrival quickly caught the attention of Rodrick’s people and four students separated from the second line to fight him.
One was Level 29, one 31, another 32 and the strongest was 34, they stood directly in the middle of the bridge.
The Level 34 student held a heavy shield in his hand and stepped forward first.
"Vorhelm! It ends here!" he shouted and held his shield in front of his body.
Lian did not even slow down, the man lowered his shield and activated his defensive skill.
A golden layer formed on the surface of the shield.
But young Vorhelm pulled his right fist back, he did not activate any big skill and only used his physical strength.
Boom!
His fist hit the center of the shield and the sound of the impact was like a heavy cart crashing into a wall.
The golden layer broke immediately and the shield bent inward, the student’s body left the ground and was thrown ten meters back.
His Protective Seal activated before he hit the stone and he was eliminated.
The other three froze for a fraction of a second, this was not the result they had expected, at least not this quickly.
Lian passed through the place where the man had been standing and the second person attacked from the left.
His blade came close to Lian’s neck but he only moved his head a few centimeters and the sword passed beside his head.
His elbow came up.
Clack!
It hit the center of the attacker’s chest directly and his Protective Seal immediately lit up.
The second elimination happened as well.
The two remaining people attacked at the same time.
"Damn it, together!"
One from the front and one from the right, but Lian disappeared from their sight.
[Thunder Step]
Krrrack!
Lightning exploded between them and he appeared beside the person on the right, the shoulder of the World-Devourer Bastion hit the man’s body directly.
Boom!
The student was thrown several meters into the air like a broken doll, his Protective Seal activated and the third elimination happened as well.
The last person did not even have time to move back and when he turned around, young Vorhelm’s fist was in front of his face.
[Thunder Calamity]
Blue and purple light wrapped around the armor plates.
"Wait—"
Boom!
His Protective Seal activated before he could finish the sentence.
Four people had been eliminated in less than ten seconds and Lian had not stopped even once.
The people from Rodrick’s group who had seen this scene from higher up stayed silent for a few moments, some of them had only heard before that this boy was Level 23.
But what kind of Level 23 was this? This looked like at least Level 37! Where had this monster come from?
Now for the first time they understood how meaningless this number could be, against geniuses, Level could become meaningless.
"Stop him!" someone shouted.
Seven more people started moving but Lian did not even look at them and only said calmly.
"Rindo."
"Got it." The voice of the Student Council President came from behind.
Boom!
Kain passed one of the attackers and punched him hard in the face.
Seraphina entered from the other side and Selina, Ethan, Marcus and Cassian also arrived behind them.
In a few seconds, the path behind Lian turned into another battlefield.
"Go! We got these guys! Go kick that bastard’s ass! Don’t forget to get my revenge too!" Kain shouted.
Young Vorhelm continued along his path, only one person was left between him and Rodrick.
Elena saw him.
From the moment the first four people were eliminated in less than ten seconds, her eyes had not left Lian.
More people wanted to move forward, but Rindo’s group stopped them, so the path was almost open.
The girl lowered her hand, the mana strands around her disappeared, she took one step forward and then jumped down from the eastern platform.
She landed on the stairs above her former fiancé.
Clack!
Young Vorhelm slowed down a little, just enough to leave a few meters of distance between them.
Elena looked directly at him, her breathing was a little heavy and there was a small wound on her cheek, but she still had enough mana for thin lines of light to form around her fingers again.
"Stop right here." She said calmly.
Lian looked at her for a few seconds, there was no anger from the past in his eyes, nor regret, in fact there was nothing but calmness in his eyes, as if they were from two different worlds and had nothing to do with each other.
Elena saw this calmness and for a reason she herself did not want to understand, it hurt her more than any insult.
"Lian...you don’t have to do this—"
A footstep behind Lian cut her off, Seraphina passed beside him with her sword in her right hand.
Her hair moved with the mountain wind and her eyes were fixed directly on her.
"She is mine." And she said without even looking at him.
"This is between me and him, don’t interfere." Elena’s eyebrows came together slightly.
"What do you mean this is between you and him? Your relationship is over!... You already made your choice, did you forget? There is nothing left between you! This is only the final-term test now!"
A few seconds of silence formed between the two girls and the mana around Elena became stronger.
"What? Are you upset? Your turn is over, so just do your job." Seraphina took another step forward.
"Move." Elena gave Lian a short look and then looked at her again.
"No."
Just one word, but it was so cold and firm that it left no room for anything else to be said.
Young Vorhelm looked at them for a few moments and then passed by his childhood friend.
"Don’t take too long." He said while going up the stairs and the corner of the girl’s lips rose very slightly.
"You too."
Elena wanted to move.
Slash!
Seraphina’s blade blocked her path and mana sparks spread between them.
Lian did not look behind him again.
[08:47]
𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
He reached the last step and put his foot on the upper platform, the wind was stronger at this height.
Black clouds moved hundreds of meters below and all the islands looked much smaller from here.
Rodrick was standing on the other side of the platform.
Alone.
There was no human wall between the two of them, the Crown was in his left hand and its red light still reached into the sky.
His armor was torn in several places and dried blood could be seen on his eyebrow.
His left forearm was injured and his breathing was no longer completely calm, his mana was also clearly lower than it had been at the beginning of the battle.
But he stood straight, his shoulders back, his chin raised and the same proud look he always had.
He was neither broken nor afraid and when young Vorhelm stepped onto the platform, Rodrick slowly turned his head toward him.
Neither of them spoke for a few seconds and the sounds of the battles below the mountain could be heard from far away and unclear.
"You finally came, I thought you quit the test yourself because you were afraid to face me." The young Ashen’s voice was more tired than before, but it was still calm and confident.
"I wasn’t in a hurry, maybe I would hurry to kill a cockroach, but nobody is in a hurry to kill an ant." Lian took another step forward.
Rodrick gave the timer a short look.
[08:39]
"An ant? ... Pfft, haha, this was your mistake, you think because you were lucky enough to become an Awakener, you have surpassed me? This is a dream you will take to your grave, I am the King and I will remain the King!" He laughed loudly and then said
"These days they look at you with fear, but are you anything more than a coward? You waited for the rest of my people to become tired and came up when you thought it was the best time, do you know what I call this? The behavior of a coward!" Disgust filled his voice.
"But you know, at least you know when to use your brain, you know you can’t defeat me at my peak, so you wanted to fight my weakened version...but this is your second mistake, even in my weakest state I will defeat you."
"I don’t call it fear, I call it strategy, besides, aren’t you ashamed that a Level 23 Awakener has become a threat to you at all? You’re only one step away from your Second Evolution." Lian laughed and pointed out an obvious fact.
Rodrick frowned, because the words were not wrong, the fact that a Level 23 was considered a threat to him was already ridiculous.
"Anyway, enough nonsense, I didn’t come for the Crown, Rodrick, I came to see if when there is no army between us, you can still call yourself the King or not." Young Vorhelm finally added.
