I Can Fish Up Everything!

"Boss, aren’t we asking An Jun and the others to join us tonight?" Yi Chen asked in confusion after they left, sitting on the back of Gu Nan’s electric scooter.

"Another time. It’s just the two of us tonight."

’He’d just treated them to a meal that cost nearly six thousand, and he had to treat people again tomorrow. He’d probably have to arrange some relaxing entertainment for tomorrow night too, which would be another several thousand, maybe even over ten thousand.’

’So he felt he’d been spending too much these past two days and should rein it in a bit.’

Yi Chen, oblivious to his thoughts, assumed he just wanted to have dinner alone with her. A small, shy smile touched her lips as she wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned against him.

"Hiss—" Gu Nan sucked in a sharp breath. ’I was careless and got ambushed. As expected of a girl raised by her grandma.’

He drove around for a bit, wondering where he should take Yi Chen for dinner.

’Initially, he’d planned to just find some random place to eat, but after she hugged him, he felt tonight’s dinner couldn’t be so casual.’

’Getting Japanese food at Zhao Jie’s place would have been nice, but that was in Bazhou City, which was a bit far, and he hadn’t bought a car yet.’

’There didn’t seem to be any decent restaurants in Yangjiang Port. Even Taste Tongue, where they’d eaten in the afternoon, was in Bazhou City proper.’

"Boss, where are we going to eat?"

"I don’t know either. I can’t think of a suitable place. How about steak?"

"I’m good with anything!"

Hearing her say that, Gu Nan went straight to the best-rated steakhouse in Yangjiang Port.

The set meals were between three and five hundred yuan, which was on the pricier side, but the quality of the steak was decent. It wasn’t utility-grade beef or reconstituted meat.

Yi Chen saw the prices on the menu and hesitated, but then she remembered that with her current income, she could afford to treat him back without any issue. So, she confidently ordered the set meal she wanted.

After dinner, Gu Nan dropped Yi Chen off at home and headed to Fisherman’s Wharf.

The wind and waves were even calmer than last night. Although he had received a notification on his phone today warning of an approaching typhoon and advising against going out to sea, he still had to use up his daily guaranteed-catch chances for the night and complete his daily quests.

Considering Junhao Hotel might start sourcing several types of seafood from him, Gu Nan first steered his boat toward Sanlian Reef. After nearly finishing his daily quests there, he would head directly to fish for species from the Fengqi Coast.

Seven-Star Rock had only just been unlocked. Not only had he not unlocked many entries in the compendium for it, but the green-tier gear set just wasn’t good enough.

’It would be better to catch a large quantity of seafood from the Fengqi Coast. Without sufficient volume, why would anyone partner with him?’

He spent about an hour completing four daily quests but once again failed to unlock a four-star compendium entry.

However, he did unlock a type of flounder called the Double-Pupil Flounder. It was a left-eyed flounder native to the waters of northeastern Australia.

It was a one-star fish. They weren’t very large, growing to a maximum of forty centimeters, with an average weight of about a pound.

Its flavor rating was quite high, though, at five and a half stars. The flesh was excellent and could be Steamed or braised, but it was even better sliced for seafood congee, as it was extremely nutritious.

The price, however, wasn’t high at all; the game’s suggested retail price was only sixty yuan.

That evening, Gu Nan came across a fish hotspot and caught thirty-seven of them. He went ahead and arranged for them to be shipped.

He then immediately steered the boat to a fishing spot on the Fengqi Coast. He didn’t know if he’d be able to go out to sea tomorrow, so today he was going to try his luck at catching an Indian marlin.

The only one in his refrigerated hold was under 220 pounds. While he could make do with it, he still wanted to earn a bit more.

The 5% recovery ability was very useful. Although it mainly restored stamina, his arms—sore and weak from fishing in the early morning—had already mostly recovered by the evening. Challenging an Indian marlin wouldn’t be a problem.

Arriving at the fishing spot, Gu Nan anchored his boat and took out the purple Fengqi Fishing Rod.

He hadn’t used today’s ten all-map guaranteed-catch chances on the Seven-Star Rock map. He needed to catch a large number of elite fish, so for the time being, he would be using his daily chances on the Fengqi Coast map.

He tied on a metal jig, gently cast his line, and waited for the lure to sink to the bottom.

Bottom fishing made it easier to catch groupers, lobsters, and even giant Sri Lankan mud crabs. It was highly likely that Junhao Hotel would be interested in this kind of seafood.

He used a guaranteed-catch chance. After about ten seconds, he felt a strange tug. Gu Nan’s eyes lit up. ’A giant mud crab?’

He went for broke, yanking the rod upward with all his might.

When using a guaranteed-catch chance, the hook was guaranteed to set firmly.

Giant mud crabs weren’t hard to reel in; this one only struggled for a short while before being hauled up.

Once it was pulled off the seafloor, the rest was easy.

Feeling the pull—which had felt like he was snagged on the bottom—disappear, Gu Nan immediately began reeling in the line at high speed.

A short while later, a huge giant Sri Lankan mud crab appeared on the surface of the water.

’Oho, it’s even bigger than the biggest one he’d caught before.’

Gu Nan scooped it up with a landing net and transferred it to the aquarium. He then glanced at the compendium. As expected, it was King-tier in size, definitely weighing over seven pounds.

’Sweet. That’s almost three thousand yuan in the bank.’

Compared to fish, the mud crabs were actually easier to sell. Ever since he sold the previous two, many people had been asking him for more, but he had put them all off with the excuse that his stock was "still in transit."

He cast his line again, this time catching a Tai Star Garoupa of around twenty pounds.

’Though it was only Giant-tier, it was still pretty good. It seemed that when using a guaranteed-catch chance with the purple fishing rod, the catches were Giant-tier at a minimum.’

As time went by, he quickly used up all twenty-five of his guaranteed-catch chances.

The purple set’s 15% increased hook rate for elite seafood was clearly effective. Today, he had caught eleven pieces of elite seafood, including three giant Sri Lankan mud crabs, all of which were over five pounds.

He had also caught two Rose Dragons, also both over five pounds.
