Chapter 500: Don’t Look at Me Through Colored Glasses
The trainees immediately asked, "Professor Sinclair, who’s the new mentor?"
"Professor Sinclair, are you leaving?"
"Professor Sinclair..."
Claire Sinclair explained composedly, "The new mentors are all very popular and have excellent character. Professor Taylor and I brought a negative influence to the show, and I will reflect on my actions. You should all just focus on your own work and not worry about anything else. Conquer the market with your talent and win over fans with your sincerity. You’ve got this!"
One moment she was fuming, and the next she was dishing out inspirational advice. The trainees were a little taken aback.
Leonard Bishop said, "Professor Sinclair, I don’t mean to sound like a suck-up, but I think you did the right thing. Don’t feel bad. I support your criticism of materialism."
Liam Linden chimed in, "That’s right, materialism is wrong. Professor Sinclair, you did a great job."
"Yeah, materialism is just plain wrong. Professor Sinclair, I want to be a frugal and hardworking artist in the future and set a good example for my fans!"
Claire Sinclair chuckled at their words. "You don’t have to comfort me. I’ve been questioned about everything I’ve ever done since I was a child. I’m used to it by now."
Leonard Bishop couldn’t help but ask, "Professor Sinclair, could you tell us about your past? I get the feeling you must have a lot of inspirational stories. For example, how did you become Young Master Quincy’s girlfriend, and how did you become a reporter for the Astoria Daily? I’m dying to know."
"I want to know too!"
"Professor Sinclair, it’s not often we get to talk with you like this. Please, tell us!"
"Yeah, Professor Sinclair, we’re dying for some inspiration!"
PFFT...
Claire Sinclair couldn’t help but laugh again. "Alright, I’ll tell you a few interesting things, but I hope you won’t look at me with prejudice after you’ve heard them."
"We won’t, Professor Sinclair! Please, tell us!"
"Go on, Professor Sinclair!"
Claire Sinclair gave a slight nod and began her story. "I have an older twin sister who doted on me. She was better than me at everything, be it physical fitness or anything else. We were constantly compared from a young age. Whenever people saw us, they’d always say things like, ’The older sister is so capable,’ and ’The younger sister is a useless good-for-nothing.’"
"Later, we both attended a training camp, but I didn’t make the cut. My sister, through her own hard work, became the most formidable female warrior in the camp. Unfortunately, she was killed during a mission. After that, whenever people saw me, they would say to my face, ’How come it was your sister who died and not you?’"
Hearing this, Leonard Bishop couldn’t help but interject, "That’s horrible!"
Claire Sinclair offered a resigned smile. "It’s alright. I’m used to it. I don’t have a strong constitution; in fact, I’m frail and often sick. In crowded places, I get so nervous my limbs turn to jelly."
"That was until I met Mr. Quincy. He gave me so much love and encouragement. No matter how weak I was, he was willing to give me time to grow at my own pace. If it weren’t for his quiet support behind the scenes, I probably wouldn’t even have the courage to make a social media post, let alone write those bold articles."
"That’s the power of love."
"I’m so envious of the love between Professor Sinclair and Young Master Quincy."
Claire Sinclair looked at these kids, their eyes full of romantic ideals, and chuckled. "What’s there to be envious of? The first time I went with Mr. Quincy to meet his family, his mother slapped me right across the face. She screamed that I wasn’t good enough for him, called me shameless, and told me to get lost in front of all their relatives."
"Huh?" Everyone was stunned.
No one had imagined that such a story lay behind the seemingly glamorous romance of Professor Sinclair and Young Master Quincy.
