Chapter 304: Shouting at the Sky, Slippery Demons, and the Bracelet That Finally Worked

Elyn’s POV

Most times, I was a calm person.

In fact, if I were to be described in my previous life, most people would say I was calm, demure, quiet, hard to anger, and hard to stress over things. I had sat through thousands of meetings with Karen — my former boss — without showing any expression on my face, even as I cursed her internally and thought about a thousand ways to kill her, roast her over a pit, sell her bones to the lowest bidder... anyway, the violent thoughts aside, what I’m trying to say is that I’m a calm person.

I had been a rock.

Unshakeable. Unflappable. Unbothered. I was more of a stone demon if I were to be described. Quite unshakeable.

But since coming to the demon realm...

My patience had been tried on multiple levels.

And this was one of them.

It was just a simple outing, right? It was just something we could do to have fun. Something simple.

Truthfully, I had known, somewhere in the back of my mind, that inviting the children along was a mistake. I had known it from the very beginning, but did I care? No.

Because obviously it was supposed to be a simple outing. No one was supposed to be missing, so how was it that everyone was missing?

How the fuck did they all go missing?

I groaned, loud and long, and then I shouted at the sky.

"WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ME?!"

The sound echoed off the buildings around me, bouncing back and fading into the night air. A few demons passing by glanced at me, then quickly looked away. I didn’t care. I was beyond caring. I had been drenched in water, covered in glitter, and now I was alone in the middle of a demon market at nighttime with no idea where anyone had gone.

A demon walking past slowed and looked at me.

She was a water demon — I could tell immediately from the way her skin glistened, droplets of water falling from her arms and legs with every step. Her hair was dark and wet, plastered against her head, and her eyes were a deep shade of blue. Honestly, she looked like a nightmare.

She was wearing a simple tunic that clung to her damp skin, and her feet left wet prints on the cobblestones as she moved.

"If you’re going to shout at the sky," she said, her voice carrying a note of helpfulness, "you should walk further north. There’s a specific place designated for screams like that. Especially when it concerns lovers."

I blinked at her.

"It’s nothing like that," I said quickly.

The demon moved closer though.

"No need to be shy," she said, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Surely a succubus like you has had numerous lovers."

I frowned.

A succubus?

I was about to ask what she meant by that when I remembered.

The disguise.

Zorathys had cast a spell on all of us before we entered the market. To the demons, we looked like ordinary demons — nothing remarkable, nothing worth noting. So he had made me look like a succubus?

Hmm... not bad. At least it was better than last time. Succubi were beautiful after all.

The water demon reached out and took my hand.

Her skin was cold and wet, and I resisted the urge to pull away.

"Teach me your ways," she said, her voice earnest. "I’ve always admired succubi. The way you move, the way you speak, the way you—" she leaned closer, "—pleasure your lovers. I’ve heard that blowjobs aren’t bad and that your kind has a special way of giving them. Is that true?"

I blushed.

The heat rushed to my face so fast I felt dizzy. My cheeks burned, and I could feel the warmth spreading down my neck. I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out.

"No," I finally managed. "I mean — that’s not — I don’t —"

I pulled my hand away and stepped back, putting distance between us.

"I’m just going to do my business," I said, my voice coming out higher than intended. "And um... I hope we never meet again."

Then I turned and ran.

I didn’t look back.

I ran through the crowded streets, weaving between demons, dodging stalls and carts, until I finally reached a corner and stopped.

I leaned against the wall, breathing hard, and wiped the sweat from my brow.

What in the actual hell was that?

I had just been asked — by a complete stranger — about blowjobs.

Now it wasn’t like I didn’t know what blowjobs were or that I hadn’t given one, but to be asked about it so openly by some demon I did not know... I shook my head.

Never again.

I inhaled when suddenly I noticed the bracelet on my wrist vibrating.

I looked down and noticed a faint light was glowing from the gems embedded along its length — soft and pulsing, like a heartbeat. The light shifted, pointing in a specific direction, and I felt a tug, a gentle pull, like something was guiding me.

It was as if the bracelet was giving me directions.

I followed it.

The light pulsed brighter as I walked, leading me through the winding streets of the market district. Past stalls selling glowing fruits and steaming pots. Past demons of every shape and size. Past a group of goblins arguing over a pile of coins. Past the fire demon who was still chasing the bird that had stolen her money.

The light grew brighter.

And then I saw it.

A stall, and it was flooded.

Water poured over the edges of the counter, streaming onto the ground and forming a puddle that spread across the cobblestones.

And in the middle of the chaos, standing ankle-deep in the flood, were Retheris and Thalira.

Why was I not surprised?

I pinched the bridge of my nose.

"Calm down, Elyn, remember you are calm... hold on a minute!"

I screamed as I rushed towards the stall.

Retheris and Thalira just stared at the stall owner with wide eyes and then turned to me.

"Oh, oh," they said while I rushed towards the stall owner, who was trying to hit them with a broom.
