Chapter 98: Ignivar And Naviel Working Through The Night While Zorathys Sleeps Peacefully With His Body Pillow

Sometimes Naviel asked himself how he came to know Zorathys. Sometimes he wondered if some demon had cursed him when he was younger. Or perhaps it was something that was passed down in his family.

He and Ignivar had been working for over twenty-four hours now. Their off day had been used to do work, and if it was just paperwork or something simple, he wouldn’t even be mad. But no, that wasn’t just it.

The both of them hadn’t even had the time to close their eyes, because if they did, then things could likely take a wrong turn, and when Zorathys found out, it would be their heads on a platter.

Naviel had first gone to the mine where the child traffickers were and apprehended them, then they rescued the demon children who had been kidnapped. Thankfully, they were able to stop the operation early.

It wasn’t like the traffickers had not sold some children to the humans before—they had—but immediately Zorathys heard news that there were child traffickers in the demon realm, he made sure to hunt them down.

Actually, Naviel and Ignivar had done the work of hunting them down. Zorathys had slept through it and had given them a time frame for when he would want the information, and again, knowing Zorathys, they made sure they met the time frame.

After rescuing the children, Naviel, along with the shadow soldiers Zorathys had left with him, took the children to the castle and tried to locate their families. While Naviel was doing that, Ignivar was cleaning the bloody mess Zorathys had left behind after killing the culprits.

When Ignivar was done, he joined Naviel, and the both of them spent their time and energy getting the children to their families.

They had to divide the work.

Ignivar tracked down the humans who had bought the demon children and even got the children back.

Then they started another job of identifying the families and delivering the children to their families. After that, they started writing reports and taking note of each noble that had been involved and who would then take over their positions.

It was hectic work, and before they knew it, it was morning. Naviel was parched. He just wanted to go home and maybe get some sleep. He was tired, extremely so.

They were not done with the work, but Ignivar had given up. The only way they could even leave was if they got Zorathys to come to the office or if they could convince him to let them go and finish the work the next day.

The issue now was that Zorathys was sleeping, and Ignivar and Naviel didn’t even have the energy to search for where the door to his bedroom was. It could be anywhere in the castle. And just walking around the castle was a chore right now.

Another issue was that if they dared step foot in Zorathys’s room while he was sleeping, then they would likely die.

"I’ll die even before I can step foot into that room from overwork," Naviel said out loud.

His voice was cracked, and he sounded like someone who had swallowed a whole lot of smoke for a long time.

His skin had lost all its colour, and his eyes were sunken.

"If my wife doesn’t kill me, then this will," Ignivar groaned tiredly in pain.

"If only there was someone who could help us convince the demon king to work or even let us go for a second," Naviel said.

Ignivar sat up immediately, a parchment of papers falling from the desk where he sat. He turned to Naviel.

"The queen."

"The queen?" Naviel asked him with a frown.

"Yes... she may be able to help us," Ignivar said as he tried to stand, but immediately he did, his legs gave out under him and he fell face-flat on the floor.

Naviel stared at him.

"Guess it’s all up to me now," he said as he stood up cautiously.

He could hardly feel his legs. Hours of work had made his legs feel like jelly.

And that was how Naviel ended up at the queen’s office. He never thought he would collapse like Ignivar did, but after hours of working, even when it was their off day, he wasn’t surprised.

He hadn’t even gotten a wink of sleep nor any food.

Elyn couldn’t believe her eyes. She made Azerion move from the couch, and the snake boy grumbled, but she didn’t care.

Azerion was perfectly healthy, but Naviel looked like he was dead. If not for the fact that Morthen had assured her that he was breathing, Elyn wouldn’t have believed that Naviel was alive.

Morthen helped place Naviel on the couch while Elyn left the office to go look for Zorathys. She wondered what Naviel had gone through for him to collapse, and the one person who could give her the answer was none other than Zorathys.

Like always, the door to his bedroom showed up in front of her, and she opened it and walked into the room.

This time, the walls weren’t made of water. It was just dark. She snapped her fingers, and the lights came on.

Zorathys was in his bed... for the first time ever. Elyn paused when she noticed what he was wearing.

The blue pyjamas were decorated with pictures of Zorathys hugging his body pillow and floating in the air. He had a sleeping hat on with the same print, and he hugged his body pillow as he slept softly.

Elyn watched him for a while, trying to understand where he even got the pyjamas from and how he was still able to look so good in something so ridiculous.

She shook her head and tapped him once. Zorathys turned and muttered that it wasn’t yet morning.

"Zor?" she called out sweetly.

Immediately she said it, something in Zorathys’s brain tingled. A signal passed through his mind, one that translated to it’s the queen, wake up. His eyes opened immediately, and he slowly sat upright.

He yawned. "Good morning, firefly," he told her, blinking sleepily.
