Chapter 93: Part 2: I Just Wanted Friends, But My Summons Keep Eating the Bosses

Night and the others came close to the dead Sleepy Panda.

Night praised Lilith. He was not someone to hold back when someone did something so wonderful, especially not if the ones doing it were his own friends.

Lilith was so completely embarrassed that her robotic eyes flashed rapidly as if she were about to short-circuit. All she could force out of her mouth was a shy, "Master..."

( ⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄ )

Eve looked at her sister with envy, secretly promising to do something similarly the next time she got a chance to show off.

Death, on the other hand, looked like she had just eaten something bitter...

While Lucy looked amazed when she realized what Lilith had done, she didn’t possess [Mystic Eyes] like Night and she had been far more focused on monitoring their surroundings, so she had missed the intricate details.

Night looked over at Death, silently asking if she wanted the corpse.

Death. "I don’t need them. They are weak and the Ice Light Eagle skeletons I have right now are more than enough."

This was the major drawback of her undead skills: her skeleton army didn’t level up with her. Meaning, if she added a Sleepy Panda to her army, it would remain at the same base level unless she received some skill to upgrade them in the future.

They stored the fresh corpse in Lucy’s shadow.

Their spatial ring had very little space left and Night didn’t feel like wasting SC to buy another spatial ring when he normally didn’t have much use for it.

Seeing this, System Girl said apologetically in his mind, "Sorry! We will be done with the soul space very soon!"

And [Dream] didn’t forget to casually inform Night about the specialty of these specific monsters before getting back to her ’interior designing’. "These Sleepy Pandas are closely connected to the Dream Dimension. You should devour their corpses later; you might actually get a skill related to the Dream Aspect if you are lucky."

After that, realizing this was just a normal dungeon with no hidden surprises, they went entirely all out.

Death let her skeletal Ice Light Eagles aggressively attack in groups. The undead eagles covered their sharp beaks and claws with Death Energy and ruthlessly drained the life out of the Sleepy Pandas.

Eve and Lilith worked flawlessly together to increase their killing efficiency.

Eve stunned the beasts with her Electric Energy, while Lilith swiftly finished them off with big shurikens coated in Dark Energy.

Lucy simply grew herself back to her massive size. Becoming much larger than the Sleepy Pandas, she ruthlessly ate them up one after the other.

As for Night, he only needed to hit them once with his newly shaped, massive stone axe, which now looked much more like a halberd, covered in Nightmare Mist.

He was admittedly still not very good with an axe.

Compared to his proficiency with claws and knives, for which he had actually received skills, his axe techniques were incredibly basic.

But because of those other proficiency skills, he had a decent foundational understanding of close-quarters combat, so he could at least use his heavy axe in a fight without accidentally chopping himself or his friends in the process.

After half an hour, when he had killed a little more than 35 Sleepy Pandas, he finally leveled up.

He felt that familiar, blissful feeling of a level-up wash completely over him. Though it was intense, it was not completely overwhelming and it only lasted a few short seconds this time.

[Ding!]

[Congratulations! You have reached Lvl. 21]

Level 21: (EXP: 80/22,000)

[Ding!]

[Union (Common) (Lvl. 1)]

[This skill allows the summons and the summoner to merge and become a single being. The depth of the merger depends entirely on the grade of the skill.]

He had finally gotten the exclusive Summoner Class skill! Initially, he thought he might get it at Level 20, but it seemed that after breaking through the Level 20 threshold, many systemic rules had changed, pushing the reward directly to Level 21.

Looking at the powerful skill description, he wondered how it could be used in practice.

He quickly gathered with everyone and excitedly explained the new skill. Night then asked with a grin, "So, who wants to try this out with me first?"

Before absolutely anyone else could even respond, Death immediately dashed toward him and hugged him tightly, as if clinging to him would automatically activate the skill.

Seeing this, Lucy angrily bit the hem of Death’s gown to free Night from her aggressive grip, telepathically yelling at her, "Leave him alone, you crazy bone-bag!"

Even Eve and Lilith frantically tried to separate them, but Death just locked her arms and held onto Night even tighter.

Looking at this comical scene, Night sighed and had no choice but to activate the skill on Death.

