Chapter 461 - 227: A Turbulent Age Looms, Chaos Has Begun
Zhao Rui was in the middle of eating his noodles when he saw what was happening. With a casual wave of his hand, a surge of True Qi billowed out, nudging the falling man’s trajectory to one side.
With a yelp, the man landed flat on his face and let out a miserable cry.
The man’s Martial Arts were clearly terrible.
The woman’s performance, however, exceeded Zhao Rui’s expectations. ’I figured she was just some reckless girl who didn’t know any better, but it turns out she actually has some real skill.’
’Unfortunately, even a mighty dragon can’t crush a local snake.’
’Unless one’s Martial Arts reach a transformative level, no amount of skill can overcome sheer numbers.’
The man scrambled up from the ground, looking disheveled, and charged headfirst toward one of the desert bandits without a moment’s hesitation.
"Damn it, what a noisy pretty boy."
The bandit was furious. Seeing that this man’s Martial Arts were so pathetic—even worse than his woman’s—he felt nothing but contempt.
Seeing him charge over, the bandit swung his large hand, ready to send him flying with a single slap.
But things didn’t go as planned. Just as he got close, the man’s foot caught on something, and he "unleashed" a long-lost ultimate technique from the Jianghu: the "Flat Falling Goose Technique."
He face-planted, not only dodging the bandit’s slap but also managing to jab a hand right into the bandit’s weak spot below the belt.
No matter how skilled the bandit was, he hadn’t taken this man seriously at all. He never imagined he’d be brought down by such an amateur move.
With a yelp of pain, he instinctively doubled over.
In a battle between masters, there is no room for the slightest mistake.
The seven-man formation had been evenly matched with the woman, but with this bandit suddenly out of position, a glaring flaw was exposed.
This woman was no damsel in distress. Seeing her chance, a vicious glint flashed in her eyes. She thrust out a palm, then spun and followed up with a heavy, powerful elbow strike that sent the out-of-position bandit flying backward, spitting blood.
With the seven-man formation broken, the remaining six were no match for the woman.
Her movements bold and decisive, she made short work of the six men, knocking them all to the ground.
The bald man with the wide nose turned pale with fright at the sight and scrambled to turn and flee.
How could the woman let him escape? In a few quick strides, she vaulted over tables and chairs, leaped into the air, and kicked him into the main entrance, shattering the door.
But that same kick sent the bald man flying out of the restaurant. He ignored the pain and immediately took off running for his life.
Seeing their leader run, the other bandits didn’t dare to linger. They scrambled to escape through the windows, scattering in all directions.
The woman was about to give chase, but her boyfriend scrambled to his feet and stopped her.
"Don’t go! It’s too dangerous. Let’s just get out of here."
The man’s face was ashen.
"Are you okay?"
the woman asked with concern, her eyes scanning him up and down. She added, a hint of amusement in her voice, "It’s all thanks to you. Otherwise, I would have had a much harder time with them. Honey, you might actually have a talent for Martial Arts."
Hearing this, the man’s face twisted in misery. He grabbed the woman’s arm, desperate to leave.
But before they could take a step, the other diners in the restaurant rushed to the entrance, menacingly blocking their path.
"You can’t leave! If you go, they’ll come back looking for you, and they’ll take it out on us!"
"That’s right! You wanted to play the hero, so you have to see it through. You can’t just leave."
"We have to do business along this route! You can’t go. If you leave, what’s going to happen to us?"
The angry mob left the young couple stunned. The woman flew into a rage. "You sons of bitches," she snarled, "you think I’m some kind of pushover?"
She looked ready to fight, but the man quickly grabbed his hot-headed girlfriend. "Let’s just call the Patrol," he said.
With that, the two of them backed away slightly, and the man immediately dialed the number for the Patrol.
The call connected quickly, and the man rapidly explained what had happened.
The person on the other end immediately said they would dispatch a Patrol unit.
They told the couple to wait patiently.
With the Patrol’s promise, the man relaxed considerably. He took his girlfriend’s hand and said reassuringly, "The Patrol will be here in a bit. Don’t worry."
"Worried? My ass. You’re the one who needs to stop being scared. I’m right here."
Seeing that the couple wasn’t trying to leave anymore, the people blocking the entrance let out a collective sigh of relief. They started moving stools to block the door and windows, settling in to guard them.
"What a bunch of assholes."
the woman cursed, her chest heaving with rage.
The minutes ticked by. About ten minutes later, the hum of approaching engines filled the air. There were at least seven or eight vehicles.
The man jumped to his feet, his face full of anticipation. "Is that the Patrol? Great! We can finally get out of this godforsaken place."
"Why aren’t their sirens on?"
The man had barely voiced his confusion when a crowd of men and women, dressed just like the earlier group, suddenly stormed through the entrance.
Each of them brandished a sharp weapon as they poured in, their presence overwhelming.
A few of the diners near the door, unable to dodge in time, were kicked aside and sent sprawling.
"Sirs, they were trying to leave! We’re the ones who stopped them!"
A shifty-eyed man bowed obsequiously, sidling up to the newcomers and speaking in a fawning tone.
"Get the hell out of my way."
The bandit in the lead kicked him aside and strode directly over to the young couple with his men.
"Is it them?"
the bandit leader asked, tilting his head.
"Boss, that’s them,"
the bald man who had escaped earlier said, puffing out his chest. He pointed at the young couple and added with a cold snort,
"Playing the hero, are we? Calling the Patrol? You didn’t even stop to consider where you are, did you? This is a lawless zone. Who do you think dares to mess with us here?"
The bandit leader nodded. He sized up the young couple, a grotesque smirk playing on his lips. "So she’s got some moves. I bet she’s a lot more fun than your average woman. You’re a lucky man, pretty boy."
