Chapter 75: Happy Wife, Happy Life...
As Sara spoke more about her plan, Blade’s gaze became weirder and weirder by the second. Unable to ignore it anymore, Sara stopped and asked, "What happened?"
Blade stared at her intently. "Are you okay?"
Sara shook her head. "I am fine, just a little tired."
Blade nodded slowly, but her gaze kept moving back to Sara’s hair from time to time.
She even summoned a small yellow blade and started casually playing with it in her hand. When Sara looked at her questioningly, Blade simply shrugged and summoned another one.
After Sara finished explaining her plan, Eve asked, "Can you do it by yourself?"
"No," Sara admitted. "That’s exactly why I would be needing you guys’ help."
Lilith nodded beside her, her robotic eyes flashing with determination.
At some point recently, Eve and Lilith’s faces had started to gain more distinct female features. They had become increasingly defined, resembling real human faces but with sleek, metallic skin.
Is it because of the divine chess game? Is it accelerating their evolutionary growth? Sara guessed silently.
But then she looked at Sage and became unsure. The tiny White Monkey looked exactly the same...
...
Far away on a different planet...
[Blaze] looked at their interaction with annoyance. He was low-key pissed at Sara for disrupting the chess game just when it was getting interesting.
How did it come to this, one might ask?
Well...
Being a God and a very old one to boot, had its drawbacks. One of the major ones was boredom.
To cure their boredom, many Gods did various weird things. His specific hobby was peaki... no, guiding.
Yes. He cured his boredom by guiding.
Of course, he limited this ’guiding’ to his family members for now, but that could always change in the future...
To guide properly, one needed to know everything about the person. Even things they didn’t know about themselves. So yes, to achieve that, he naturally needed to pay very close attention to them...
Very close...
Recently, he had taken an interest in Night because the boy possessed his granddaughter’s missing artifact. After just a single day of close attention, his interest in the boy had peaked.
But Night just had to ruin the fu... no, the observation, by going into that damn Inheritance Ground!
Just when [Blaze] had looked away for a brief second, the boy had disappeared like a magician.
Still, he was magnanimous enough to let the kid have his inheritance, but still...
Why isn’t the brat entering my legacy already? [Blaze] mused with a frown.
He must have practically been dragged toward it by his [Soul Fire].
The trial inside wasn’t particularly difficult. Knowing that young kids would be entering the Inheritance Ground, he had purposefully made his game children-friendly... It was just a simple toy game, much like the chessboard artifact...
A very simple, easy toy game...
Really!!!
The only reason he hadn’t entered the legacy yet must be because he was already inside another one.
If the boy cleared a different legacy, then he would absorb records that would affect his own original Records.
More records were not always a good thing; sometimes, they severely limited an Evolver’s path in unexpected ways.
I can always help him minimize the negative impact... if the acquired records are really that bad, [Blaze] thought reasonably.
He chuckled, knowing full well that as a Primordial God, practically every other being’s records would be inferior to his own, except for the other Primordial Gods, of course.
Not knowing what else to do, especially since his great-great-great-granddaughter was currently playing with his wife, who hated him peak... no, guiding, he switched his gaze to watching the summons.
No, wait, Night called them his friends.
While casually eating popcorn, he watched how the baby robot twins and the tiny White Monkey beat the living daylights out of the Unique Being on the chessboard.
He was genuinely surprised to see it.
Unique Beings were incredibly rare; even he encountered them very rarely across the cosmos. And this alien girl looked like one of the much stronger ones.
Hence, seeing her lose and throw a petty tantrum was especially fun to watch.
As for the others, a beast with a Divine Bloodline was nothing new to him. But the undead human was the one that truly earned most of his attention.
This one looked like she had been forcibly transformed using a catalyst of Divine quality. After all, only something of a Divine rank could make such a biological miracle possible.
A normal, mundane undead was a mindless creature, a slave to its base instinct to kill everything in sight.
It didn’t matter if they were human or some other intelligent race before their transformation; the corruption ruined them all the same.
But this specific undead showed flawless human-level intelligence and none of the murderous instincts.
Coming back to the present, as he watched Sara speak to the group, he narrowed his eyes. He noticed something was off about the Headmaster.
...
Back in Night’s home...
While speaking, Sara moved closer to Sage, Eve, and Lilith, seemingly wanting to sit down and speak comfortably.
As she sat down, the transparent tentacle hiding in her dark hair peeked out. It looked at the clueless White Monkey and suddenly jumped.
Just as the tentacle leaped at Sage, Blade narrowed her eyes and lifted both of the small yellow blades she had prepared, ready to intercept it. But the Divine Artifact reacted first.
