Chapter 590 - 337: Celestial Demon Sect
A thousand years ago, before the Great Tang existed, the place now known as Chang’an City was a fierce battlefield. Celestial beings descending to the mortal world and Celestial Demons breaking through dimensions all fought relentlessly here, altering the terrain until mountains flattened and plains turned into valleys.
The Celestial Demons’ purpose in coming to the human world was slaughter. Wherever they passed, no living creature was spared.
After a massacre, the power of the Celestial Demons would grow even stronger.
These creatures, the Celestial Demons, do not require cultivation. As long as they continue to slaughter and infuse their essence into others, their strength will continuously increase. To prevent themselves from being threatened, the celestials must constantly hunt the Celestial Demons to stop their numbers from growing rampant.
Many secrets of the ancient battles between celestials and Celestial Demons have been buried with those who knew them, both celestial and human.
However, the Celestial Demons know very well why they chose to break through into the mortal world back then. It was not only for the killing; there was something far more important.
And that was... the existence of an intact but soulless Primordial Celestial Demon in the mortal realm.
To the Celestial Demons, this was nothing less than the ultimate treasure. If they could perform a demonic infusion into this Primordial Celestial Demon, they could awaken with the power of the strongest Celestial Demon.
In Ancient Times, the power of a Primordial Celestial Demon was terrifying. But later, the celestials used strategy to besiege them, forcing the Primordial Celestial Demons to either die or perform demonic infusion. With each infusion, the original demonic power diluted, making it impossible for any subsequent Celestial Demon infusion to threaten the celestials again.
Thus, whoever could obtain the body of this Primordial Celestial Demon in the mortal world could become a king among Celestial Demons, leading millions into the celestial realm. This desire has been etched into the heart of every Celestial Demon.
Underground Chang’an, an enormous hollow chamber stands—a hidden temple unsuspected by all.
Within the underground palace, a large tree with purple branches and leaves stands. Its roots twist around its trunk like tentacles, constantly writhing as if alive.
Under the tree, individuals in teal robes stand holding daggers and bowls, continuously slicing the tree trunk to extract droplets of purple liquid.
At the tree’s base grow transparent membranous fruits, each the size of a winter melon, with entities resembling fetuses floating inside, occasionally releasing bubbles.
Pop!
One of the fruits suddenly bursts open, spilling its contents out, along with a small demon with horns on its head rolling out.
Seeing this, one robed figure quickly bends down and brings a bowl filled with purple sap to the small demon’s mouth, pouring the entire bowl in.
Gurgle!
Swiftly, the small demon’s body begins to grow until it becomes a creature resembling a Celestial Demon.
"We’ve been gaining more recently; we should soon be able to awaken the Ancestor," another robed figure says.
"The chaos in Chang’an has started. The situation here won’t remain hidden for long."
"No worries, once the Ancestor awakens, even if a Grandmaster comes seeking trouble, we won’t fear. This world certainly contains slumbering Celestial Demons from the past. When the Ancestor awakens, they can be called upon one by one, and the mortal realm will fall into our Celestial Demon Sect’s hands."
The Celestial Demon-like creature seems inclined to attack as it listens, but when a teal robed person glances at it, their eyes flash green, compelling the Celestial Demon to obediently lie down, not daring to move much.
"Go hunt, or you’ll have no food in the future."
As if understanding, the demon-like creature immediately turns and leaves the place.
...
Traversing a long, narrow passageway, Qin Yuesheng finally reaches its end. When he stands atop the rock wall and sees the distant underground temple, his expression is one of surprise.
Who would have thought such a thing existed beneath Chang’an?
"This is the demon’s lair," Qin Yuesheng says, lifting the Tower of All Beings he carries on his back. "Looks like today will see another battle."
"Hiss!"
Suddenly, an unusual sound comes from beneath his feet. He stomps, causing the rock beneath him to shatter. A figure lunges at him—it’s a Celestial Demon roughly the size of an adult.
"Seeking death." Qin Yuesheng casually waves his hand, a flash of cold light slicing through, instantly leaving a long gash on the demon’s body, which splits in two, falling to the ground.
Yet, this was only the beginning; more demon-like entities start emerging from the rock walls. Lacking wings, they cannot fly, but leap off to attack Qin Yuesheng.
Their assault is suicidal, with no regard for the great heights they leap from. If they miss Qin Yuesheng, they’ll plummet off the cliff.
But Qin Yuesheng won’t let them touch him. A surge of Inner Strength explodes around him; all demons near him are shattered into fragments, their blood scattering—a truly gruesome sight.
