Chapter 510 - 507 – CLASH OF TWO SPIRIT REALMS: AUTHORITY OF THE LIGHT IN THE UNDERWORLD
While Sylvia created a symphony of bloody massacre at the bottom of the Abyssal Chasm and Stacia was drowning in an academic ocean in the Library, Alicia faced her own trial in a completely different dimension. As soon as her Spirit form stepped through the blue portal created by Mother Persephone, Alicia was not greeted by hard obsidian ground or volcanic rocks. It was as if she had stepped into a sea of auroras. The sky above her had no clear boundaries, but was rather a blend of sapphire blue, faded purple, and emerald green waves swimming in the void. Around her, transparent crystal islands floated in the air, connected by rivers of spiritual energy flowing without gravity.
This was the Primordial Spirit Realm, a mirror dimension located in the dimensional folds of the Underworld. This place had no physical matter. Everything here, including the ground she stood on, was formed from the memories, wills, and essences of ancient souls who had long left their mortal bodies.
As an entity of the Spirit race, Alicia should have felt like she was returning to a peaceful hometown. In theory, the energy in this place resonated with the core of her soul, granting her an infinite supply of mana and absolute clarity of mind. However, the reality she currently faced was far from peaceful.
The spiritual air in this dimension rumbled with an extremely dense aura of murder, hatred, and greed.
SWOOOOOSH! CLANG!
A pitch-black spiritual sword shot through the air, aimed right at Alicia’s neck. But before the sword could touch her thin barrier, a glowing silver shield appeared out of nowhere, parrying the attack and producing blue sparks.
"Protect the Light! Do not let these sinful filths touch Her Highness!"
The echoing baritone voice of a spirit knight in silver armor rang out loudly. The knight had no face behind his helmet, only a blaze of blue fire symbolizing his sacred resolve. He was not alone. Hundreds of other spirits in the form of knights, guardian mages, and warriors from various eras had formed a solid defensive circle formation, surrounding Alicia in the center.
This was a very complicated situation. Persephone had tasked her with controlling the spirits and becoming the ruler of this realm. However, the Primordial Spirit Realm in the Underworld was essentially a dumping ground for ancient souls. The majority of them were criminal spirits, bloodthirsty tyrants, cursed dark mages, and monsters unable to find peace. As soon as Alicia entered with her pure holy aura, these evil spirits immediately responded like angry moths seeing a bonfire; they wanted to rip, tear, and swallow Alicia’s light to quench their thirst.
Fortunately for Alicia, her absolute authority as a Supreme Spirit naturally attracted souls who still possessed remnants of honor. Ancient warrior spirits, fallen holy knights trapped in the Underworld, and past heroes yearning for a pure leader, automatically kneeled and swore loyalty to her upon her arrival. They were the ones now fighting desperately on the front lines, acting as Alicia’s sword and shield.
Alicia stood tall in the center of the formation, her sky-blue eyes sweeping across the battlefield that stretched to the horizon. Outside her protective circle, tens of thousands of evil spirits in the form of terrifying shadows, red-eyed wraiths, and deafeningly screaming banshees continued their relentless assault.
"This condition cannot be allowed to drag on," Alicia muttered, evaluating the situation.
Unlike Sylvia who could destroy thousands of enemies with a single swing of the Chains of Abyss, Alicia was very aware of her own weaknesses. She was a Supporter and a Controller. Her offensive magic, although present, lacked the massive destructive power to annihilate tens of thousands of evil spirits at once. If she forced herself to use large-scale attack magic, it would merely waste her mana efficiency and might not be enough to kill high-level spirits.
Therefore, Alicia took on the role she mastered best: Tactical Commander.
She raised her white magic staff into the air. Its crystal tip emitted waves of golden light that spread across the entire battlefield.
"Listen to me, loyal warrior spirits!" Alicia’s soft yet authoritative voice echoed through the soul of every entity there, overpowering the screams of the banshees. "Maintain the Phalanx formation! Do not be provoked into chasing retreating enemies. I will paralyze their movements!"
Alicia closed her eyes, focusing her spiritual resonance with the surrounding realm. Instead of chanting a destructive spell, she began to weave a suppression curse, a massive-scale area debuff.
"Aura of Lethargy: Chains of the Penitent."
An invisible shockwave erupted from Alicia’s body. Instantly, the crystal ground beneath the evil spirits’ feet radiated a dim golden magic circle. Incredibly thin chains of light crawled up from the ground, binding the ankles, wings, and weapons of the evil spirits.
