I’m an Adventurer! ~Musou Skill is Plane Magic~
Episode 25 - This is Border Sets City
The trading city Border Sets was slightly different from what I had imagined. I imagined a fortress city surrounded by high walls, but it wasn't such a bustling city.
On the south side of the city we arrived is a simple wooden fence with a fairly large field inside. I don't see anything planted, but it's probably a barley field. At the beginning of autumn, just before the next planting, nothing was planted. If I had come a little earlier, I might have had some summer vegetables.
Beyond that field, about 500 meters away, houses are built into a city. It's like a house in a German or Swiss countryside, made of wood and stone. I've never been there.
Most of them are bungalows, but the more two- and three-story buildings go to the center. Looks like a gentle hill from a distance.
The fence on the south side did not appear to have a gap, so it was decided to turn west. There are some roads laid along the fence, but it is simply a kind of agricultural road where there is no grass.
Turning west on the road, I saw something moving across the city. It's a ship. It appears to be a river or sea to the north of the city. The fact that it still appears to be a considerable distance away seems to be a rather large ship. No, maybe it looks a little bigger because it's a sailboat.
I see. Is it a trading city because it was developed as a base for water transportation? With this as the relay point, I'm guessing the supplies are circulating everywhere. It seems like there are many people and things I've never seen before. Akan, I'm getting a little tense!
In contrast to me, the bandits are visibly vanishing. The future of despair is steadily approaching, no wonder. You deserve it.
To the west side of the city, the wooden fence turned into a stone wall and into a stone wall. The west entrance gate was so robust that it could be called the castle gate. If I had visited from this side, I would have thought it was a fortress city as imagined.
Apart from the gate, which is large enough for three carriages to pass side by side, there seems to be a pedestrian entrance on the left side of the gate. Both are frequented by people and carriages. There are two carriage gates on each side, and one pedestrian gate on each side. There are a total of six soldiers standing on guard posts, but they don't seem to be checking in.
Two of the soldiers will come to us after they have spoken to their allies.
"Stop that wagon!
We stop at the spot with great care. He has a full range of leather armor and spears, so he must be a soldier. One is as old as the village chief, and the other is a 20-year-old. It was the grand man who called out.
"Looks like you're from the south. What brings you to this city? And what about the men in the back? A slave?"
"We are here to sell agricultural products from Takumi Village in the south. The men in the back depend on catching the bandits who attacked along the way.
Mr Vincent responded with a representative. It is best to leave the negotiation to the merchant.
"What, a bandit!? You got him!?
"Yes, to be precise, the former adventurer Dantes and his escort.
"Dantes... is that the 'Whirlwind' Hall!?
"Dolton defense!? Real!?
Here comes the Whirlwind! How much!? Mayor, you're a super celebrity!
Looking at the village chief in the cargo bay, he had a delicate look that looked like he was in trouble.
"Yes, I'm sure that Dantes is right. Bandits will be handed over, so is it okay to ask at the packing station? As for us, we want to get an accommodation before sundown.
"Ah, oh, that's fine. Yes, Master Dantes...
Everyone walked out towards the gate, but the two soldiers walking in front occasionally looked back and asked for flyers and carriages. "A local who happened to be in a country restaurant when an entertainer came to the restaurant!" A little analogy was tight. I'm sorry about that.
◇
The ensuing hearing ended without any problems. Thanks to Vincent, who always responded calmly, and the village chief, who retired more than 10 years ago.
According to the soldiers, there have been several incidents of banditry in the last two to three months, and they have been investigated by the Leadership. Judging by the size of the bandits caught this time, they must be the killers. Appreciation and rewards will be given later by the lord. I made a fortune!
I wondered if the handed over bandits would be taken to the dungeons, and they were dragged all over town. They say they will first enslave us in the temple so that we do not run away or rebel against anything. Well, it's a fantasy technique, but it's reasonable. I can't tell lies in an interrogation, and it looks like it's going to be easier in this world. It seems unlikely that the rice bowl will come out. Do you have any cutlet bowls in the first place?
"Hmm, it's finally over. Now I'm going to unload the goods to a familiar merchant, so if you'll excuse me. We have a boarding house in this city, so please come if you need anything. Well then."
That said, she handed a piece of paper to the village chief, and Mr Vincent went into the city.
"We're done here, too. I'll report it to the guild and get my reward, so I'll say goodbye. I haven't decided on an inn yet, so if you need anything, tell the guild. I'll see you later.
I'll say goodbye to Anna and the others here. I miss you a little, but I can't help it. This world is such a world. I can feel the word "temporarily", no, it makes me feel it. That's why I feel that the connection with the person I met is thick and heavy. It is a weight that is never burdensome or uncomfortable. It's not an effortless, effortless, no-grab connection like the internet of the previous life, but a solid, handy connection. Yeah, let's take care of this encounter.
I waved my hand and dropped everyone off.
"Well, shall we go to the Commercial Guild? First, we need to replace the Magic Stone with gold.
Loot from the bandits will be retained by the Reichstag for a limited period of time as evidence, but the cash will be at our disposal. So I have some cash on hand. You won't be in financial trouble for a while. However, since the main purpose of this redemption is too large, Vincent expects that it will probably take about a full day to complete the assessment. Then you should apply for an assessment as soon as possible. That's why we left the jail and decided to go to the Commercial Guild.
As soon as I walked through the gate, the road turned from earth to cobblestone. It will make it easier for the carriage to run. Driftstone is a trading city. The gates lead straight to the city centre, with stalls lined up on either side. In addition to groceries such as skewers and fruits, there is a wide variety of items such as dishes, clothing, pots and knives, as well as miscellaneous items, weapons and armor that are not well understood. Many people go there, reminiscent of Ameyoko in Ueno. The difference is that, despite the fact that the stalls are so close to each other, the width of the carriage is properly secured. It may be a standing position like Ginza.
And there are many different kinds of people going there. Of course, there are people with Western looks (including me and the village chief), people with Indian brown skin, and people with Asian black hair and black eyes. But...
"Is there anyone with ears...?
"Ears?... oh, the beast system. Not many in this country. Dolton or the Ende Federation to the east across the mountain.
I was talking to myself, but the village chief answered.
Hmm, is that so? I thought you might be there because it's a trading city, but I'm sorry. Well, you don't have to be so impatient because you're going to Dolton eventually.
Whatever it is, it is now the Commercial Guild, and its own buying, freeing it from slavery. I'll be right there!
