Chapter 141: Does That Shop Really Exist?
At that moment, the dishes Jing Wenbo had ordered earlier were brought to the table one after another.
They were all fine dishes, many made with high-end ingredients.
Of course, they tasted incredible too.
Jing Wenbo said with a cheerful laugh, "The food at this place is excellent. I’ve been here once before. I picked this restaurant specifically so you two could try it out."
Liang Shui nodded. "It really is delicious. Especially this squirrel-shaped mandarin fish—it’s crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the sweetness and sourness are perfectly balanced. I think it’s better than any I’ve had before."
Wei Yang also said, "This Mapo Tofu is quite authentic and tastes amazing. But there’s another restaurant whose Mapo Tofu is on a completely different level."
Jing Wenbo and Liang Shui were both a little surprised by his comment.
"Old Wei, what restaurant are you talking about?" Jing Wenbo asked.
Wei Yang said, "Let’s talk about that later. For now, let’s drink this bottle of yours."
"You’re acting a little strange today, Old Wei," Jing Wenbo said.
Liang Shui, however, read between the lines. "Old Wei, you said we should drink Lao Jing’s bottle *first*. Does that mean we’re supposed to drink the liquor you brought after this?"
That reminded Jing Wenbo; he’d almost forgotten that Wei Yang had brought a flask of liquor as well.
’Did Wei Yang really bring it for everyone to drink?’
’It wasn’t like liquor that cost twenty yuan per liang was undrinkable.’
’But after drinking this bottle of his, could they really stomach a twenty-yuan-per-liang liquor?’
’This Old Wei really is acting weird today.’
Wei Yang chuckled. "That’s exactly what I meant. But if you two don’t want to drink it, all the better."
"Old Wei, why are you treating a twenty-yuan-per-liang liquor like it’s some kind of treasure? You’re not acting like yourself today!" Jing Wenbo said.
"I agree," Liang Shui said. "Old Wei, we might have been able to drink your liquor before having Lao Jing’s bottle. But since we started with his, I’m afraid we won’t be able to stomach yours now."
Wei Yang said, "So you’re saying you won’t drink it? Great, that’s just what I was hoping for."
Jing Wenbo and Liang Shui exchanged a glance, both thinking that Wei Yang was being incredibly strange today.
But, whatever. They decided to ignore it for now.
Time to drink and eat.
They couldn’t let such fine liquor go to waste, nor such fine food.
The three of them ate and drank at a leisurely pace.
Eventually, they finished Jing Wenbo’s bottle of liquor.
The bottle contained about eight liang.
By that math, each of them had drunk a little less than three liang.
For the three of them, this was child’s play. They weren’t the least bit drunk, not even a little light-headed.
Just then, Wei Yang placed the flask he’d brought onto the table.
’Even though he was reluctant to share, he still had to show off when the time came.’
’As for whether the other two would really refuse a drink?’
’Of course that was impossible.’
’Once the aroma of this liquor hits them, they won’t drink? They’ll be lucky not to drink the flask itself.’
"Old Wei, are you really going to drink that?" Liang Shui said.
Wei Yang said, "Of course. But since you two aren’t drinking, I’ll just drink it myself. You guys just eat up. Go on, eat."
Jing Wenbo and Liang Shui both watched Wei Yang.
They truly had no intention of drinking it. They also couldn’t believe that Wei Yang could still stomach a twenty-yuan-per-liang liquor at this point.
So, they wanted to see what exactly Wei Yang was up to.
However, the moment Wei Yang unscrewed the cap on the flask, they quickly changed their minds.
They were surprised, shocked, and utterly incredulous.
Because they had caught the scent of the liquor—an incredibly rich and mellow aroma.
This aroma was far richer and more full-bodied than that of Jing Wenbo’s bottle from earlier.
They had drunk plenty of fine liquors in their lifetimes, but they had never smelled an aroma like this before.
Based on the aroma alone, this liquor had to be absolutely delicious.
’This is a twenty-yuan-per-liang liquor?’
’You’ve got to be kidding me.’
"Old Wei, you’re not playing fair!" Jing Wenbo said. "You told us this liquor was twenty yuan per liang? And you even went out of your way to put it in a flask like this. That’s low, Old Wei, really low!"
Wei Yang shook his head. "I’m not lying to you. This liquor really is twenty yuan per liang. And I didn’t get this flask for it, either. It came in this flask originally."
"Do you think we’d believe that?" Jing Wenbo and Liang Shui both asked.
"No," Wei Yang said.
"Then why say it?"
"Because it’s the truth."
"Old Wei, you... you..."
Jing Wenbo was at a loss for words.
At that moment, Liang Shui said, "Let’s not worry about that for now. Old Wei, hurry up and pour it! Just pour the liquor first."
"Right, right, pour it first," Jing Wenbo added.
Such a rich, mellow aroma was simply too tantalizing.
The most important thing right now was to get a taste of this liquor; everything else could wait.
But Wei Yang didn’t rush to pour. Instead, he said with a grin, "Oh, so you want to drink it now?"
"Duh! Hurry up!" Jing Wenbo and Liang Shui said in unison.
They could hardly wait.
Wei Yang let out a hearty laugh before unhurriedly pouring three cups.
Jing Wenbo and Liang Shui snatched up their cups at once.
They raised them to their lips and took a small sip.
Instantly, both of them stared with wide, incredulous eyes, their expressions a mixture of excitement and thrill.
It was incredible!
It was so much better than the previous bottle.
They had never drunk anything this good in their entire lives.
They’d never even imagined a liquor this good could exist in the world.