The effect of this debuff was instant and highly detrimental to the enemy side. The movement speed of the tens of thousands of evil spirits plummeted sharply by 60%. Their previously lightning-fast attacks now looked like slow motion in the eyes of the warrior spirits. Not only that, the spiritual weight of the chains made it difficult for the wraiths and shadow spirits to maintain their intangible forms, forcing them to materialize spiritually, making them easier targets for the knights’ swords.
"Now! Push their front lines!" shouted the blue fire knight acting as Alicia’s field general.
The warrior spirits advanced in unison, slaughtering the evil spirits whose movements had been paralyzed by Alicia. Cheers of war echoed, cleaving through the sea of auroras above them.
Alicia did not stop there. She saw a group of banshees on the left flank preparing to launch a sonic scream attack that could shatter the souls of her warriors. Alicia immediately pointed her index finger at them.
"Silence of the Ethereal Void."
A soundproof dome made of spiritual energy covered the banshee group. When they screamed, not a single sound wave escaped the dome. Their attack power was neutralized to zero, leaving them confused and instantly massacred by the spirit archer squad from Alicia’s side.
"Good," Alicia whispered to herself. She took a deep breath, balancing the flow of mana in her body.
Seeing her troops slightly exhausted from the ceaseless fighting, Alicia decided to provide a supportive buff. She cast "Light’s Gentle Blessing", spreading drizzles of golden light rain that touched the armor and transparent bodies of the warrior spirits on her side. As soon as the light touched them, their spiritual stamina recovered by about 20%, and their speed increased slightly. The imaginary wounds on their spirit bodies closed slowly.
However, Alicia could only smile wryly at the effect of her buff.
This is all I can do for reinforcement, Alicia thought while sighing faintly. She remembered her sister. If only Stacia were here, she would surely have cast dozens of crazy stacked buffs. Stacia could turn these ordinary knights into the equivalents of temporary war gods, granting hundreds of percent in stat boosts, pain immunity, and insane lifesteal. Unfortunately, when it came to extreme buffs like that, she was absolutely no match for her. Stacia’s absolute expertise in manipulating stats and buffs could not be imitated by anyone.
Even though it was just a regular buff, Alicia’s assistance was more than enough for those warrior spirits. Knowing that they were protected, supported, and healed by the figure of "The Light", the spirit troops’ morale soared uncontrollably. They fought with incredible fanaticism, pushing back the sea of evil spirits step by step.
Alicia’s tactics were brilliant. She controlled the flow of battle like a maestro leading an orchestra. She cast a Blindness debuff on the sniper spirits in the back, cast a Physical Attack Reduction debuff on the giant berserker spirits in the front, and continuously provided stable light healing buffs to her own troops. In this way, despite being drastically outnumbered, Alicia’s warrior spirit troops suffered minimal casualties, while tens of thousands of criminal spirits were slowly whittled away.
However, the Underworld would not allow Persephone’s trial to be completed that easily.
When the front line of the criminal spirits began to falter and crumble, the sea of auroras in the sky above suddenly turned blood red. Spiritual clouds gathered, forming a giant vortex that emitted lethal pressure. All the spirits, both evil and good, instantly stopped their fighting. Their spiritual breath seemed to be forcibly snatched away.
From the center of the blood cloud vortex, a giant sledgehammer the size of a hill fell, smashing into the crystal ground at meteor speed.
BOOOOOOMMMM!
A devastating shockwave swept across the battlefield. Hundreds of warrior spirits who were too close to the hammer’s point of impact shattered to pieces, reverting to formless memory dust. Even Alicia had to create three consecutive layers of Aegis of the Sun to withstand the blast of corrosive wind trying to blow her away.
As the spiritual dust settled, a giant figure emerged from within the crater.
It was a Giant Spirit. Its height reached fifty meters. Its body was formed from a tangle of shadow muscles and millions of human faces screaming in pain. It wore a broken crown made of black thorns, and its right hand gripped the handle of the giant sledgehammer it had just dropped.
The Giant Spirit raised its head, showing off two empty eye sockets radiating blazing green fire. It stared directly at Alicia, who looked as small as an ant in the distance.
"Pure light... in our filthy domain..." The Giant’s voice sounded like the friction of two colliding tectonic plates, vibrating violently inside the heads of all entities who heard it. "How disgusting. How dare you try to subjugate the inhabitants of this realm with your cheap magic. I am Kael’Thas, The Conqueror of the First Era! Even in the realm of death, I will never bow to the light!"
Its presence instantly erased all the debuffs Alicia had planted on the evil spirits. Gaining protection from the Giant, the remnants of the tens of thousands of criminal spirits rose again and roared fiercely, their morale completely restored.
On the other hand, Alicia’s warrior spirits began to tremble. The massive level difference made their spiritual instincts scream to flee. The Blue Fire Knight General stepped back, looking at Alicia in despair.
