Chapter 513 - 510 – THE AWAKENING OF THE COLOSSI AND THE SPECTATORS FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DIMENSION
A deafening crunch of bones tore through the eternal silence in the Primordial Zenith. The air, which already burdened them with a hundredfold gravity, now felt even thicker, as if the gray atmosphere of the dimension itself had turned into liquid hot lead suffocating their lungs. Beneath the sunless sky filled with swirling clouds of dead cosmic dust, the landscape of the giant tomb slowly began to come alive.
The jagged mountains, which turned out to be a row of ancient ribs, began to shift. The dull skull continent that served as the foothold for the three sisters trembled with a magnitude enough to destroy a small planet. From the crevices of the fossilized abyss, a blackish-green miasma spewed out like a toxic geyser.
Then, piercing through the thick gray fog, a pair of bright yellow eyes the size of an island slowly opened completely. The eyes had no pupils, only radiating the light of ancient death and hunger that had been restrained for thousands of eons. A low growling sound that did not originate from vocal cords but rather from the friction of massive spiritual energy echoed and made the vacuum of space ripple.
Witnessing the apocalyptic scene unfolding before their eyes, Sylvia, Alicia, and Stacia simultaneously chanted the exact same thing in their hearts.
Mother Persephone is truly a crazy sadistic goddess! Damn it! Sylvia cursed internally, her fangs gnashing to hold back anger mixed with a surge of pure adrenaline.
It wasn’t just one. Behind the shadows of the fog in the distance, more giant eyes appeared. Some were blood-red, others pale blue. The Colossi, Jotunns of the void era, and Primordial Titans whose bodies never decayed began to rise from their long slumber. They smelled the scent of life. They smelled the scent of fresh souls that had just been thrown onto their dinner plates.
"Our vacation is truly over, my Sisters!" shouted Sylvia, her voice nearly drowned out by the roar of the giants. She forced her muscles to fight the extreme gravity.
Without wasting a single second, Sylvia stretched out both of her hands. Pitch-black miasma exploded from beneath her feet. Chains of Abyss black chains ending in sharp spearheads shot out by the dozens, dancing wildly in the air like starving venomous snakes. On both of her hands, long black claws also began to extend. She had fully entered slaughter mode.
"Stacia! How long do you need to neutralize the effects of this damn gravity?!" shouted Sylvia while taking a battle stance, her eyes staring sharply at a skeletal hand wrapped in stone veins piercing through the fog, preparing to smash them.
Stacia, whose face was deathly pale from the area’s pressure, bit her lower lip until it almost bled. She didn’t care about the pain. Her survival instincts and academic genius immediately took over control. With extremely swift hand movements, she summoned dozens of magical parchment scrolls that orbited around her body.
"Give me ten seconds! The laws of physics in this place are completely shattered, I have to rewrite the gravity polarity formula from scratch!" Stacia replied, panting heavily.
Despite the difficulty, Stacia’s lips began to chant spells at an absurd speed. Stacked golden and purple magic circles began to form beneath the feet of the three of them.
"Absolute Physical Enhancement! Pain Nullification! Gravitational Adaptation Barrier! Accelerated Mana Recovery!"
One by one, god-tier buffs that had been modified by Stacia using knowledge from the Underworld Library exploded and enveloped Sylvia’s and Alicia’s bodies. Sylvia could feel the burden pressing down on her spine slowly decrease drastically, while her mana flow, which had been obstructed, surged forth once again.
At the same time, Alicia did not stay idle. She crossed her magic staff in front of her chest, letting a holy aura shine brightly, creating a dazzling contrast amidst the gray sea of death. Her beautiful face hardened, filled with absolute determination.
"Domain: Absolute Ethereal Suppression!" Alicia exclaimed with a voice echoing with full authority. "Divine Debuff: Chains of the Eon, Mass Enfeeblement, and Corrosion of Will!"
A wave of white-gold light erupted from Alicia’s body, sweeping a radius of tens of kilometers in an instant. The moment the light touched the giant bodies of the newly awakened Colossi, their movements instantly slowed down. Their ancient bones creaked in protest due to the weight of Alicia’s curse magic. The accuracy and speed of the giants were forcibly cut down exponentially. The combination of Stacia’s extreme buffs and Alicia’s absolute debuffs had created a bridge for Sylvia to overcome the impossible level difference and environmental conditions.
"Ten seconds are up! Go forth, you Barbarian! Slash those rotten bones!" screamed Stacia while maintaining the balance of her magic circles.
"With pleasure!" Sylvia’s laughter exploded, maniacal and full of bloodlust. She used the Chains of Abyss to anchor onto the giant bone pillars around her, pulling her own body with the speed of a cannonball, darting to meet the first giant that dared to challenge them.
While the life-and-death battle that would determine the evolutionary fate of the three sisters unfolded, an inversely contrasting atmosphere took place in the Main Palace of the Underworld.
Inside the cool and elegant throne room, Persephone sat gracefully leaning against her obsidian throne. In front of her floated a giant, bright blue magical projection screen, broadcasting a live feed of the chaos occurring in the tomb of the giants. The goddess of death stared at the screen with a faint, mysterious smile.
However, Persephone’s attention was occasionally distracted by the small creature currently curling up and shifting restlessly on her lap.
The Golden Dragon, a legendary entity that was supposed to have a colossal form that terrified the heavens, was now in the form of a golden Ragdoll pet cat. Its fur was very long and soft, with crystal blue eyes that radiated intelligence beyond the reasoning of ordinary animals. At this moment, the golden cat was digging its claws into the fabric of Persephone’s dress, meowing in a very aggressive and demanding tone.
"Meooow! Meooooww! Hsssh!" The golden cat glared sharply at Persephone’s face, then turned to the blue screen, as if protesting vehemently for being left behind.
