Looking back, he saw that the person the Plate Armor Knights were trying to protect was Albert Weston, whom he had met just recently.

The young noble was dressed in crisp, form-fitting riding attire and had the air of a military aristocrat.

Colin waved and said, "I really did just come for a wrap. Did you leave Silver Star Court too?"

"Things have been busy lately. Have you heard about the upcoming triumph ceremony? I’m here for that," Albert said with a smile. "By the way, will you be free in about a month? There’s something I’d like your team to help with."

"What is it specifically?"

"To escort me back to my lands."

’Escorting a noble’s convoy? That’s a pretty simple job.’

Colin nodded and said, "I’ll mention it to Edwin. If we’re free then, we can help you."

"That would be perfect."

Just as Albert finished speaking, the shop owner passed a wrap through the window, then asked tentatively, "Excuse me, how many more do you need?"

"I was just over here chatting with an acquaintance," Colin said, waving his hand.

"See you next time, then, Colin." Holding his wrap, Albert smiled, then left the shop with his personal guard.

Colin then took Ale to the back of the line to wait.

After buying breakfast, the two headed for the library, and Colin began to follow his plan for a productive day.

It was worth noting that because both Sending and Feather Fall were useful for Dungeon exploration, Donkexes’s Spellbook also contained these spells, which made it convenient for Colin to learn them.

After copying the formulas from the Dwarf, Colin took the Spellbook to the Black Tower, planning to practice the spells in a more professional spell laboratory.

「A few hours later, it was lunchtime.」

Colin finished his spell practice and packed up his things.

Just as he was walking out of the spell laboratory, he ran right into Morel.

The man looked exhausted, with new dark circles around his eyes.

Morel waved him over. "Hey, Colin, I need your help with something."

"Why do you always show up at the door of the spell laboratory to find me?" Colin asked, handing over two empty Dimension Bags.

"You’re here most of the time, so it’s obviously the most convenient place to find you."

"By the way, there’s something I wanted to mention," Colin said. "Before I went to Silver Star Court, a gang called the Northern Faction tried to contact me. Is that going to be a problem?"

Morel frowned and stroked his beard.

"Is that so? We’ll look into it. We’ll let you know if it becomes an issue." He then waved to someone nearby. "Lily? Come over here for a second. I have something to discuss."

As soon as he finished speaking, a figure slightly shorter than Dorn approached.

She was a Gnome dressed in a light-blue robe, her hair in twin pigtails. Most striking were her conspicuous pink hair and the vast amount of jewelry she wore—a dizzying collection of rings and necklaces.

Colin glanced over and recognized her as a member of the new nobles’ team. She looked like a Mage, too.

When the Gnome got closer, Morel snapped his fingers.

Thanks to his improved Casting Ability, Colin could clearly see a faint Magic Radiance manifest around them the moment Morel snapped his fingers.

’Looks like a silencing spell.’

Morel continued, "Alright. As you both know, the elections are coming up, so some trouble is bound to stir in Thousand Masts City."

"Just get to the job," Colin said.

"First, there have been some disappearances in the slums. This one’s for you, Lily." Morel handed the Gnome named Lily a piece of parchment. "The relevant information is on it."

"Yes, sir." The Gnome accepted the parchment respectfully.

"And for you, a mission." Morel took out a slip of paper and handed it to Colin. "Your assignment is to investigate someone for us. He’s probably clean, so we don’t want to waste any High Tier Magic. Just go investigate and see if he’s been in contact with anyone suspicious."

Colin nodded and took the slip of paper.

"If possible, try not to let him perceive that he’s being investigated. Of course, you can also talk to him directly, just as long as you don’t give yourselves away," Morel added.

He then asked, "Are you planning to go see the triumph ceremony?"

"I was planning on it," Colin said, brandishing the slip of paper, "but now I have work."

"Put that aside. For the next two days, you are not to start the mission. Everything can wait until after the triumph ceremony."

Morel continued, "Lily, you’ll go to the ’War Hounds’ restaurant. Colin, you go to the ’Horn’s Roar’ restaurant in the Castle District. I’ve reserved a table for each of your teams, so you can just go straight there."

"Can’t we eat together?" Lily asked.

"One reason I’m sending you over is to be on standby for any unexpected incidents. Another is so you can get a good look at what real heroes are like. Consider it inspiration," Morel sighed. "That’s all, you two."

With that, he snapped his fingers again to dispel the spell, then turned and left as if he had something urgent to attend to.

’I don’t even have to work, just so I can watch a parade?’

Colin suddenly found himself feeling a strange sense of anticipation for the upcoming triumph ceremony.

Just as he was about to unfold the paper to see his new assignment, a shrill voice sounded from beside him.

"Mr. Colin, good afternoon! Have you seen Navy Governor Deville?"

He looked down and saw it was the Gnome from a moment ago.

"Um, not yet..."

Before Colin could finish, Lily continued in her shrill gnomish voice, "Oh my goodness, what a pity! You must have heard the rumors about him, right? He’s a real dreamboat!"

"Indeed, and I..."

"Oh, I’m sorry, you’re not so bad yourself, Mr. Colin. Didn’t your team receive praise from the Elves at Silver Star Court? I think you can hold your own against that Navy Governor any day."

"Sorry, I have something urgent to attend to, let’s talk next time!" Colin quickly said, raising his voice, then grabbed his things and hurried away.

’That Gnome’s way of talking is just too intense. I listened for less than a few seconds and my head is already starting to hurt.’

Colin walked down the corridor toward the exit.

As he went, he unfolded the slip of paper Morel had given him.
