Chapter 529 - 261: A Copyable Cultivation Technique?
The universe is vast, so naturally, its lifeforms are bizarre and varied. Blue Star alone boasts countless species, from microorganisms invisible to the naked eye to colossal Exotic Beasts the size of mountains. The diversity is immense.
To say nothing of the even more vast and boundless cosmos.
Zhao Rui was quite calm. He had never seen such creatures before, but as long as they were living beings capable of thought, they weren’t anything particularly special.
The big-headed creature, Adolf, who was leading the way, was top-heavy and wobbled as he walked, as if on a trampoline.
The surrounding creatures, from hulking, powerful giants to strange beings radiating an eerie power, all recoiled from him without exception, clearing a path as if he were a venomous snake.
"Heh heh, so very polite of them!"
Adolf smirked, glancing back at the man in white and raising an eyebrow.
The man in white’s legs went weak with fear. Despite wielding the profound Light Power, he felt as if needles were pricking his back, utterly terrified.
"Look at all this delicious food! What would you like to eat? Oh, young man, your life form is very special. What does your race eat? Meat? Plants? Or perhaps minerals?"
Adolf was clearly unfamiliar with Zhao Rui’s life form, and his words were tinged with curiosity.
"Anything works,"
Zhao Rui said coolly.
"Oh? Such a good appetite. You must come from a very formidable race!"
Adolf chuckled and pointed casually. A moment later, a robot appeared at a service window.
"Describe what you wish to eat. They will prepare it for you."
Before Adolf had even finished speaking, a roar echoed from nearby.
Zhao Rui looked toward the sound and saw a four-headed monster carrying an enormous platter.
On the platter was a braised head, drenched in gravy.
The roar hadn’t come from the four-headed monster. Instead, at a table across from it, a ferocious, red-furred Exotic Beast was baring its vicious fangs and roaring at it.
Zhao Rui’s heart went cold as he glanced over. The head on the four-headed monster’s platter was identical to the roaring, red-furred Exotic Beast.
Clearly, they were of the same species.
"How rude!"
Adolf was quite displeased at being interrupted. He turned to look at the red-furred beast, raised a slender finger slightly, and an invisible ripple shot out, instantly piercing the Exotic Beast’s chest.
"If it happens again, I will personally savor your flavor."
Adolf’s voice was placid, but the terror it held was enough to make one’s blood run cold.
The red-furred Exotic Beast let out a low growl and bared its fangs, but it didn’t dare roar again. Clutching its chest, it slowly retreated from the hall.
The four-headed monster grinned, baring its teeth. It extended four tongues and licked the head on its platter, peeling off a layer of tender scalp.
It revealed the stark white bone beneath.
"Delicious, mmm... delicious."
Watching this, Zhao Rui’s stomach churned. He quickly averted his gaze.
Much of the food here was extremely savage, a literal depiction of eating raw flesh and drinking blood. You could call it undisguised carnage cuisine.
Adolf saw this and chuckled. "This place provides any resource you could ever want—lifeforms, states of Energy, even power enhancements. As long as you can find your footing, it’s all yours."
"Of course, if you fail... well, sorry, but we don’t support idlers."
A cold glint appeared in Zhao Rui’s eyes. ’I already expected as much.’ They had stumbled into this place by a strange twist of fate. The moment they saw the big-headed creature, they had fallen under its control.
The cruelty of the universe was far more of a dog-eat-dog world than he had ever imagined.
He hadn’t tried to flee immediately, not out of hesitation, but because he knew he couldn’t. The moment he and the man in white appeared, several powerful forces had locked onto them.
Zhao Rui had tried to counter with his Divine Soul Power, but it was like a drop in the ocean, failing to create the slightest ripple.
That was why he had silently followed the large-headed creature.
’When you’re under another’s roof, you have no choice but to bow your head.’
Zhao Rui remained silent, simply describing a few simple dishes to the robot.
The robot accepted Zhao Rui’s instructions and transmitted them to a central kitchen. A moment later, four steaming dishes appeared in the service window before it.
The robot skillfully picked up the food and placed it before Zhao Rui.
A glint flashed in Zhao Rui’s eyes as a thousand thoughts raced through his mind.
’They couldn’t simulate the flora and fauna of Blue Star. All they could produce was a pile of specious meats and plants.’
’They bore some resemblance, but the differences were huge.’
’What does this mean?’
’It means their knowledge base is lacking. They know very little about Blue Star and can’t accurately replicate what I wanted through their biological systems.’
’The existence of Blue Star?’
Zhao Rui had a feeling that things were far more complex than he had anticipated.
Though the food was a poor imitation, Zhao Rui acted as if nothing was amiss. He picked up the dishes and walked toward a nearby empty seat.
Fighting was forbidden here, so all the creatures were docilely eating the food on their plates.
Zhao Rui took a few bites. The flavor was decent enough; after all, he had described the desired taste experience, so the robot’s simulation couldn’t be too far off.
After a few bites, the man in white also came over, carrying his own food. He didn’t dare make a sound, simply trailing silently beside Zhao Rui and eating with his head down.
If before he had worried about Zhao Rui killing him, now Zhao Rui had ironically become his protector.
