Chapter 400 - 395: Sui Zhi Ancestor Activates the Face Fruit Ability
The Memory Stone was activated, emitting a soft, warm glow.
"Name?"
"Sui Xiao."
"Age?"
"Eighteen."
"Cultivation?"
"Qi Cultivation Fourth Layer."

"To be at the Qi Cultivation Middle Stage at such a young age... you clearly have a bright future. But with a cultivation level this low, itâs hard to accomplish much on the front lines. Itâs puzzling. So, why exactly did you come here?"
"I got into trouble at home and was exiled by my family. I have to earn enough GPA before Iâm allowed to go back."
"Which family?"
"The Sui Family of Ruihan City."
"Oh, so youâre that Sui Xiao."
After saying this, the Foundation Establishment Late Stage Cultivator in charge of interrogating Du Youqian paused, scrutinizing him.
He was a Direct Disciple of Lu Yao Master, who trusted him deeply.
He was often seen by Lu Yao Masterâs side, standing guard, handling miscellaneous tasks, and relaying the Masterâs verbal commands.
"Someone said you were the one who gave Qi Hengliang that pot of Spirit Wine that poisoned him. Is that true?" When he spoke again, his tone was much gentler. It was less like an interrogation and more like a chat.
Du Youqian figured he was probably one of the people influenced by Sui Zhi Ancestorâs financial clout.
âHe probably knew my name long ago and was planning to give me some special treatment at some point.â
"Senior, thatâs not entirely accurate," Du Youqian said with a slight smile. "The truth is, he snatched it from me. Qi Hengliang and I never got along. He was quite resentful of my background. When the supplies were distributed that day, he mocked me, saying Iâd never killed a member of the Demon Race and hadnât contributed to the war effort, so I didnât deserve to enjoy fine wine. Then he snatched the pot of wine that was allocated to me. I ask that Senior investigates this clearly!"
"So thatâs what happened."
Du Youqian added, "I only had that pot of wine in my hands for a few moments. I never left the area, nor did I put it into my Storage Treasure Pouch. Everyone who was present can testify to this."
"I understand," the other man nodded. "You may go back for now and await the results of the investigation. Donât worry, we wonât frame an innocent person, nor will we let a guilty one escape."
"Then I can rest assured."
"By the way, you should be careful. If everything youâve said is true, then itâs reasonable to assume the poisoner was targeting you."
"Iâve considered that as well. I even know whoâs trying to harm me. If youâre so inclined, Senior, you could find out for yourself. The matters concerning me are no secret." Du Youqian smiled, stood up, and bowed to the man.
A few pieces of Spiritual Jade fell from his sleeve, landing in a blind spot of the Memory Stone.
Du Youqian pretended not to notice and walked away.
After he left, the man scooped up the Spiritual Jade from the table and smiled with satisfaction.
âA kid this sensible couldnât possibly be a bad person!â

The members of Bingchou Squad became even more hostile toward Du Youqian.
This was despite the fact they had all seen with their own eyes that Du Youqian had done nothing to tamper with the wine.
But no one elseâs wine was poisoned, only Du Youqianâs. The poisoner had clearly been targeting him, and Qi Hengliang had simply taken the fall for him.
Du Youqian had never even been on the battlefield and had no real relationship with any of them.
As for Qi Hengliang, while some people disliked him, others had fought alongside him on the battlefield, forging a bond. This latter group naturally gave Du Youqian the cold shoulder.
Du Youqian didnât care.
âIâm not a piece of Spiritual Jade. I canât make everyone like me.â
Bingchou Squad was just a place for him to lie low for a while. He was merely a passerby here, so why force himself to make friends?
âIf they want to be hostile, so be it.â
When the Immortal City Alliance was serious about investigating something, finding the truth was only a matter of time.
There was no problem that couldnât be solved with Divine Abilities and Magic. If there was, it just meant the Divine Abilities and Magic werenât sophisticated enough.
And if they werenât sophisticated enough, it didnât matter. If a Core Formation Cultivator couldnât solve it, there was always a Nascent Soul Master.
Thus, after a thorough investigation, a Qi Cultivation Cultivator responsible for odd jobs in logistics soon committed suicide out of fear of punishment.
That Qi Cultivation Cultivator was over a hundred years old and didnât have many years left to live anyway.
Although the trail went cold there, the situation was already quite clear.
Anyone with discerning eyes knew that this "Sui Xiao" was a greenhorn who had only been at the front for a few months. He hadnât had time to make any enemies, so it had to be a grudge from his past catching up to him.
A little more digging revealed who else would target "Sui Xiao" besides the Bian and Rong Families of Ruihan City.
The case was more or less closed at that point. The Bian and Rong Families, each backed by a Core Formation Master, wouldnât be held accountable for such a minor incident.
After all, they had merely bribed a low-level logistics cultivator, and the poison had only targeted "Sui Xiao." They had shown restraint.
Du Youqian had long expected this outcome. He never hoped the Immortal City Alliance would seek justice for him.
âSo-called justice is something people will serve you on a silver platter, as long as youâre strong enough.â
âIf youâre not strong enough, people will just look away. No one cares about whatâs just or not.â
âThe cornerstone of the Human Raceâs society isnât justice; itâs its powerful Cultivators.â
âWithout justice, the Human Race wonât be destroyed.â
âWithout powerful Cultivators, the Human Race would have been wiped out by the Demon Race long ago.â
âSo, which is more important?â
âThe answer is obvious.â
After this assassination attempt, Du Youqian became even more vigilant.
Their first plot had failed, which meant the next attack would only be more ferocious.
He privately speculated that the Rong and Bian Families would pull some strings to have him transferred to the front lines, hoping to use the Demon Race to eliminate him.
It was an overt scheme, one that was impossible to thwart.
But nothing happened. Another two months passed, and he remained carefree in the rear, occasionally doing odd jobs in the Alchemy Room and spending most of his time on his own Cultivation.
âAll I can say is, Sui Zhi Ancestorâs Face Fruit ability is truly powerful!â
Du Youqianâs Cultivation had already reached the Qi Cultivation Seventh Layer, entering the Qi Cultivation Late Stage. He wasnât far from the Eighth Layer.
Sui Zhi Ancestor constantly sent people with Elixirs and Spiritual Jade, and the message was always the same: "Focus on your Cultivation. The Ancestor will take care of everything."
As time went on, Du Youqian inevitably let his guard down a little.
After all, with his steadily increasing Cultivation, he could handle another attack from the Rong and Bian Families. He no longer needed to be on edge all day.

