Before he knew it, Xu Qing reached the end of the Dao Suppression Tower’s first layer and saw a staircase leading to the second. After a moment of contemplation, he ascended the stairs toward the next level.

「Time passed.」

Xu Qing made his way through the Dao Suppression Tower, ascending layer by layer. On each, he saw more of the massive, majestic tombstones.

The higher he climbed, the fewer tombstones he found. Eventually, he arrived at the very top of the Dao Suppression Tower.

Xu Qing took a deep breath. The space around him was a swirl of primordial Chaos, filled with a mist so dense he couldn’t see anything in the distance.

As Xu Qing looked closer, he confirmed there were indeed only three tombstones. Here, on the 9th Layer of the Dao Suppression Tower, a Shushan Forbidden Area, only three Sect Leaders of Shu Mountain were buried.

In the very center stood a sword-shaped, purple tombstone.

Characters were carved upon the tombstone.

They read: Tomb of the Shushan Ancestor, ’Li Xiaoyao’.

Xu Qing was startled. He looked again at the sword-shaped purple tombstone and saw many more words carved upon it, detailing the life of the Shushan Ancestor, Li Xiaoyao.

’So the Shushan Ancestor who founded the Shushan Sacred Land was named Li Xiaoyao.’

Xu Qing mused, ’And his life story is carved on this tombstone as well. If what’s written here is true, then the Shushan Ancestor was truly incredible.’

The inscription recorded that once, during the era in which Li Xiaoyao lived, the entire Sea of Chaos contained ten Forbidden Lands. In addition to the Nine Great Forbidden Lands that exist today, there was a tenth: the Immortal Forbidden Area.

At that time, a Forbidden Immortal Life from the Immortal Forbidden Area—one who had slumbered for countless Eras of Chaos and had even attained the realm of the Three Great Immortals—awoke.

To save themselves, many of the Forbidden Immortal Lifeforms fled to other Forbidden Lands. The majority escaped to the Dark Forbidden Land, which is why it harbors such hostility toward the Profound Yellow Realm.

Li Xiaoyao fought within the Immortal Forbidden Area for a hundred years, utterly annihilating it. And so, the Ten Forbidden Lands of the Sea of Chaos became the Nine Great Forbidden Lands.

The Immortal Forbidden Area was wiped from the Sea of Chaos.

In the aftermath of this war, the name of the Shushan Ancestor, Li Xiaoyao, resounded throughout the entire Sea of Chaos. The Profound Yellow Realm became the foremost of the Nine Great Origin Worlds, earning the reverence of all races across the All Heavens and Myriads of Realms.

But alas, because the Shushan Ancestor, Li Xiaoyao, had unleashed his full power, he could no longer conceal his Cultivation. After only half an Era of Chaos, the Chaos Great Tribulation was forced to descend. After presiding over the All Heavens and Myriads of Realms for a mere half an Era of Chaos, the Shushan Ancestor, Li Xiaoyao, was forced to confront the tribulation.

Buried within the Dao Suppression Tower—this Shushan Forbidden Area—was the sword used by the Shushan Ancestor Li Xiaoyao, named the Sword of Immortal Sword Dao.

It was also known as the Carefree Sword.

As for the other two tombstones, they belonged to two later Sect Leaders of Shu Mountain, who had earned the right to be buried here. After the Shushan Ancestor, Li Xiaoyao, vanished, Shu Mountain began to decline. Many hidden enemies watched with covetous eyes, and even Forbidden Immortal Lifeforms began to make moves from the shadows.

In the years that followed, two terrifying, decisive battles broke out. The Shushan Sacred Land was nearly destroyed, but the emergence of these two Sect Leaders turned the tide against all odds, saving Shu Mountain from the brink of collapse.
