Chapter 217: Demon Aftermath

Elyn’s POV

Vaelory sneakily entered the room, but she stood right next to the door. I wondered if she thought I was going to hurt her, or perhaps she was just scared of my outburst. Well, I was scared of my outburst too.

And it was very valid.

I dragged a hand through my chaotic hair, messing it up even more.

"The ball ended at midnight. No surprise there. I was told it was going to end at midnight after all. But then the after-party began, and I should have stayed with Zorathys. I should have just followed him. For once, he was right about not attending, but then the ball was for me, so how could I not attend? And I was also not going to just leave when the after-party had just started. That would make absolutely no sense too," I said.

"But no. That was a rookie mistake. I should have left."

Then I turned to Rin. "You did not tell me that you demons partied nonstop for days. Days, Rin. I mean the music was nice and I enjoyed the food, but how did you all not get tired? And then it was like I was at a different place when the after-party began."

I shuddered just thinking about it. It was like I had been in a very sexual club with music pumping as the demons ground on each other. Every corner I looked, one demon was hooking up with another.

They were dancing, smoking, eating, literally just enjoying life, but there was also so much sex. It was like I had been in a sex club and not the introductory ball I had been deceived and tricked into attending.

The funny thing was I couldn’t even complain or say anything because they’re demons. It’s their lifestyle. It’s what they do.

And I couldn’t be this worked up if they had just let me rest. Okay, that was inaccurate. It was my fault that I didn’t get some rest. I didn’t think I could, especially given the fact that two whole minutes into the after-party, Zorathys made himself scarce.

For someone who went missing within two minutes, I spent hours trying to find him. I had first thought that he had gone to his room, and I planned to kill him for that... not that I could.

But then I found out he was actually in the ballroom, but in a very quiet place that no one dared to go near. And he was folded there with his shadows around him as he slept peacefully, blocking out the noise.

When I tried to wake him up... I succeeded in doing so. The demon just rubbed at his eyes and then yawned, asking me if he could leave now that he’d been here for a while.

And since I was the perfect queen-to-be who absolutely took care of my future husband and wouldn’t want him to be uncomfortable, I made him swear that he’ll stay throughout and that if he even tried to leave, I would hunt him down and burn all his novels and make sure he doesn’t get any rest at all for the period I’ll be staying in the demon realm which... according to my calculations, was up.

I did not care that I was getting attached to these demons. I did not care that my husband was absolutely handsome and I could see myself falling for him.

I needed to get out.

"And don’t even get me started on the amount of war I had to put a stop to. The fire demons picked a fight with the water demons and both rulers of the territories, along with their partners, were nowhere to be found. When I needed them most, they vanished," I said to Rin.

"They just disappeared?" Vaelory asked, taking more steps into the room. She was very interested in what I was saying.

"You could say it like that. But no, they didn’t just vanish like..." I moved my hands. "Poof. I found out later they were with their partners having sex again."

Ignivar and Ysera had a lot of sex for people who were having issues in their marriage. And don’t even get me started on Caleth. The demon had eyes for only his wife. Only his fucking wife. No one else mattered. I had to threaten him with fire before he even helped me in pulling his people aside.

"Oh holy... demons really can’t control themselves," Vaelory said.

"We are demons. It’s normal to always be horny. It’s normal to party."

"Not at my expense," I told her.

Then I sighed. I inhaled slowly and then exhaled, then smiled at the both of them.

"You see, I don’t care if the realm is falling down, but for today I am going to sleep. No one is to disturb my slumber except if it’s to give me food. I don’t care who it is. If anyone even tries to knock on my door—"

I made a slicing gesture with my hands.

"It’ll be off with his or her head."

"But my lady..."

"Do you not want any shiny jewelry?" I asked Rin.

She pouted. "I do."

"Then if you do, you would know not to disturb me. At this point, take it that I’m Zorathys and anyone who tries to disturb me, especially if it’s for work, will immediately be wiped out of existence."

"I thought you said off with their heads," Vaelory asked.

"That too," I told her. "Now that that is clear... get out."

Rin and Vaelory immediately left. Rin turned into a raven and flew out the window while Vaelory used the door.

I picked up my pillows and immediately went to my bed.

"Fucking demon realm. Fucking demons. Fucking foolish, lazy, infuriating demon king," I grumbled as I laid on the soft welcoming bed.

If this is what the demon realm was going to offer... no, I couldn’t stay anymore. It’s just funny that it actually took me attending my introductory ball to realize that I couldn’t cope with the demons here.

Tomorrow, I’ll take a map to scout out everywhere. There must be a portal that will take me back to the human realm.

But for now, I had to sleep.