On the table, the Game of Chess underwent a sudden change. A white ball of condensed flame that looked like a miniature star appeared floating on top of it. It instantly shot at the ignorant tentacle in mid-air, disintegrating it completely before it could even land.
Everyone in the room was shocked. Sara, Sage, Eve and Lilith, who were closest to the blast, immediately backed away in fright, looking warily at the glowing chessboard.
But the board seemed dissatisfied with just this minor defense.
Immediately, the chess pieces on the board arranged themselves into a complex, magical pattern. As the board floated higher up into the air, it faced somewhere South and instantly, a terrifying beam of light shot out from it.
...
Far away...
[Blaze] watched as the artifact’s beam of light hit a ball of writhing black tentacles hiding in the distant desert.
The attack was a lot weaker than he had expected, clearly showing that the planetary suppression on Earth was much higher than he had calculated.
In response, the ball of tentacles, already aware of the attack, dodged slightly and started teleporting away.
Looking at this, [Blaze] was officially pissed.
"Oh no you don’t," he muttered. He waved his hand, and the twelve massive stars orbiting his planet immediately shrank and appeared in his palms.
With another wave, they fused into a single, blindingly bright super-star.
With a third wave, it released a beam of light that was trillions of times stronger than the one the chessboard had just fired.
The divine beam crossed halfway across the entire cosmos in a single instant and entered the merging universe.
As it penetrated the boundary, its sheer might was drastically reduced by the restrictive laws. But even with only one percent of its true power remaining, it still managed to reach the fleeing ball of tentacles in the next instant.
Caught mid-teleportation and unable to dodge the sudden, overwhelming attack, the black ball of tentacles rapidly expanded, forming a massive wall of squirming flesh as a desperate defense.
BOOM!
As if a star had exploded on the surface of the planet, hundreds of kilometers of desert vanished in a blinding flash...
As the thick dust slowly cleared, the Void God was visible once again.
Looking at the horrific aftermath, the entity looked pitiful. Only a few of its scorched tentacles remained, as most of its mass had been burned away trying to survive the blast.
It was grievously wounded.
Just as [Blaze] raised his hand to launch a second, finishing wave of attacks, a beautiful woman appeared inside the simple hut.
She had deep blue hair and serene, deep blue eyes. It was his wife, [Aqua]. In her arms was a small baby with bright red eyes, who currently had a mischievous smile plastered on her tiny face.
Immediately, [Blaze]’s face bloomed into a doting smile. Who else could that little one be, other than his beloved great-great-great-granddaughter?
Aqua asked softly, "What happened? You looked so irritated just now."
Blaze lied smoothly, hiding his annoyance. "I just saw a cockroach after a very long time. It made me a little jumpy."
Covering the baby’s left ear with her soft bosom and the right ear with her gentle palm, Aqua asked seriously, "Is it dead?"
Blaze desperately wanted to say, If you hadn’t walked in, it definitely would have been! But he wisely held his tongue.
Happy wife, happy life. It was his motto for a long, peaceful married life... and it had never betrayed him yet.
He quickly checked his divine senses and as he had expected, when he looked back at Earth, the pest had already completely disappeared.
Blaze clicked his tongue in annoyance and said, "No. But at least I got it real good on the second hit."
Aqua nodded approvingly. Meanwhile, the baby girl in her arms looked at [Blaze] with a cute, teasing smile, happily lifting her tiny hands toward him.
[Blaze] looked at this and melted.
She looks like she wants to change her mou... nt...
no...
what am I thinking?!
She probably just genuinely missed me....
Probably...
...
In Night’s home...
Blade asked the room, "Is it dead?"
Lucy asked in sheer confusion, "What is dead? What just happened?!"
Death gripped her scepter. "I can sense something die here... but not completely. Only a part of it died."
Sara looked at them in horror. "I think... something followed me here."
Sage, Eve and Lilith frantically looked around the room, but couldn’t sense anything amiss.
Blade then got up and carefully circled the entire hall while the others didn’t dare to move a muscle.
After checking everywhere and intensely scrutinizing everyone’s auras, she finally put away her yellow blades and said, "It’s really gone."
Blade shivered slightly. "It really made me feel so uneasy."
Looking at the floating chessboard, she bowed deeply and said respectfully, "Thanks for saving us."
The others looked confused by who exactly she was talking to, but quickly bowed to the board as well.
The chessboard flashed bright red once in acknowledgment, then calmly returned to the table, seamlessly resuming to its previous game state...