Beside the throne, lay a very beautiful small deer. Its fur was as white as snow with small crystal antlers that emitted a soft rainbow light. It was The Qilin, a heavenly mount now trapped in an adorable mini form. The little deer snorted softly, tapping its front hooves on the velvet floor, displaying the same anxiety as the cat.
A few minutes ago, before the giant gates in the Deepest Hall slammed shut, these two sacred pets actually intended to follow their masters. Sol had leaped at lightning speed, intending to dash into the gray fog portal. So did The Qilin, who ran chasing after Alicia.
However, before they could touch the dimension’s threshold, a pair of invisible hands from Persephone’s telekinetic power had grabbed the golden cat’s scruff and the little deer’s neck. Persephone pulled them back right as the stone gates closed with a deafening thud, locking Sylvia and her sisters inside.
"Calm down, you two," said Persephone with a gentle tone that nevertheless contained an absolute pressure that made the air around them freeze for a moment. The goddess’s slender hand descended, stroking the back of the golden cat on her lap with slow and methodical movements. Her touch was affectionate, but clearly showed who was in control in that place.
The golden cat growled lowly, its tail fur puffing up thickly, still feeling unaccepting. The Qilin on the floor lowered its head, letting out a soft whining sound that sounded like wind chimes.
"I know you want to interfere," continued Persephone, her eyes never leaving the blue screen that now displayed an explosion of black miasma as Sylvia destroyed a giant finger the size of a skyscraper. "You are loyal partners, and you can sense the life-threatening danger to your masters. But, that place is not a playground for you right now."
Persephone lifted the golden cat until their faces were level. Her purple eyes stared directly into the crystal blue eyes of the Golden Dragon.
"You have to understand, Little Dragon. The trial in the Primordial Zenith is specifically designed to push Sylvia’s existential limits. She has the System, but the System will only trigger the evolution criteria if she faces absolute despair with her own strength, and the strength of her sisters tied to a single soul root."
Persephone placed the cat back on her lap, letting the creature sniff her fingertips in resignation.
"If you and the Qilin went in there, two scenarios would happen," Persephone explained in the tone of a lecturer teaching her student. "First, the presence of high-level entities like yourselves would mess up the EXP distribution given by the natural laws of the dimension. Sylvia’s evolution would be delayed for over a dozen years because her points would be divided with you. The second scenario... the environment of the Grave of the Titans would consider you two as pure intruders from outside the reincarnation system, and the stardust vortex would strip away your cosmic powers until you are reduced to dust in a matter of hours."
Hearing that explanation, the golden cat finally stopped growling. It stared at the blue screen once more, seeing how its master was fighting desperately, dangling on the Chains of Abyss, dodging a giant hand sweep that destroyed the peak of a bone mountain. The Qilin below also seemed to press its body closer to the leg of the throne, understanding that the goddess before them was acting for the common good.
"So, sit nicely," Persephone murmured while crossing her legs, returning to stroke the golden cat’s thick fur with a soothing rhythm. "The only thing you can do now is to watch, observe, and pray to whatever you worship so that your master doesn’t die getting trampled before she realizes her true potential."
On the blue screen, the battle had reached a crazy escalation.
A giant hand the size of an urban district, formed from intertwined fossils, cold magma, and black miasma, hovered above the three sisters, covering the sky like a deadly eclipse. The palm descended at incredible speed, tearing the air with the sound of continuous sonic booms. If the attack landed, not only would their bodies be shattered into atomic particles, but their souls would also be erased by the ancient laws of death in that place.
"Alicia! Now!" shouted Stacia, whose hands shone brightly with a barrier spell.
Alicia pointed her magic staff straight at the falling giant palm. "Domain: Absolute Nullification Zone!"
A giant dome of white light bloomed above them, colliding with the cosmic palm. The collision between Alicia’s light authority and the Titan’s physical mass produced a shockwave that flattened all bone pillars within a ten-kilometer radius. Alicia’s light dome cracked severely, slowly crumbling under the unreasonable pressure, but it succeeded in halting the giant’s attack momentum for two seconds.
And two seconds were more than enough time for Sylvia.
Receiving all the stacked attack and speed buffs from Stacia, Sylvia’s body turned into a streak of black shadow bullets. She shot the Chains of Abyss at the giant’s wrist, using the chain’s pulling momentum to shoot upwards, piercing through the shockwave with thunderous laughter.
"Thanks for the foothold, Mr. Stupid Giant!" mocked Sylvia as her feet finally landed on top of the giant’s wrist. She ran up the colossal arm, defying the vertical incline as if gravity no longer had any meaning.
The claws on her hands extended, enveloped by an aura of absolute darkness capable of cutting through space and time itself. As Sylvia reached the Titan’s elbow area, she exerted all her muscle strength and the thrust of her demonic mana.
"Reaper Claw!"
Sylvia swung her claws. A thin black line the size of a thread was painted in the air, piercing the giant arm that reached hundreds of meters in thickness.
For a moment, time seemed to stop. Then, the extremely loud sound of material tearing was heard. The giant arm was severed with a very smooth cut, sliding down from the elbow, and smashed into the skull continent with an explosion of bone dust that obscured all vision.
The roar of pain from the ancient creature shook the entire dimension, vibrating the blue projection screen in Persephone’s throne room.
Inside the thick dust fog, Sylvia’s figure floated slowly, landing back beside her two sisters with her silver chain cloak fluttering gallantly. Her breath was ragged, but her eyes burned brightly with pride and ambition.
This was just one enemy. There were still dozens of other Colossi inching closer, surrounding them from all directions. The true trial in this Ancient Giant Tomb had just entered the preliminary stage. The journey to Level 400 was still extremely long, bloody, and impossible. But together, the three sisters were ready to write their own history of destruction.