"Your Highness... his power is too great. We cannot penetrate his spiritual defense. You must retreat! We will sacrifice our essence to hold him back!" shouted the General.
Alicia stood tall. Her beautiful face radiated no fear whatsoever. She stared at Kael’Thas with a cold, calculating gaze.
My offensive magic won’t be able to pierce his skin, Alicia evaluated quickly. I don’t have Sylvia’s cutting power or absolute destruction magic. And without Stacia’s extreme buffs, I cannot strengthen these knight troops to fight him physically.
The Giant raised his sledgehammer high. The sky rumbled, preparing to welcome a devastating attack that would flatten the entire area.
Alicia closed her eyes, ignoring the shadow of death looming over her. If she couldn’t attack physically, and couldn’t strengthen her troops, then there was only one way out as a Supreme Spirit entity. She had to attack the concept of the enemy’s existence.
"Mother Persephone told me to control you all," Alicia whispered, her voice very quiet, but magically heard clearly by all entities in the realm. "She didn’t tell me to fight fairly."
Alicia opened her eyes. Her sky-blue irises now changed to a blinding white-gold color.
"Domain: Absolute Spirit Sanctum."
The world stopped.
It wasn’t time that stopped, but rather the flow of mana and spiritual energy throughout the Primordial Spirit Realm was forced to a halt by a single absolute authority. The mirror realm, previously dominated by Kael’Thas’s murderous aura and black miasma, was suddenly replaced by an endless expanse of a holy, glowing glass sea.
This was not just a debuff. This was a modification of the laws of reality.
Kael’Thas’s sledgehammer, which was about to strike Alicia, stopped in mid-air, held back by countless transparent walls of light. The Giant roared in anger, trying to exert his power, but oddly, his shadow muscles began to shrink. The green fire in his eyes dimmed.
"W-what are you doing to me?!" roared Kael’Thas, his voice now filled with panic.
Alicia floated into the air, her cloak of light fluttering gracefully. She stared at the Giant with ice-cold pity. "You are so proud of the power of your hatred and evil. But in my holy domain, all malice, anger, and sins are converted into absolute weakness."
"Divine Debuff: Scales of Justice."
Instantly, all the sins and hatred accumulated by Kael’Thas over thousands of years turned into a poison that corroded his essence. The greater the malice he harbored towards Alicia, the greater the status reduction he received.
Kael’Thas’s strength plummeted sharply. His physical strength dropped by 80%. His spiritual defense shattered to pieces. His sledgehammer cracked and crumbled to dust because he no longer had the strength to maintain it. The criminal spirits around him fared even worse; tens of thousands of evil spirits instantly fell to their knees, weeping blood, completely paralyzed by a pressure of holiness they could not bear.
"General," Alicia called in a soft voice, turning to the Blue Fire Knight who was frozen in awe.
The knight flinched, then stared at the Giant who was now powerless and kneeling beneath Alicia’s authority. The Giant had transformed from an apocalyptic threat into a sitting duck who had even lost the ability to lift his arms.
"Execute him. Do not let his suffering drag on," Alicia commanded calmly.
"As Your Highness commands!" the Blue Fire Knight General roared enthusiastically. Hundreds of other warrior spirits, now freed from fear and filled with power from Alicia’s light, shot forward like silver arrows.
Kael’Thas could only widen his dimming eyes, unable to move as hundreds of swords, spears, and axes from the warrior spirits pierced his giant body simultaneously. Without his spiritual defense, the ancient Giant shattered like fragile glass. His body exploded into millions of shards of light that dissolved into Alicia’s glowing glass expanse.
As soon as the Giant was destroyed, Alicia slowly lowered herself back to the ground. Her radiant form subsided, returning to her beautiful and elegant elf form. Her breathing was slightly ragged; using the Domain drained a large portion of her pure mana, although this realm helped her recover quickly.
The remnants of the surviving evil spirits no longer dared to resist. They crawled on the ground, trembling in fear, and pressed their foreheads to the crystal surface, surrendering absolute obedience to their new ruler. The warrior spirits simultaneously knelt on one knee, bowing their heads in deep reverence to The Light.
Alicia looked out over the expanse of her new army with a sincere faint smile. She knew she would never be as brutal as Sylvia in battle, and she did not have Stacia’s insane obsession with science or buffs. However, when it came to leading, suppressing opponents, and dominating the battlefield through authority without absolute violence, Alicia stood unmatched.
She had passed Persephone’s trial. Now, with millions of ancient spirits under her control, Alicia’s overall combat power had reached a new level. She was now the true Queen of the Primordial Spirit Realm.