Immediately, Death turned into particles and merged directly into his body. He felt the connection between them become incredibly thick, feeling their very beings combine together on a profoundly deep level.

The others visibly saw the air around Night completely change. He physically looked exactly the same, but he now securely held Death’s scepter.

When he removed his bone sunglasses, they could see blue flame burning fiercely within his pupil-less eyes, giving him an incredibly mystical, terrifying look.

He felt his raw physical strength violently skyrocket. His bones, especially, felt incredibly dense, as if they had just been forged from a metal.

He then casually slammed his small fist into the dungeon floor, and the earth instantly caved in, creating a small crater.

He felt this skill was too good to be true and this was when the skill was just at the Common grade!

Lucy exclaimed in awe, "This is too good... can you merge with more than one of us at once?"

Night excitedly tried to pull Lucy in as well, but immediately shook his head. "Not for now. It’s limited to one at a time, but feel like this restriction should change in the future."

Eve asked curiously, "What about Death? Where exactly is she?"

Night, slightly surprised by the question, immediately checked his internal connection. Soon, he could clearly hear faint, echoing thoughts. At first, he genuinely thought he was just hearing things...

Yess... Finally...

Hehe hehe hehe...

We are one...

We are one..

We are one...

We are one...

He felt like he was listening to a broken tape recorder belonging to a stalker.

He immediately canceled the skill purely on reflex, afraid of accidentally peeking any deeper into her mind...

He felt he might not ever be able to look at her the same way again if he heard even a single word more than he already had...

Death materialized directly in front of him. She was still completely in a euphoric daze. The scepter was back in her hands, but she completely refused to move an inch...

Night and the others just stared at her blankly. They definitely didn’t try the skill again after seeing Death reduced to this state.

Night coughed awkwardly. "Let’s try this in a safe space first. Like, inside the reinforced training hall of our Nightmare Castle."

Lucy, Eve and Lilith completely agreed.

Seeing Death acting exactly like this made them curious about what exactly was going on in her head.

They, too, fully agreed it was vastly better to experiment with the skill somewhere safe. It was not good to be left completely vulnerable and in a daze like this right after canceling a skill.

After some time, Death finally snapped back to her senses.

When she eagerly expressed her wish to try the skill again, Night immediately refused, much to her intense disappointment.

But seeing her downcast look, he quickly assured her that they could try it out together after they safely returned home.

Immediately, Death was fired up again. She attacked the remaining poor Sleepy Pandas as if she was leading a holy crusade and purging unapologetic sinners.

Level 21: (EXP: 21,980/22,000)

He was incredibly close to leveling up yet again.

After clearing all the regular monsters, now only the dungeon boss was left.

Death had scouted all over the dull forest through her skeleton eagles and confirmed it.

They silently moved toward the boss chamber.

As soon as Night saw the boss, all he could possibly think of was... Cute.

(❁ ´◡` ❁)

It was a massive Sleepy Panda and completely unlike its lesser brethren, this one was fast asleep.

No wonder it had never even bothered to come help the others.

It was huge, easily 12 feet tall.

Its massive body was completely covered in glowing, light-brown runes and it possessed a weird horn on its head that was not pointed, but completely flat in a blunt, cylindrical shape.

As it peacefully snored, it looked utterly harmless.

The others looked closely at the snoring monster, then looked at the starry look in Night’s glowing eyes and were immediately alarmed.

Noticing this, Lucy slowly and stealthily moved toward the boss.

The following event went exactly as they had expected.

"That seems like a friendly boss," Night said and started walking toward the creature but a cold metallic hand suddenly stopped him.

Eve looked up at him and begged with her cute blue mechanical eyes. "Please master. We have enough of us already."

"Are we not enough for you Master?" Lilith chimed in while standing in the middle of a filthy dungeon still wearing a spotless maid outfit.

Death loomed nearby and spoke ominously. "Only my skeleton army and I are enough. Let’s just turn everyone else into a skeleton."

Just then the massive boss was suddenly hurled into the air like a toy ball before falling down straight into the jaws of a shadow wolf.

The beast swallowed the monster whole and turned back to look at Night cutely as thick saliva dripped from between her rows of razor-sharp teeth.

"I am hungry."

Night let out a long defeated sigh.

"I Just Wanted Friends, But My Summons Keep Eating the Bosses"