ăThe Demon Race Front Lineă
A Tier Three Howling Moon Silver Wolf King swaggered into the tent. Addressing the Tier Three Golden Silk Green-eyed Ape King seated at the head, he said, "Monkey, you called us all here. Is it something important? Donât tell me itâs just for a feast."
"Of course itâs important. Be patient."
One after another, the Long-tailed Pheasant King, the Golden-Spotted Black Panther King, and the Three-tailed Blue Fox King arrived. Only then did the Golden Silk Green-eyed Ape King speak. "Iâve received news. They say thereâs a Celestial Spirit Root genius on the Human Raceâs side, only at the Qi Cultivation Fourth Layer. Heâs been sent to the battlefield to experience its atmosphere and learn how to fight."
"A Celestial Spirit Root?" The Long-tailed Pheasant King flapped its wings forcefully. "Kill him!"
A Celestial Spirit Root Human Race Cultivator meant that the Immortal City Alliance would have another Core Formation Master in fifty to sixty years. It was very likely that in two or three hundred years, a Nascent Soul Cultivator would emerge.
There was even a small chance that in a thousand years, the Immortal City Alliance would gain a Divinity Transformation Great Power, shifting the balance of power at the highest levels.
Naturally, such a threat had to be nipped in the bud.
On the Demon Raceâs side, whenever they learned of the appearance of a Human Race Cultivator with an Earth Spirit Root or a Celestial Spirit Root, they would often pay a great price to eliminate them.
But such situations were rare. Firstly, cultivators with Earth or Celestial Spirit Roots didnât grow on trees. Across the entire Immortal City Alliance, with its more than one hundred Immortal Cities, a cultivator with an Earth Spirit Root or better would only appear once every decade or so. Celestial Spirit Roots were even rarer.
Secondly, the Human Race cherished its geniuses. They would never send cultivators with Earth or Celestial Spirit Roots to die on the battlefield while they were still weak.
"But why would a Celestial Spirit Root Cultivator be sent to the battlefield? Is the information reliable?" the Three-tailed Blue Fox King asked, being more cautious. "If itâs really a Celestial Spirit Root, we must kill him, of course. But what if this is a trap set by the enemy? We have to be on guard."
"The fox is right," the Howling Moon Silver Wolf King agreed.
The Golden Silk Green-eyed Ape King scratched its neck. "I also thought the news was unreliable, since the ones who deliberately leaked it to us arenât the usual families we deal with. But because it involves a Celestial Spirit Root Cultivator, I took it very seriously. I had my little monkeys make contact with that family to gather more information. And guess what they found out?"
"What did they find out?"
A triumphant look appeared on the Golden Silk Green-eyed Ape Kingâs face. "The Celestial Spirit Root Cultivator is real. And he really is at the Qi Cultivation Fourth Layer. But he wasnât sent to the battlefield to âexperience its atmosphere.â He was exiled here after offending someone."
"Kill him!" the Long-tailed Pheasant King screeched, stretching its neck.
But the Three-tailed Blue Fox had a different concern. "How can you be sure the information your little monkeys dug up isnât false intel deliberately leaked by the Human Race?"
"Several Perfect Foundation Establishment Cultivators swore an oath on their Heart Demons."
The Golden-Spotted Black Panther then asked, "Does that Celestial Spirit Root have a Guardian?"
"He does, but theyâre only at Foundation Establishment," the Golden Silk Green-eyed Ape King answered affirmatively.
The Demon Kings looked at one another.
The Long-tailed Pheasant King squawked again, "Kill... kill... kill him!"
The Three-tailed Blue Fox King and the Howling Moon Silver Wolf King both nodded. "Itâs worth a try."
The Golden-Spotted Black Panther asked, "Ape King, we can make a move, but whatâs your plan?"
"Weâll each dispatch our elite Tier Two kin to form a team. Our contact will use a âDemon-Hiding Vaseâ to sneak them in, and theyâll directly assassinate that little Celestial Spirit Root whelp."
"Weâre not deploying any Tier Three Demon Kings?"
The Golden Silk Green-eyed Ape King stood up. "My grandson will lead the team personally."
